FLIGHT CHOPS DISCLAIMER:
I am a "weekend warrior" private pilot, I fly for fun with no intentions of going commercial. I have had my PPL for over 15 years, but still consider each flight a learning experience - I generally take detailed notes after each flight to remind myself what went well or what I could do to improve.... Having the GoPro cameras to record flights like this is invaluable. I find these self analysis videos very helpful in my constant quest to improve, and am happy to share. Feedback is invited; however, please keep it positive.
I absolutely LOVE how you brought in the magic of flight for the people with less experience to enjoy and the training aspect for the experienced people to learn from in the same video. I would venture to say that this is my favorite Flight Chops episode, EVER!!! XD
Feedback appreciated! This is exactly what we were going for with this one - glad you felt the balance was good.
Agree completely. Very cool video.
FlightChops you should take them to Oshkosh... that’s an experience
HappyBappyAviation nice
I agree. The editing on this episode is next level.
When DisnelyLand is the boring part of the trip. :)
Wow...Favorite UA-camr and favorite Podcaster all in one episode? And the adorable daughters to boot! How could one not enjoy seeing their reaction? Nice job dads.
That was pretty awesome! This is all about aviation spirit, to make dreams come true. Your doughter will never forget.

Not made of it but requires plenty of it to raise them correctly. 👍
TGL //TheGamersLife U idiot...
Bruvvvvv
'Does mom know about this?' If I only had a dollar for every time my kids asked me that.... Really fun video Steve!
As a student pilot and father of two, the girls reaction and excitement to the destination gave me goosebumps. I love it and I can’t wait to share my love of flying with my family. Way to keep the magic alive Steve.
That's a beautiful aircraft.
PhilBrownC ish
It looks a bit gloated. The long wings make it look better though
Well the aircraft is beautiful just like your profile pic you’re welcome
Love the way the girls ask :"Does mommy know?" After finding our they are heading to Disney.
This is absolutely what general aviation is all about! Very cool. I'd also like to add my own shout out to Ed for the landing clip and transportation. I also know the thrill of being able to help Steve out with some video and support. Gotta love it all.
Loved this one. One of the things that has me very excited about working towards my own private license is the prospect of sharing my love of flight with my kids, and using flight to make special memories.
Awesome Steve. Just Awesome.
+MrAviation101 - thanks Josh, glad you enjoyed it. I need to try to at least partially catch up to your level of training! Well done getting all the way to CFII
Very cool to see the kid's excitement. That's the fun of GA.
Cheers! uhm do you need an extra 19 y/o son maybe? I mean I kinda need an awesome dad maybe :D
Good job combining two days and scenarios together! Interesting despite the "normal" plane (compared to what we have been seeing lately here ;) )da42 is beautiful though!
It's funny how many things are the same in the pilot selection for the air force I did and real life flight. Shame my medical isn't up to par.
edit: not a kids person but always makes me smile when kids are that happy. also, watching the incredibles instead of frozen +1. good parenting
Thanks for the feedback on the edit. Glad you enjoyed the story telling style.
Or maybe a 29 year old from germany?
Tracomaster this is the best
"I put Frozen on there too"
"But we like Incredibles!"
"Good girls, I was just testing you..."
Very awesome Steve, got into general aviation with my grandpa who died in 09, he flew Titan ultralight. Going towards my private license had my first Young Eagles flight last weekend love all your videos keep those flight chops Sharp!!
Smiling ear to ear. So many great things in this video. Bravo!!
Steve, I just became a father to a baby girl three months ago. I want to get my pilot's license over the next year or so. You just gave me an awesome goal to work towards. Fly my daughter some day to a great place like Disney World.
If I had kids, I would do this for sure and often.
What a wonderful gift to give them.
During 2004, the DA42 became the first diesel-powered fixed-wing aircraft to perform a non-stop crossing of the North Atlantic. In June 2010, a DA42 powered by Austro AE300 engines became the first aircraft to be publicly flown on algae-derived jet fuel.
Absolutely loved that!! This video shows exactly what general aviation is all about! Becoming a better pilot and sharing aviation with your friends and family.
This was great, educational and massively entertaining. As an aspiring instructor and new Dad, I loved both Jason's checkout and the flight with the girls !! (Even my other half watched this one !!!)
Awesome! Really cool to hear the other half enjoyed it too! And congrats on the new dadhood! It's a fun ride!
It's been fun so far - if I can get her into flying I'm sorted !!
Welcome to Orange County. Seeing/hearing kids' reactions when they see Disneyland over the air never gets old. For anyone that's interested, ATC will generally let you fly through the Disneyland from KFUL or KSNA. Just request flight following to either French Valley or Chino exclusively. Once you clear the Class C you are free to drop flight following.
Awesome man, making memories they'll never forget, and instilling that love of aviation in the next generation...hard not to smile watching this video!
Greetings. 9/22/17 I flew as PIC for first time since 4/81. The diamond da40 is a bit different than the aeronca champ I soloed after 7 hrs as a 16 yr old. It been a long wait & well worth it. Your channel helped bring me up to speed, and provided inspiration. Many Thanks
Haha the blue angels got me too!
Mrcaffinebean works every time 🤣
If it was true I would’ve been pissed, I live near there and if I didn’t see then yeaaa...
Enjoy the little ones while you can, they grow up SO fast.
i realized how excited and happy you were, into the moment of making the process for this flight than the girls were much about Disneyland... Flying makes our day.. love it.. :)
Oh my gosh Fullerton airport is where my grandpa bought pilot lessons for my 15th birthday. It was extremely fun!
What a gr8 trip !!! :-) Reminds me of a trip I took from HKY to ZPH, took my nieces aged 7 to 12 (3 very excited girls :-) home from a summer visit with our family up here in western NC. We were flying a Cherokee 6, and it's true, if you can pack it in the a/c, it will fly!!! (But it won't climb very well ;-) We had to isolate our selves from them too, all we heard was Uncle Brian, Uncle Brian... All things considered, it was a terrific flight and a good time was had by all :-) Great video Mr Chops, looks like those young ladies had a wonderful time :-)
Awesome job Daddy Chops!!!! I plan to have one of those trips to Disney World next spring.
Awesome video! I can still remember my first GA flight when I was ten. And yesterday I had my first solo!
That is the coolest way to tell any kid that they are going to Disney land good job 👍
Awesome video, i enjoyed it more than I thought. Family is the best
Nice family surprise, good that aviation allows you to enjoy such adventures
Best reaction ever, hope I can do that with my kids one day. Great video, Flight Chops!!!
A flight school at my airport just bought 4...9 hours endurance with reserve... Insane... Great plane
Wonderfully done, cherished experience that's priceless. Thank you very much for sharing.
Too precious.
Great video, I too am blessed with a young lady. Nothing beats having a little princess.
There is absolutely NOTHING better than seeing the joy that aviation and flight bring into peoples lives. Every single time I see a video that brings a smile to someones face, young or old, brings a smile to mine!!!! Thanks for the smile, I needed it! #BoseA20 hashtag #FlightChops
Awesome and touching. Beautiful girls and family.
now thats what i call magical journey
Very Thorough with the pre-flight briefing I like it!
Next time he hears blue angels he'll automatically cite checklists.
That was SO adorable! Loved the video Steve.
I’m having my third flight lesson on Wednesday and loving every minute of it!
Such a good looking plane. The panorama windows make it
Dude, I love your channel. You inspire me to want to fly.
New favorite episode. Sooooo Cute! Love your work steve! Keep up the great work!
Adorablest passengers ever!
So good man, your content just gets better and better! If you want to fly some Cross Country in a glider, give me a shout next time you're in Houston!
This is something I'd like to learn more about - can you email me? I will file it - flightchops at gmail dot com
Loved this episode! One of your best!
This is what GA is all about! Nice!
Awesome video .... your girls are precious! Glad they had fun!!
Crazy you were in the Bay Area! Trying to get back into my training here from back home in ZBA since I moved Steve. Definitely a comfort knowing the airspace is just as busy as back home. I'd love to connect with Jason if he's ever looking for another passenger on his flights - not sure if he's based here. I'm in San Jose.
How cool is this!
I always wish I could go there it would be a dream my mom an dad doesn't have that much money
U and ur daughters are very lucky I hope u had a good trip
Love the preflight brief! its good to see discipline!
Those two girls are just so adorable :D
There's a button on the G1000's com panel to isolate the girls in the back. That's how I fly with children (and people acting like children), and if they need my attention they know to tap me on the should. (Yes, you can isolate *just* the pilot or both pilots from the passengers.)
Best Dad
Can't wait to get my IFR, next day flies formation, just teasing
It's so nice to see you doing this with your family. Congratulations
#BoseA20
Magical flight to magical destination
Said perfectly
Great video. Really good job on the editing. Sweet girls. Good dads.
Getting ready to start my multi...this was helpful!
Everything is so close to my house! Nice to see some fellow Bay Area people XD
Livin the dream, Chops.
Great treat for the girls!
People would usually say that if you shut down 1 engine on a twin prop plane it would spiral in circles but it doesn’t
Awesome video. A lot of people have a bucket list flight they hope to achieve while pursuing their rating and mine was to fly my daughters. I finally got the chance last year when I flew them from Central CA to Santa Monica (where I grew up). I was probably the most excited person in the plane with my wife way at the bottom lol. The girls both fell asleep about 20min into the flight which made me roll my eyes and laugh. Here I'd been planning and working for that moment and when it finally came they passed out. hahaha It was definitely a familiar request when your daughter asked if she was allowed to watch a movie. SMH
This was a very special video from you guys!
Such an amazing experience. I am aiming for the same kinds of trips with mine. Long way down the road but found this inspiring. Your girl(s) are about the same age as mine and would probably end up doing the same sort of things. lol
Welcome to KFUL! Be sure to eat at Wings Cafe!
I'm still a kid but I'd love to fly this plane when i grow up :)
wow thats a sweet looking plane
Well done Dads
That's how memories are made! #BoseA20
This is a dream of mine. I can only hope one day I can afford to make it a reality
I swear youtube gives out random number of dislikes because who can dislike this video, awesome video man
I thought you had an car or something flying in the sky cuz it looks like car seats inside it and I'm like I GOTTA WATCH DAT
That is number 1 DIC stuff there
Awesome job with the kids. Flying too 😁
I wish I was like these little girls without a care in the world about heights or what could happen in the air. I'm scared to fly but don't know how to over come that
Great dad!
Cool...No, make that ULTRA COOL !
Thank you !
I love your videos one day i will be able to fly a380
How were the kids able to listen to their movie as well as talk to you when you informed the kids of the destination?
Their head sets were plugged directly into the iPad via auxiliary (with a splitter adapter on the iPad so they could both be plugged in). If I hadn't asked them to pause it, they'd have heard both me and the movie sound. We left them isolated most of the time so they could talk to each other but we wouldn't hear them.
Great. That's how it's supposed to be.
9:02 that sound in the background
precious
Why didn't the prop windmill when shut down?
Alan Waggoner Switching the engine master to off shuts down the engine and feathers the prop
Moms at home! nice!
I didn’t see that coming with the shutdown. Wow
Thank GOD for the isolate button!
HAHA!!!! I would have kept it a secret until we actually drove up to the front gate!
That's sweet 😳
Why didnt you use Flaps APP for the short field take-off? Also what engines did the aircraft have?
Thats amazing!!!! I really hope to make people happy like that once I get my RPP!!!! #BoseA20
Plane looks like a twin engined four seater traumahawk.
That's so awesome
