While horror movies shown through the view of the killer aren't new, it's interesting how the killer featured here is a Jason-like slasher villain rather than some creepy pervert.
Great video! Something I want to mention that I loved about this movie is the lack of sound effects. When watching a slasher like this from the victim’s perspective, the movie throws a bunch of jumpscare booms and suspense music which is supposed to in a way represent the feelings of the victim in that moment. In this movie, the absence of sound effects really emphasizes the perspective of the killer because the killer doesn’t show fear or any feelings in the movie. This movie does a great job of feeling like the killer!
I genuinely enjoyed this movie so much, there’s a lot of division going on because people aren’t used to slower paced movies, but as an avid A24 and slasher film fan I loved it. It was slow for a reason, so everything sinks in and takes you into the mind of a mindless monster.
I felt like this guy was very creative with his killing. It wasn't just for a wow factor but it was who he was. Jason and Michael seemingly killed mindlessly. It was almost accidental that it was so gruesome. This guy like enjoyed his work.
One thing I have to disagree with is your take on the ending. I have never once while watching a movie been more stressed out than I was when the camera lingered on a shot of the forest from the side of the road. The sheer terror of waiting for that spike of intensity that never comes made eyes well up. I had to collect myself and remember to breathe properly. It could have been that I knew this was the ending. It could have been that I knew we were never going to get that jumpscare, that reveal that the killer was still after her. It may have even been the change in perspective as this felt like the first time in the entire movie that we were no longer watching the killer's perspective. Whatever it was, it was effective.
So true that the last ten minutes felt like the entire runtime of the movie, great observation. It's a solid 3.5 / 5 star movie for me, which is as good as you can ever get with a slasher flick. I really liked it a lot. so different.

I can understand that sometimes the movie theater can suck ass and people are ill mannered but just the feeling of being in a theater is just a different feeling. This sounds very interesting, I would to check it out 😊, I hope you have a great day
I really enjoyed the movie for the most part. There were moments I was bored with Johnny walking and the other characters too. During Johnny walking around the woods, I felt relaxed and peaceful. This is my first movie in the theaters since November 2019.
Bruh, you hit everything on the head. The cinematography was great from the ratio of how it was shot, to each angle. Everyone talks about the yoga kill which was like woah woah woah but imo the wood splitter was worse. The camera sitting in one spot not moving for the entire shot as Jonny just kinda..played with it? I was in an almost empty theater. It was gnarly and I most definitely had a good time.
In my opinion this is true for IMAX but besides that I get the same experience if not better sometimes because there isn’t a group of dudes on their phones and talking the whole time. Opinions.
I personally liked this movie, I found it beautifully shot and different from all the other slasher movies I've seen ( it literally feels like you are playing a slasher horror game, walking through the woods, stalking, searching etc ). I loved every single kill
I'm happy you went to the cinema and experienced the public reacting like that, I don't go that much, but hell I remember watching Spiderverse, and I was laughing and in awe with the public at many times, and it was a beautiful experience :). Hi Zeark! It makes me happy you enjoyed the movie so much, I commented on a YT poll you posted about whether or not you should go see the movie, and I said I just saw it, and you said I convinced you to see it; it made my day! I absolutely love the slow-horror style that this movie utilized, it was a lot of walking and quiet background conversations from other characters, but to me it made every word said stick out so much more. The lore that they did give us was really interesting to me, and although really simple, I think it was creepy enough and pretty cool. It was just such an experimental movie and I think anyone who enjoys horror should see this in a theatre with a good crowd like you said, I’m really happy I got to. It was funny how you mentioned that the movie was basically dead by daylight at some points; I saw this movie sitting between my roommate and my girlfriend and both of them whispered “dead by daylight” in my ear without realizing they both said it. The yoga kill definitely had Mortal Kombat fatality vibes to it too, which made it all the better.
Finally watched this last night since it popped up on Shudder the other day. The Yoga death scene rivals Art the Clowns recent most disturbing kills. Christ it was glorious and I knew this movie was for real and not fucking around after that seeing that scene.
My theater was pretty involved in the scenes too! The kills were crazy in this movie, it was so so intense, the yoga scene and the wood cutter scene were gut wrenching…loved the movie

I watched this movie with my boyfriend in a theater. It was only us and I honestly think that made the experience so much better. Yo, great video! Glad you enjoyed the movie. I am one of those people who did enjoy the end, but I understand where you're coming from. I think I like more the idea of the ending than its execution, but there's still enough in its execution for me to accept it. It was stressing me the fuck out. I have my own further interpretations about the ending too, but overall I really enjoyed this film largely due to us following this dude around the forest lol.
I had a similar experience to that theater fart… During The Black Phone, I was right next to a chubby dude with really heavy body odor… but it weirdly smelled a lot like a musty concrete basement.
Okay but can we talk about how you can actually see him while he’s stalking the teenagers? Like I really wanna see that more because it’s not like “oh he’s out there” and it’s just an empty shot of the forest, you can see this fucker watching. The only time that this doesn’t really happen is the ending or it has a shot and a character moves out of the way and then he’s there! I just can’t for the life of me understand why they don’t do this in movies more, I can’t be the only one thinking it can’t be that hard to put your stalking killer in the actual scene. The only other time I can think of this was in the first Halloween movie.
Funnily enough I didn’t find main parts of the movie boring or slow, but I can’t even recall what the last 10 minutes was because I checked out. I think it was dialogue heavy, something meditative but yeah that ending dragged
I just got home from seeing it. In the UK it doesn’t come out for another couple weeks but I got to see it at a secret screening where they didn’t tell you what the film was, just gave clues. 35 people walked out and I think some of them were hoping for MaXXXine, others just didn’t like it. I fucking loved it, exactly what I hoped it would be. I don’t know anyone else who’s seen it so haven’t been able to discuss it and I really want to
It's a very meta movie in the sense that it expects you to know the genre tropes in order to understand it. Everytime there's a moment like the one at the end of this film in any other slasher film, the killer returns to finish the job in a horrifying manner. During this last scene, I was on the edge of my seat, WAITING for that to happen. They show you the forest all the time, when she's limping towards the road, when the old lady picks her up, when they're in the car, when the car stops, etc... I was expecting Johnny to suddenly appear out of nowhere all the time, but he never did. It was a clever genre subversion, because it puts you in the girl's shoes. She will ALWAYS feel this way, she will never be sure if the killer is gone forever or not. She will definitely not camp again in her whole life, that's for sure lol You end up FEELING her trauma in a very intimate way. But I guess if the movie doesn't make you feel that, then it'd be understandable if you think it's a bummer ending.
I'm so glad this is getting love. I went a few days ago and yeah, this was fun. The slow pace didn't kill the experience and THE YOGA KILL. H O L Y F U C K
The ending is what holds me back. It turns paranoid suspense into a long, drawn out boring ending with nothing happening. I feel like if they didn’t blue-ball us in the end it would’ve been such a good movie

Its a simple theme but its expressed very concisely. This, on top of how great it is just as a regular slasher, makes it extremely impressive to me.
I felt like Dune 2 was taking forever to get going, I remember sitting there for like 40 mins like “c’mooooorrn!😾” But this movie in great, and also there’s a french movie thats not out yet called “Les Chambres Rogue” (Red Rooms) when that finally comes out here is going to be crazy, and of course we can all agree “Longlegs” is gonna be the one everyone will be talking about.
Everytime they chaned the shot from the killer to the teens i kept trying to find like a silhouette or outline of the killer i always felt like i saw something that just kinda vaguely look person shaped but i could just be looking into to hard. Did anyone else think that or an i just crazy. I tried so hard because everytime it switched back i thought i should of atleast been able to see a little of him givin the shot is the dirrct opposite from where he was standing before changing to hocer over the teens
go to the movies if your able to don’t wait til things get on streaming because movies like this or like Late Night with The Devil won’t get theatrical runs if you do that a studio will just sell it to get thrown on streaming services and disappear into the void they have to see people are interested in it to keep making shit like this

The group are definitely adults. It’s hard to believe they are teens
That’s how it’s always been lmao
Basically cross Friday the 13th and Leprechaun and this is your movie
Honestly great video man! The only thing I completely disagree on is that the “Yoga kill” was not nearly as brutal as Terrifier 2 bedroom scene
this movie was just johnny going on a hot girl walk
Stunning work
Everytime they chaned the shot from the killer to the teens i kept trying to find like a silhouette or outline of the killer i always felt like i saw something that just kinda vaguely look person shaped but i could just be looking into to hard. Did anyone else think that or an i just crazy. I tried so hard because everytime it switched back i thought i should of atleast been able to see a little of him givin the shot is the dirrct opposite from where he was standing before changing to hocer over the teens
I genuinely really liked the ending 😂
See now I’m definitely going to watch it
Brother you made my day
I really love slasher, but looks like there is no release date in brazil, hope to see in streaming soon, i love the aesthetic of this
Thank you for reviewing movies I’m too lazy to watch
Oh yay! What a pleasant surprise! ✨❤️
Man you’ve grown since the submechanaphobia days. Keep it up legend!
go to the movies if your able to don’t wait til things get on streaming because movies like this or like Late Night with The Devil won’t get theatrical runs if you do that a studio will just sell it to get thrown on streaming services and disappear into the void they have to see people are interested in it to keep making shit like this
I usually buy it in 4K physically
i like this guy get him a million subs NOW.
