Wonderful wonderland video. Thank you for the terrific tips, great composition, and the most important lesson for me: when to stop painting. I want to add more and lifting off the tape is like ripping off a bandage. 🤣
So many useful tips, love them, Your paintings and the way You tell us how You think When You paint. I must say Your Voice are nice to listen to. Have a wonderful saturday evening, Sundby and then we meet at noon on monday, I Hope!
Thank you so much for offering such a wonderful tutorial on YT. The reflections and shadows you created are so beautiful. I love the tip on creating interest. Just beautiful, thank you again.
Thank you for saving me. Rescue kitty got spayed and has decided we'll be up Alllllll night. My favorites are the 1st (dig on the cool foreground & browns just above and the fence line.) and 3rd (really starting to like this "shadow first" method).
This was a particularly helpful video -- I rewatched it to work along with and made a very nice scene using the techniques you shared albeit not on toned paper. Thank you and happy holidays!
Great job! I've been wanting to try out this sketchbook. I'm working in a stillman and birn one that's got grey, black, and tan paper all in one and it's been challenging but alot of fun so this video is perfect timing for me. Thanks for another wonderful video! Much love from Nashville. 👍😸
To mix true greens it's best to use a cool blue, such as Prussian or Cerulean. Ultramarine is too warm, but makes good purples if mixed with a cool red such as alizarin. The selection used in this video won't make good clear greens or purples, but muddy ones.
Hullo Sarah, I do like these toned papers but most often it is found in sketchbook form. Have you tried any larger papers? I was looking at BFK Rives Printmaking Papers and they have several weights, sizes and tones, have you tried them? Perhaps another brand? I have some smaller samples of Shizen and Fabriano Tiziano Papers. I got these for soft pastels they have a wide range of colors and add some texture with clear gesso and if I need more texture, I have grit in the form of Pumice I can add to the gesso before application! Sorry that is waaaay of topic, but it is paper and I am wondering what other types you have tried with gouache and watercolors. I am still looking through your videos just not having the best of luck so far. Still enjoying your other content full videos, so Thanks!
Useful demo, as always. I’m wanting to try gouache on toned paper. I’m guessing you find the 200gsm weight ok for gouache. I’ve been using the Strathmore 300gsm cold press sketchbook which is really nice to work on with just a bit of texture to it, so can do dry brush as well.
which sketchbooks do you use? i can see that your sketchbooks dont warp when you paint, but i dont think you list what kinds you use.. whatcha say? which do you prefer?

So agree on the grass adding interest and focus to this painting.

Would love to see you do a demo focusing on painting different kinds of trees in gouache.
Noted!
fantastic. I/m using your new brushes. So excellent they are!
Glad you like them!
Thankyou Sarah, I finally managed a passable landscape or 2. You are so good with your explanations and your paintings are lovely.
That’s great Zoe!
Great tutorial Sarah thank you so much. You are an amazing teacher!
Lovely pieces of art! I am so glad I purchased some gouache recently...now I remember why I loved it!!
It's so good!
Lovely work, and I really like the idea of painting shadows first! So great you include your palette colors. Thanks so much !
Fantastic! 😍
Tank you for this vidéo, and the others too! It’s really beautifull and instructive.
You're very welcome!

Ohhh black paper seems like it would make for some interesting gouache painting!
Thanks for the video Sarah 😊💕
Thanks for watching!
So beautiful!!
Thank you!
Outstanding work!! Enjoyed your dry brushing 👍❤️
Thank you so much 😀 my favorite thing about gouache
Great vídeo and painting class! How about painting your cats in gouache? The force be with you!
Maybe! I rarely paint animals
That would be so fun!!
At first I thought you said toilet paper. That’s some serious skill indeed! But toned paper looks pretty good too 😊
I have a question about your Patreon. Do you paint using gouache and transparent watercolor equally? Really enjoying your tutorials❣️

That wasn't the point of this demo. It was to discuss warm vs cool, based on my selections. Its always relative.

I paint on 90lb beige paper too and it's "fine" - I'm just more conscious of how much water I use. But it's easy enough to flatten

In the description there is a link for my supplies and I have different sketchbooks in each medium, mostly all are heavier than 90lb
At what time are your Monday streams? (+time zone)
I don’t do those anymore
I really like your videos!! Would it bé posible to subtitle them in Spanish?
I don't speak Spanish, not sure how to do that? I'm sorry :(
