I really appreciated you talking about how to manage your classroom at the end. We need to work on this in our homeschool. ❤
God bless you I so needed this ❤
I love seeing how other moms do their schedules. I love your question strategy with the boys. So smart! I do a very similar weekly spread but the boxes are labeled and repeat. I just write the pages or lesson notes etc. and I plan for the following week daily. This has saved my sanity. This year I started using Syllabird for my students to see their lessons for the day. It’s been so helpful!
I haven’t heard of Syllabird! I will look into that!!
I love your weekly spread! We are starting term 3 this coming week and I will try it out. I can never find anything that is “perfect” for planning. But really that’s my lack of ability to be consistent, not really the planning’s fault :)
I agree! We just have to find SOMETHING that works and get started! Perfection is our enemy!
What do you use for singing games? I always need more I those
The CMEC has a rotation I follow and we use lots of songs found right here on UA-cam!
@@joycherrick thanks Joy!
Oh my! This video has been amazing! Thank you thank you thank you! I love your podcast and your substack! I have a toddler and homeschool. How do you make time to create content like podcast, writing and recording videos?
Oh Joy, it's great to hear from you! Once I stopped nursing my youngest I found that I had tons of extra energy. So, I wake up early 2-3 days a week (on my own without an alarm) and that's when I study and write. It's a wonderful time when the house is quiet and I'm well rested. What I've found is my creative work gives me tons of extra energy through the day. As for the videos, I've been making them either on Saturdays (like today) or one afternoon during the week when my hair and makeup are done (ha!). I feel called to this work and I've been trying to find a way to fit it into my life because I think it's extremely important to encourage other homeschool moms to do their best and serve their families well!
Thank you Joy! I think I’ll have more time once I am no longer nursing my toddler. She is 1.5 but I plan to stop around 2. I really want to start a podcast and blog but find it difficult at the moment to have the time. Thank you for responding!
Totally! Maybe this is your season to read and rest!
Can you link the notebook you use for this?
I'm so close to joining the CMEC now thanks to you too 😬 I'm just worried I won't utilize it as much as I should. We dabble in AO but would love more modern kit included and a more robust science.
I’m not a big fan of CMEC science program. What they have is teacher training. There is still a lot of planning and consolidating that needs to happen. Did you check out their sample? That may help you decide!

@@joycherrick thank you!
@@joycherrick I did but it's been a while I'll check it out again! You seem to have such a clear focus on your kids schedule and your teaching philosophy and I'd love to have that within my own homeschool. I'm so easily swayed and constantly looking for whatever is newer and better. I'd be fine joining the CMEC "just" for teacher training.
It’s been a game changer for me- though you may want to dip your toe in with one of their a la cart Conference packages to make sure you like their teaching style- it’s very much like taking a traditional college course with long form lectures and not the new format of 10 minute online lessons
How have you like Renaissance and Reformation? My older two will be in 6th and 8th grade next time through this time period and I wanted to really highlight church history next time through 😊 Also, the bullet journal has been a game changer for my logbook too, planning the next week day by day is brilliant! I’ve wanted to eliminate my end of the week planning and this may be the way!
I’ve really enjoyed the book! It’s is Protestant centric. So I wouldn’t recommend it for a Catholic family.
I know this is random ....but we want to name our daughter that is due in May, Joy..but I'm struggling with a middle name. May I ask what your middle name is? I know so random haha 😂 finding a middle name for Joy has been tough.
My middle name is Joy!!! My parents wanted to name me Joy and had the same problem so moved it to the middle! Joy Anne, Joy Elise, Joy Lark, are variations I’ve thought of through the years!
My sister in law is Joy Elizabeth ❤
@@joycherrickthat's funny! I do like your suggestion of Joy Elise 😊
