I have a 2008 Toyota Highlander limited. Reading same code. Had the solenoid replaced, but the same code is still appearing and it still want shift properly into Drive, but yet it shifts properly in the other modes shifts properly , meaning I feel and hear the shifting gears when I shift but not in the (Drive) mode and it also want drive as it should. My sisters car had only 2nd and third, used a code reader. Said it was solenoid SLT, S4, and SL1, I changed those and now it doesn’t even shift into ANY gear at all. I’ve took it apart twice, changed the solenoids again and still nothing. I don’t get what’s wrong with it.
One day when I go into reverse I have a strong shock and vibration. The oil was very dark brown and I changed all the oil but the symptoms are the same. However, in drive it takes a while to start and then it is fine in the next gear. The code is P0771. Do I need to replace the valve body?
What was the 2nd piece you taped after the spring, and what does it do? I just read a comment where you answered it's check valve but how important it is because i just finished put everything back and i could not figured out how and where supposed to go. I also found 3 loose tiny ball bearings and no idea where they came from.
The second tape was just to secure the check valve, because one tape was not enough. It is important, because it controls the transmission fluid that passes there. For the 3 loose balls bearing, you’ll the repair manual for that, because those balls also allow and close the fluids pathways.
What diagnostic tool you using to see the solenoids, and do you know what to look for when buying an obd2 scanner so you know it will let you see all electronics in transmission Thank you, I have an op500 code I already changed the 2 sensor and my 2004 sienna is still slow to shift from second to third gear, what I have been doing is to release the gas pedal to give time to transmission to catch up with the actual speed so it’s doesn’t sleet. A person in that forum was actually stating that his sienna was that way when he bought it brand new. It won’t cause any problems they keep going and going! It’s annoying I know! I will change the after market cv axles for OEM, I still have them, I will install new boots and see if this fix the problem, because mine didn’t have that shifting problem when I bought it, I didn’t pay attention but I think this appeared right after I replaced the OEM cv axles for the after market ones. But at the end I am not in a hurry I know it’s going to be good. Last November I was ready to swap the transmission but I find out that some of this transmissions are just like that!
My 04 Highlander gave po776 Weak take off till it got momentum Then it shifted hard 2nd and 3rd gears, I replaced all the solenoids. It still got weak take offs but the rest shifts smoothly. Why do you think ?

What solenoid did you replace? I have the same issue with "B" perf/stuck off. I tested the line pressure control solenoid, shift solenoid valves: SL2, and SL3, and changed the filter (strainer assy.) But after putting back together its still slipping as soon as it shifts, or attempts to shift into 3rd

Just ran new trans wires(OEM) 75 bucks just put in. (OEM) s4 solenoid 350 bucks . Still will not go into 4th and fifth my next option to put back original Short DSL solenoid and clear codes . My original code was a PO798 . So I hope helps a future reader .
@@fixchanics9969 the reverse didn’t work for about a week but it was due to low fluid I put it on Jack’s to do some suspension work and it started working again lol gonna replace the #35240 OEM Toyota part# DSL solenoid this week . See if gear 345 will down shift . Will give update .

the was the springs, one is a black plastic with small spring, and the other was the middle spring from the 3 big springs. They stay in place when the transmission is upside down.

I have rebuilt it according to your guidelines, and after road test, when the oil is hot, it returns an p0746 error, and does not shift from 1-2. When I use the tech stream software i can force 3rd gear. I have replaced the SL1 solenoide, but that did not help. Any advice
I did this on a Japanese 2004 Toyota Sienna.!- did you reset/relearn the transmission computer. 2- check the wire harnesses for loads (ohm/resistance) and voltage. and 3- test the solenoid for proper loads (ohm/resistance) and voltage.
@@fixchanics9969 Thank you kindly for the reply ! Yes, we did relearn the trans computer via techstream. Voltages and ohm values are normal according to the service manual. We cleaned the valve body again - it shifts 1-2 with slip, but after the cleaning, the p0746 is on - but the gearbox still shifts instead of going into only 1 gear mode

you might have to check the wires and connector to the particular solenoid. Check the wire for resistance (ohm) and voltage if you could.

So a small spring and a black clip with what looks like a roller ball on the end of it came out when I dropped it where and what are those parts
It’s a check valve. it’s important to important to put it back. You see the part I put the tape on. That’s where it goes.

It was SL4 for us.

it's same principles, google the valve body of your vehicle, and it will show the solenoid. Solenoid D, should be SL4 (I'm going by memory)

Solenoids A B C D…. They sell them as kit online. Try, Toyota Sienna valve body solenoids.

check the resistance and voltage on the solenoids and wire harness. Also, reset the transmission memory (you'll need a computer that can do that)

@@Marcheva91 is it possible, maybe mechanical, the clutch or gears getting worn. Did you the check the spring gaps and strength?

the solenoid needs to be replaced. you can do that by taking the transmission pan off.

Hi my Toyota Avalon 2006 model sometimes show a pressure soloniod error code and when I whip it with scanner it moves fine and come may after some days later and I noticed the ATF is somehow black,do you think if I change the aft in will make a difference.please what do I do.

Check the fluid level first, then drain and refill it.
@@fixchanics9969 i did that already 5 . 5 qts toyota type 4 .. level hot shows fluid up to 2nd mark on dipstick
