I've removed two windshields with this tool and it works great. It's not a sawing motion that's required. It's all about pulling the handles as close and parallel to the glass edge. Easier to have one person in the car and another outside of the car. Have the person on the inside hold it parallel to the edge... while the person on the outside pulls parallel to the edge as well. Corners are a bit tougher, but just work through them slowly. Worked great for me and no damage to the paint.
I used this tool and it worked ok. It helps to feed both sides of the wire through the urethane so you have both handles on the outside of the windshield. Then pull. Do in sections.
I was feeling really depressed and unhappy at the way things were in my life at this time. But after watching this guy and the end result, I couldn't control myself with laughter. I know this was suppose to be a serious video, demonstrating the practical usefulness of a cheap windshield removal tool. But I could see myself doing exactly what he did with the hammer, long before the end of his video. I'd really like to thank him, for that brief moment in time, when someone who was feeling really sad, ended up with an uncontrollable belly laugh. Thanks to you whoever you are. Bye for now.
And... Maybe the definition of a “professional” is not someone who’s done the same thing over again and again ... but someone who thoroughly takes a little time researches and something before they approach a task they’ve never done. Bashing the window just gave you extra work. Why, ... would you do that? Are you trying to attract the young amped up crowd or the people who appreciate good advice and safe practices. Let the shop vacuuming commence and hope you’re not pulling stunts like that nowadays. Remember, people searched your video to get tips on “what” to do...
Knowing nothing about cars, I took out gear box oil instead of engine oil and then topped the engine off with another 4 litres of oil when I realized what I had done I drained the engine with all the oil in to a pan which overflowed off my drive on to the road. Worst day of my life sometimes its best just letting the professional do it.
I watched this video and 10 minutes later spent $400 on a WRD orange bat. Glass for one of my project cars (peugeot 505 turbo) is not available in within 2500 miles of my home and I don't want to be doing that to the rare windshield that may just appear in a local junk yard perhaps in as soon as in a year.
Mate I spent the afternoon trying a different cheap crap tool to remove the windscreen and went on the same emotional journey. Thanks for your video - gave me a laugh and an idea on how to change-up my approach tomorrow.
Thank you very much for your video. I was almost ready to buy this tool. I think you have to go around the windshield with your wire and feed it back inside the car. Then you have to pull in from inside the car and your windshield, Try to use fishing line instead about 300 lbs it should be good for this job.
I've removed several windshields with hood latch cables. I would imagine any small steel cable would do the trick. The wind of the cable works like a saw and heats up as you go. They're much stronger than the garbage in those kits. The trick to the corners is to get the cable hot by either friction or just heating the cable. Then the heat will just melt around the corner. Take care to stay close and parallel to the glass in the corners and take it slow.
Sorry but I gotta say that was funny. The slow burn building to the dramatic climax! Too bad about the windshield though. We've all these episodes though and I must say it is much more entertaining when it's somebody else! Keep em coming!!
often the pros just have the expensive "right" tools and that makes the job way easier and successful... its trying to use inferior crap quality stuff that leads to frustration.
I would have paid to see this in person. It was my birthday yesterday and I could have made the trip. I am not saying I would've helped... However, I would have gotten a pretty good gift out of the deal. :P
Windshield removal is mostly for junk windshields and practicing on anything you care about invites what happened. I've done a few with my bro (that junk was all he had and it was his shop so whatever) but the smart way is copy success if you're trying to harvest a good windshield. We did them with guitar string (the ancestor of all the wire cutout methods) and a pull knife but these tools are really intended for getting junk windshields out of the way.
I bought the same Harbor freight window pulling tool. Got the same results with my 944, thankfully, it was already cracked. Someone mentioned using a heat gun. Yeah probably a good idea looking back..I’m letting a pro install the new windshield lol (700$)
Here's the problem, if you a rust problem and you need to repair under the edge of the window where it's leaking. 1. Either remove the windshield and throw it away because you cracked it, and have it replaced with a new one. 2. Remove it without cracking and reinstall it. However if you want to pay a pro to remove and reinstall or replace, then he has to come back twice. Because you need time to repair the rusted metal.
Since you had one side done you could pass the wire from the bottom all the way to the passenger side and for the other end use it for the top (with the wire going all the way to the passenger side) after you have those 2 ends. Put your t handles on them and saw that thing out.
I love these handles, I used to do it without em and its much nicer and safer than using vice-grips or a piece wood. I have never tried the wire that they give with the tool tho, after watching this I dont think I will lol.
It’s ok bro! Windshields are not easy to remove. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it . Look on the bright side, you didn’t cut yourself and didn’t smack yourself in the face.
Your angle is off and rubbing the metal on the inside. The wire is just near impossible alone... You need a person on the inside and one outside. Otherwise, you'll break the wire or glass everytime.
OMG laughing my ass off, I attempted the same thing on my 944 and ended up with the same result. Took me hours and hours to remove it from my car and there was much cursing involved.
I don't care what nobody say this shit was classic funny the very last time it broke my son said oh shit!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 sweating my ass off😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂💀
you use tool first off all bad, inserting tool need to use from inside and bottom corner so y bend it genius :D, second you dont use wire like chain saw, only right angle puling and the wire cut like butter
Fair play for trying but even if you were successful like that the damage to the paint work would have been horrendous. That method is bullshit unless you pulled the trim out first
@@BoostBrothersGarage 😂😂😂😂 aye as long as you pay the air fair from Scotland. You had the sunroof out doors gone 😂 next time climb through the car 😂😂 pulling the wire 😂 I did crack up laughing when you took the hammer to it . Class 😂😂😂😂
serious bottom energy there. how bout some self control, attention to detail and careful. stay away from power tools till you get your hormones balanced.

Run wire all the way around outside.. Poke in from bottom and it's a pulling not sawing motion that cuts from inside

Thankyou for your honesty. Saves me a day of headache. I was planning to remove a windshield but not anymore
This by far is one of the best clips you have ever made 😂😂😂😂😂
Hahaha, thanks Nick

Did something similar first time I tried changing oil. Now I'm the "professional". Everyone has to start somewhere
😂
Just hilarious. That is exactly what I would have done. One of my favorite videos so far. Well done
Thumbs up'd for the windshield smash because I know the exact emotion you were feeling at that time. hahaha
Thanks for the vid and for the effort!
Thanks for the laugh sir!!!!!! This was amazing

Smart!
This was good to watch, thanks for making me laugh. I hate the idea of doing this myself.
Haha, that’s what we are here for!
I used HF kit and it took maybe 5 minutes and the windshield was out.
Mate I spent the afternoon trying a different cheap crap tool to remove the windscreen and went on the same emotional journey. Thanks for your video - gave me a laugh and an idea on how to change-up my approach tomorrow.
That’s what I’m here for!
I would assume possibly a heat gun or even hair dryer would heat up the adhesive/rubber and allow the tool to cut right threw
Be worth a shot! I think a second person would have helped drastically
Let the car set in the sun on a hot day!
Best video yet! You should fail more often!
Hahaha, thanks, I’ll see what I can do ;)

We need these kind of videos too :)

Haha, thanks Jack. I know what you mean lol. Once the dust settled and I was editing the video I was laughing about. At the time I was seeing red!
Had me in tears from the first wire break.
Haha, almost punched myself in the face
I have also learned something today. Let a professional do the job. Thank you for that lesson 😂
Haha, that’s awesome what I’m here for!
often the pros just have the expensive "right" tools and that makes the job way easier and successful... its trying to use inferior crap quality stuff that leads to frustration.
Classic!!!! Dude you made my day !!!!
Haha, that tool was BS!
I would have paid to see this in person. It was my birthday yesterday and I could have made the trip. I am not saying I would've helped... However, I would have gotten a pretty good gift out of the deal. :P
I haven’t been that mad in a long time lol
Brilliant!
If you say so! Hahaha

Paid a glass guy $30.00 to come by my garage and take mine out. He had the sawzall type tool, took less than 5 minutes.
Ha, that’s obviously the way to go! Hell I paid $30 for the tool and the suction cups. Live and learn.
At minimum, you made me laugh.. Sorry about the windshield, but thanks for the laugh!
Ha, well sometimes that’s all that matters!

Sometimes, ya just gotta hit it with a hammer then crack a beer. Well played.
F**k that windshield

My first time doing these today took hour half 😁
Hey man that is EXACTLY how I will react too, great video
😂😂 I could feel the F bombs bottled up! Should of dusted off one of your masterful acrobatic rolls onto that windshield!
Hahaha, why didn’t I think of that?!?!
what kind of wire was that? look like it was aluminum? maybe a steelwire would be stronger.
I think it was stainless? If it was aluminum, it was a decently sturdy type. Wasn’t sturdy enough though!
I love these handles, I used to do it without em and its much nicer and safer than using vice-grips or a piece wood. I have never tried the wire that they give with the tool tho, after watching this I dont think I will lol.
I did the same on my first time now I'm a pro.but never smash the windshield. That was funny. Reminds me when I was younger
HAHA DID MINE WITH A CABLE TYPE CUTTER FOR PIPE DID NOT BREAK,FINISHED WITH A MULIT MASTER
I’m just going to pay someone next time haha
🤣😂 ... this was a great video ... funniest ending lol
Stupid tool! Lol
It’s ok bro! Windshields are not easy to remove. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it . Look on the bright side, you didn’t cut yourself and didn’t smack yourself in the face.
If you have 2 people it is damn near trivial to remove a windscreen with the wire cutout system
Easy for a Porch mech-in-ech !
(Rather see ya work on a Geo Metro. Convertible of course!)
Best video ever. U got character and patience until it broke on u. Made me laugh a shit load. I was expecting a bigger hammer LMFAO
Haha, thanks! A man can only take so much pain!
I used welding wire and worked like a charm no fight and less effort you put in.... too little too late
Oh and socket extensions as handles, sometimes you have the tools already and just don't know it
I’ll keep that in mind next time!
Oh dude l feel your pain and frustration :(
Hey busting the windscreen with a hammer is great anger management :))
I’m not gonna lie, it made me feel SO much better haha
:))
Well, shit happen, have a Bless day !!!!!
Ha, it certainly does, thanks Frank!
Patience is a virtue. Often seen in women but never in a man lol. I would of had it smashed long before that, you done well lol 😂🤣🍻
Hahaha, at one point I was just hoping it would break again so I could smash it. Screw that windshield
Please tell me your not scrapping those door handles and the ignition lock!!!
PS, this sounds like how my day went today on a cayenne center console. Something I’ve replaced several times...
Haha, I will be keeping the door handles, but I was going to scrap the ignition lock. Is that a mistake?
Sometimes cars just don’t cooperate. It’s like they have a mind of their own
Boost Brothers Garage yes! They cost $1k new from Porsche. And you can buy the key barrel separate and it can be made to the original key by VIN
And for real! You can do it 100 times but one will still get to ya
I feel your pain
If you think that windshield had it bad, you should see this guy's wife...
Hahaha! My wife gets pampered, hence my excessive frustration with inanimate objects. Gotta take it out on something!
@@BoostBrothersGarage So glad to hear it man, I like to see women getting treated right!

Haha, I had no idea what a horrible process this was going to be. Never again!
Love this guy lol
For a start you would jam it through on the inside... Nice try for never doing it though.
That wire cuts through anything you put in front of it. Not the best tool. Lol
I used a screwdriver as a handle when wire broke the screw driver went right into my forehead. Lucky it wasn't my eye. Yes, the hammer came out!!
user error, heat gun might help
Dark side chain saw
DO TWO OR THREE WIRES, INSTEAD OF ONE!
Yup LOL that's about it
I would have did the same dumb ass stuff bro but you made me smile today and I needed this. You are appreciated OG window smash
I've removed windshields using the same technique, but with a wire coat hanger. Oh well, too late for that.
Ha, I’ll remember that for next time. Do you just bend the ends to use as a handle?
I would do that and then put on a pair of heavy gloves.
Gotcha thx
Seem too thick and uncooperative
Shame!! I wanted to come help you my brother 🙆♀️
I could have used it haha
I don't care what nobody say this shit was classic funny the very last time it broke my son said oh shit!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 sweating my ass off😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂💀

The worst lol

Hilarious at the end of the video.
Sad. I got that kit and was able to remove the windshield because I have patience and didn't get defeated. De-motivational video. Thumbs down!
haha i would have done the exact same thing i love this vid...lol
Just a little tip… heat gun
loved it i no the feeling .😅😅😅😅😅😅
Safety glasses may be needed.
In the heat of the moment, that was the least of my concerns haha
😂😂😂😂 I use bycycle brake cable and 2 bits off brush handle cut into 6 inches 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Ooh your killing me there's a little clip right there and u keep getting stuck on the metal edge of it try a different angle please?
Nvm there goes that.. but good advice
"THERES ALPT MORE BEHIND YOUR WINDSHIELD THAN YOU THINK"

Maybe..... you should research how to use the tools before you make a video.
The tool didn’t come with instructions. The video is what any normal person could expect from buying it. There’s your video.
