Can we talk about the *texture* of this world? How it's simultaneously so crumbling and desolate and yet so full of life and joy? It's a beautiful, cozy, mysterious land. It makes me think of life just going on after the great empires fall.
It's my headcannon for the world's story. Our mage friend is travelling in the land ~30 years after the great empire collapsed. Everything's a little run down now, there's uncertainty, but life is freer than it was. With boundless opportunities for those who seek them. :)
Reminds me so much of Morrowind! It's alien and fantastical, yet recognizably functional!

Feeling like really fantasy life
This may seem like a really small detail, but as a disabled person, I really appreciate that the person who walks by the coffee shop has a slight limp. They're standing up straight and walking purposefully, not letting their injury/disability stop them from doing what they can. Even that small amount of representation is so important and so nice to see. Thank you!

I notice the yellow of the dome is shining in the sun... yet crumbled parts show stone. Seems like gilt paint to me. I also don't remember seeing any dogs in Oltak. Maybe they're all working dogs out in the fields. All we can really say about it is that stray dogs are not tolerated on the streets of Oltak.

I was expecting to come across some mediocre medieval lofi on this video knowing that Blue Turtle focuses on actual fantasy music as a niche but this music is amazing! The art is always awesome! Living in a decaying empire is an aesthetic that I can't get enough of.

This makes me faux-nostalgic for a world without cars. To sit out at a table on the street, write, drink tea, have conversation with no fumes, no engine noise. I wish more Australian cities were laid out before cars and had lanes and town squares where they could not go like persists in some European and Asian cities (and probably elsewhere I haven't been yet)
