    Everyone has been asking me how old those human remains are, so I asked one of the researchers who is studying them and he said that they are from the Maya Post Classical period, about 1200 AD. So they are about 800 years old. And yes, the enamel on teeth is very strong and lasts a long time!!

      +volkswatson Thanks! We have been expanding into some new techniques and equipment as it has become available. One of the limitations with our show is that because of the budget, there is a limit on how much and what kind of gear with can travel with and operate. We have a very small team and we are trying to be efficient and const effective. If budget were no object, we could do so much more on a production level.

    What a wonderful privilege to explore these fascinating places-and of course, recording it so that everyone can learn. How otherworldly. As much as imagining the sensations of cave diving frightens me, those white walls and the clear clear water-those gleaming human teeth-simply incredible. I imagine every single dive, even “mundane” ones, changes you, but talk about a whole other level. That tiny little artificially reinforced rectangle chimney (like a grave) then that great ballroom beneath, wow!!! Thank you for sharing.

  • @brijeshchandrakar
    @brijeshchandrakar 8 років тому +15

    Fascinating!! But why teeth of some skulls look absolutely perfect, while some degraded? I guess people were buried for a long time (maybe 500-1000 years) here.

    • @SpartanHawk
      @SpartanHawk 8 років тому +6

      because most bacteria can't live underwater, and the mayans had different meals than us. and for their teeth to be so perfect, i assume that are young people.

    • @MaxRamos789
      @MaxRamos789 6 років тому +4

      I would dare and say that it happens because of the pH of the cenote's water. This is surely alkaline water, which is good for your teeth, unlike acidic water. Take this situation as an example: In the Amazon river a skeleton of animal or human lasts from a few years up to a decade or two, because the water is very acidic. In contrast the cenote's water preserved these people's strongest bones and teeth for up to a thousand years or so because of it's Alkaline pH.

    • @yerimradzalova527
      @yerimradzalova527 6 років тому +3

      Most of the mayans sacrifice young girl/boys that just grows teeth plus the pH of the water,thats why they have perfect white teeth.if i gp to the xenote i will bring 500 bottles and fill all bottles with those water
