    Oh my gosh! Can I please come live with you??? Lol. I love love the 'Old Fashioned' living. My granddaddy raised me and I use to love when he would tell me stories about the good ole days!!! I love the Tennessee Mountains!! I would love love to learn how to live & survive like people had to back in the days of no electricity. The canning, the freezing, cooking, ECT.. ALL OF IT!! My husband and I are empty nesters now and I would love to find an old cabin and move there to the mountains but of course, I would need to be taught how to survive when you get snowed in..

      It is never too late in life to learn anything, I promise you that. I learn new things every single day. We did live in FL for a while, way off the grid, it was hard but very satisfying, no computers or internet either. But I prefer the way of life we have now, the good thing is, if for any reason we had to revert to living off the grid, we could. We rarely have snow in TN, it melts in hours if we do. Living in NY and NJ, that is another story. If you would like to see more about how we arrived here, please visit the ad-free blog where it began. farmhouse-bc.com/log-cabin-turned-farmhouse/. Thank you so much for taking an interest in our channel, your comments make it worth all the hard work just one video takes :)

    You may know but your dinner plates are McCoy Canyon from the mid 70’s. I have a collection of it. The dinner plates sell for $10 a piece and up. Very good find. Love the video.

    I have a large collection of the wood stocking stretchers. Different sizes ! What a great idea to make stockins from them ! Great ideas ! I want a fly screen so expensive ! Now I will be looking for an old strainer !! Love the cotton baskets ! I have cotton !!

    • @FarmhouseBC
      @FarmhouseBC  2 роки тому +1

      The strainers/ sifters are about $6 around here. I have a few other sizes too. I may put an old little wooden knob on top. I know how expensive “prim” is. We definitely can make a lot ourselves. Thanks so much for the watch and the wonderful comment! I looked for a child’s sock stretcher for years, I reduced the pattern until I had one near the size I wanted. Still on my want list. 😀

      @@FarmhouseBC I have one smaller size sock stretcher. Yes those are hard to find ! My colection has a funny story to how I got them !! My friend has a wonderful collection gathered over the years. I wanted some but couldn't find except one and dealer wanted way more than I wanted to pay ! We went to Lakewod antiques in Atlanta and there was a man there with tables ful different sizes ! I bought all I have except for the little one I have. ! He said bought out an old sock factory ! He wouldn't sell smaller sizes said his wife wanted them. Down size to story is the dealer who told me about them had the most wonderful painted firkins and pantry boxes !! He wanted big $$$$ for them so couldnt buy from him.

    Hello, I am new to your channel. I am moving towards rustic primitive decor in my home. and your video popped up. Your room is absolutely beautiful. I am looking forward to learning more from you. I never heard of coloring fabric with walnut shells. Blessings to you!

      Thank you so much! I love the rustic prim too. The walnut and or acorn dye really makes the colors toned down, this was the dyes of long ago :)

      I bet the fairy lights were adorable!! I wanted lights but didn’t have an outlet near the center of the room. Thank you so much for the watch and the kind words. ❤️
