- Nadezhda Pavlova and Alexander Bogatyrev are Odette and Prince Siegfried in Act 2 of this 1992 production of ‘Swan Lake’.
This is a performance later in the career of Pavlova than I’ve uploaded before - she was thirty-six at the time.
Odette does not seem her most successful role and she seem less unhappy and apprehensive during the performance, seen most noticeably in the curtain calls.
But enjoy!
She is indeed a dancer of pure spirit. Thank you for the upload.
+Casy y i wish i had more to upload - hopefully i will soon!
Well, thank God they captured it! It is a treasure as it is.
She has a sense of the beat of the music better than any other dancer!!
agreed - she is at one with the music
Unique! And her feet ❤❤❤
she must have loved ballerina since she moves are still in her heart ...RIP
Pavlova was the great dancer! In her nice, noble dance she was translating thought about infinity of struggle between Good and Evil. Bravo, Pavlova!
she was! bravo indeed! :)
I am deeply touched by her authentic pure way of dancing with beautiful devine lines and shape. Extraordinary.
yes, nothing mannered - just the essence of things

VIVA Pavlova!
This is a historic post Nick, and for a simple reason :
It captured an artist at the highest ranking of Ballerina. No, Odette was not a natural role, but Pavlovas magic wasn't based on a role-playing interpretation, but rather she used the roles as a means for revealing her life. Look at the famous face. ..This is a historic tribute to the role through her life. I'm going to single out my standout moment, the electric entrechats. Just perfect highlighting of the famous arches. Divine. A fantastic personal triumph for the Diva. I bow to her art. I saw her live in of all places Trenton New Jersey with her husband. She danced as if she was at The Met.
I never enjoyed watching this dance style, but it looks hard af
it does
Bellissima e leggera come una piuma. Era perfetta
non era lei!
hi Louise Smedley-Hampson
i've been poking around to find as much film of this amazing dancer that i can. just uploaded a solo from an early 'Don Q'.
hopefully more things will turn up!
Thanks so much--Pavlova was a goddess. I have such fond memories of her ravishing dancing.
@@genlyai5055 were your memories of her on stage? sadly i've only ever seen her on film
@@JohnRaymondHall Yes. They actually let her tour for a while (perhaps as a tacit repayment for giving Bessmertnova the career Pavlova should have had....I liked Bessmertnova but Grigoriev's rank, blatant favoritism of her did no-one any favors) so I saw her in Europe and the US in four roles: Juliet, Swan Queen, Giselle, and Kitri. One of the greatest Kitris ever, and a deeply moving Swan Queen and Giselle...
Life is a cruel gift.
Those feet....they’re the real thing, anticipating and bettering Zakharova’s inert, cartoon-like feet over ten years later.
very well put!! i agree.
I’m wondering now if Nadezhda Pavlova’s career never blossomed to the extent that it warranted because Grigorovich’s wife, Natalia Bessmertnova, was in the way. Never cared for the latter, but I had my eyes on the former when I first spotted her in that old, almost quaint, film from the late cold war, the Russian-American “The Bluebird”, starring Pavlova, and Hollywood luminaries like Ava Gardner and Elizabeth Taylor.
Who’s here from her video on Facebook?
I didn't know there was a video on Facebook?
Did you see Nadia with Tsiskaridze in almost full Le Sylphide? I love Nadia... and have a beautiful photos of them together in Spirit of the Rose and Giselle.
no i didn't :(
@@JohnRaymondHall Would you like to see one of the fragments of them? Oh, they also danced Chopiniana

@@BytomGirl thanks so much! really appreciated :)
Marta’s fb video brought me here.
welcome :)
The dancer in this video is Nadezhda Pavlova
There is something so unusual about her. I can't figure out what it is! Where is this tiny stage?
Currently, I suffered from dementia.
Balinese people like this dance
Seeing a moving Odile/Odette in our days is difficult. Pavlova was coached by Ulanova. Also adoring is Alla Michalshenko in swanlake. They are both perfect in technique and style.🌹🌹
i knew it was marta!
It is N. Pavlova

🤦🏻♀️
Çok iyii
Evet kesinlikle
Marta C GONZÁLEZ?
Nope. Nadezhda Pavlova
Loved it til the commercial about bloody gums crashed into the delicacy of the moment. I get that monetizing is really important, but I wish they could be put between scenes, or at the beginning and the end, as they used to be. Can’t watch anymore.....gingivitis will do that to you.
