I'd be curious to see how a 6900Hx would do against the 7840HS now with all the updates that have happened since it released. I tried looking for that on UA-cam but no one has done it that I can find. As always great video. I'm curious if the 780m performance is the same across similarly speced mini pcs
I bought myself this exact Elitedesk PC with the 2400GE and an RX560, and I use it for a home server. It’s great with Plex transcodes. Had to buy a ventilated lid on eBay though, but the lids from the 800 mini g4 also fit the 705 g4, and vice versa.
It's possibly even cheaper to get an SFF mini pc from eBay. The thing is, for SFFs that have m.2 or pcie or TB3, you can just pair a more powerful external graphics card. That is, before you get bottlenecked by the CPU's TDP.
Considering the rx560 is just 7 yrs ago and the igpu has beat it by twice the margin at most, i say getting the 780m mini pc is better as it will serve you for years to come and has lower power requirement. Hey, this is a mini pc, gaming should be just casual but still enjoyable as you unwind with work.
@@MrInuhanyou123 not sure about the hardware support. But 680m is approx 10 to 15 percent slower than the 780m fps wise. Also, make sure to put the fastest rated ram as these igpu's like it fast.
560 vs 780m (techpowerup) - 1024x64x16 at 1200mhz boost vs 768x48x32 at 2700mhz boost. iGPUs aren’t that far off anymore core wise from lower counterparts from the Polaris/Pascal years, with the much higher clocks on the new nodes and DDR5 closing the gap substantially to GDDR5 @ 128-bit.
Thank you for reviewing interesting hardware! Normally, RX560 should has 1275MHz core boost frequency and 1750 MHz memory clock. But here we see only 990/1500 So, perhaps usual RX560 could perform better. And of course, now there are a plenty of chip as a dirt RX580 8Gb, which (with appropriate CPU) can beat 780m. But RX580 doesn't suitable for small and quiet PC
Sadly not really. I have this setup as well and all it can push is the CPU a little bit. The cpu is a ryzen PRO 2400G and the RX560 is completely locked out of any sort of clock or power increase.
What would be interesting is a comparison in performance per $ compared the two, since money is really going to be a big factor if people are actually considering buying this older system.
Pleaaaaaseeee test some emulators with this card. I have the 2400g Elitedesk I’m using with batocera and would love to see if it’s worth the upgrade. Specifically for PS3 and 360.
the beauty of igpu is you can add more vram by installing bigger RAM. there will be performance penalty than dedicated gpu though. But, at least you can play some vram hungry AAA games. something that small vram discrete gpu only dream off 😂😂
Is anyone with this card having issues randomly crashing or black screen when playing intense GPU games? Sometimes it gets dissabled by device manager where you have to restart to make it work again.

It's a shame you didn't test emulation. That's the main question I have with this GPU vs the stock hp 705

Im looking at a 680m 6900hx machine like the um690s or beelink ser6. They a good upgrade?

@@chronicle_4 what would be fast ram in this case?
@@MrInuhanyou123 4800mhz or 5600mhz depending on what is the max supported of your mini pc you chose.

the 560 tested is an HP mini specific model.
This specific GPU is custom built for this PC.
I am only getting into retro gaming going no higher than PS3 or Xbox360. will the 705 G4 with the RX560 do the job?
Can the universal x86 tuning utility push the hp a bit higher in the performance area?

How about Radeon 760m? I have GPD win max 2 witch 760m and... Need i upgrade my HP or no?😅
I never imagined that the gpu that designed for such mini pc do exists, and I never imagined that you can get them for cheap

Put chimeraos on there already ^^
And c'mon, man! Why you no test with Fallout 4 😊
Anyways what about video editing performance
looks like a nice machine to have, if it is not that noisy
UM780 is much, much more expensive than HP!
roger roger
put linux on the mini pc like Ubuntu
