I love it (note the sarcasm) when the client tells you that they don’t use flushable wipes yet the manhole is packed full of them. I guess that means that the poor children are using their credit cards and piling up cases of these in their rooms for secret use. I say we make the children come out and clean out the manhole. So gross! You should charge double on these jobs where a plethora of wipes is present.
I'm amazed your customers never offer to move their cars. I've seen you work around all sorts but I'd rather move it than get it covered in poop.

@@SimplyTakuma Of course you can wash the car, that's not the point. If you can avoid getting human fecal matter on your vehicle in the first place, you probably should. We've all seen how messy these jobs can get, and I'm not sure about you, but the last thing I want to do is grab my car door handle and also touch human waste at the same time. No thanks!!

Poop on your door handle would definitely be a turn off, but can you imagine a scratch from the delver or a set of rods. Just seems common courtesy to give the boys as much room as possible.

Cottonelle makes flushable wipes that are actually flushable. Here in the States, anyways. I put a couple in a glass of water and they completely break down in under an hour. I stirred the glass with a chopstick and there's no way what's left in the glass could ever clog. The other ones that I got from Costco that say flushable are not and I left them in a glass of water in the cabinet under the sink for week and they didn't break down whatsoever---those almost seemed designed to clog and says "Do Not Flush More Than Per Flush", so they know. The Cottonelle ones have a "Tested with Plumbers" pink and white cartoon logo on them. Just a heads up in case anyone was wondering.

It's unbelievable how many people I come across that will straight out lie to you about using wipes. It's like you're paying the bill. What's the difference if you flush wipes? Just submit? Yes, I flush wipes. I'll stop using them now that I know it's causing the issue. Great video guys. Keep it up!

Should a multi shared sewer like that not be the responsibility of the local water authority? I mean the customer who called you out says they dont use wipes but they are going to have to cover the cost of the blockage that's not their fault.
Depends on the age of the properties, if it was built after 2011 the water boards don’t have to take responsibility for shared sewers. Or some have restrictions on when all of the properties in the road have been sold and new owners move in,then they assume responsibility for them. Best policy on shared private sewers is “who calls, gets the bill” That way they can sort it out when you’ve cleared it and left the site.
@Garbossa if they can’t clear it themselves, then they have to phone someone to clear it. Or stop using the drainage system, because it will just keep backing up. It’s not always obvious where it’s shared until it’s been cleared.
I didn't quite understand so please correct me if I misunderstood. It's a shared system and the neighbors caused the clog with the wipes? If that's right, who pays? I assume it's the person who called you out, but I would hope the neighbors would split the bill. (In what utopia, right?!)

We had builders 3 doors up from us a few months back, they blocked up the main sewer with cement, brick debris and rigger gloves, I managed to get the lot out so my soil stack was spared being rammed with toilet waste.

This is real life "Britain's Got Talent".
We had a similar industry/political debacle in several places in the States. Several cases resulted in the banning of non-flushable wipes and some fines imposed on companies misrepresenting their product. My Godfather in the UK and I wonder if Parliament will ever ban the buggers!!! You pros do perform a fantastic service.

Might be a shared sewer but the dia chosen looks like one you would have on your own property, how did building control pass that (fall looks a tad too shallow a gradiant accross them all ).
I dunno, after they clear the blockage, that water flowed so fast. Doubt the gradient is the problem here..

I recently got some thicker rods about the size of broom handles. (An old guy in the business told me to get them) their great for getting a good plunge on the outlet, Because they don’t bend too much.
