For those of you thinking this is easy: you're DEAD WRONG. I dance with a boy in my ballet class, and let me just tell you, it's a crap ton of work. Even doing something as simple as a grand jete lift is hard. and speaking for the female dancers out there, if not done correctly, lifts can make your ribs hurt like hell. what i'm dealing with right now, as a matter of fact.
I always have the biggest smile on my face while watching your videos. The Bolshoi Academy seems like such a nurturing environment for these young dancers, unlike the other Russian school such as Perm and the Kirov. They both produce beautiful dancers and the technical training is wonderful (my former ballet master was trained at the Kirov and later danced with them), but the Bolshoi kids seem to truly love where they are and what they are doing. It's a breath of fresh air to see that joy. ^.^
it is clearly visible that the dancers have to fight hard to get the ballerina's back to the floor. Without the male dancers all the ballerina's would fly away, and the art of ballet would never have existed.
Wow people can say all they want about male ballet dancers but they have to be really strong to lift those girls up like that! They make it look like the girls weigh just as much as a feather.
Well, they have to be naturally thin because these poor boys/men have to lift these girls/women over their heads sometimes as dead weight. So, we don't really want the poor boys/men to injure themself, now... do we? Yes, they do have to be thin but as you can see they are extremly strong, flexible and amazingly disciplined.
Beautiful -- It's wonderful to see how easily they pass through the moments of great exertion, with no distortion in the boy's case of the rib-cage or shoulders, and in the girls' offacial expressoin carriage of hte head, line of hte arms....there's great mutual care, but the expression of it is kept classical and serene, reserved -- it's in the attention to centering and breath. THe boys have good hands - -and so do the girls. Congratulations.
Beautiful! Your filming is getting better and better - you have a real talent for film-making! I also think your love for teaching and interest in your students development comes through in your filming - bravo! ...and thanks for sharing. Everyone of your posts is a special moment.
Ilya, I really like the editing and your angles in this video. You have a really discerning eye behind the camera for capturing the essence of dance and the work that goes into creating a finished product. The interviews with the boys at the end was a nice touch. They gave a "human factor" to the process. :)
Beautiful video. The teaching of this kind of discipline to young people while giving them a chance to express some of their own artistic ideas is an outstanding exercise in freedom!
Ilya....your videos are brilliant..the music...the intense interest you have for your students is amazing...they are lucky to have you! It is joyous to watch their growth as young men and dancers.....never stop!
Maddie Fishblob I realise its easier if you've known the person for a while. I didnt get that luxury. My first pas class was with someone whom I'd met an hour prior
If you don't mind me asking, what camera was used to film this? (make/model) Thank you. Your dancers are lovely and have inspired me to get back into ballet.
I wish I had the opportunity to study ballet there...if my daughter loves to dance too I'll move t Russia t give her the opportunity to learn ballet in one of those big academies in Russia...
Yea they eat. They are just small because they dance a lot which burns off the calories. If they didn't eat they would get sick/pass out because they are using up energy. So, food helps them refuel.
Well, you are right, but I never come to this video, so I don't know how this is happened, but it is strange. Not bad to mean, but I find Ballet boring so I don't even know why I would click this video, very strange
they can dance very good, but why are all those girls so thin? it's a shame to see how thin they are do they need to be so skin to doing ballet? they are all very good in dancing!

So true!

Sucking is better than not being able to do it isn't it ?:-)
Están hecho el uno para la otra....hermosas parejas.....¡Bravo!
They're so good! Great editing, too, love the shots with the hands and from the back. Music choice is excellent; what is the name of the piece?

If you don't mind me asking, what camera was used to film this? (make/model) Thank you. Your dancers are lovely and have inspired me to get back into ballet.

I was so entranced I didn't notice it was 'Yesterday' until midway.

All of the boys at the end are so sweet. :)
This was really beautiful. Well done :) Also great job on the video! And thank you for the translations.
THE BEATLES & BALLET=Perfect
The way these boys touch their girls - it's amazing :O
If they are in their 6th year, they are around 15-16 years old. :) The way I understand it, they have 2 more years of ballet study at the Bolshoi.
what song is this?? its so familiar!
What is the name of the tall blonde boy? He is bound to become a principal dancer!
Which?
Discipline = Précision! Bravo
Your channel name is partly in russian? how do I watch it again if I punch your name in? thanks
How old are these dancers?
It's an exam. It's not about expression it's about technique.
For how long time girls are en pointe?
What if they dont pass?
очень здорово...ещё бы малышей на экзаменах наснимали бы

Wrong music!
it is not the music that accompanies the dance, it accompanies the montage.
