Nice, man 👍. Really liked it. I'm a sucker for Apollo tech being used for a Mars mission and I am a sucker for Post Apollo mission concepts. Makes me wish there was a Mars landing in 1981.
I just discovered this channel right now where this beautiful video got recomended to me. Awesome job. Now I cant think of what if Apollo program reaches beyond 23.😅
Suggestion. You could have sent the hab module up on an unmanned Saturn 5 (or Saturn 6 whatever you would call that rocket) then launch the command module and lander up and dock them to the hab module so they are connected for the entire journey. The lander would only be deployed once you reach mars.
@@znatrix even if the first stage didnt have an extra engines, the center engine kept burning till stage sep. (irl they shut down the center engine early to limit the acceleration to a survivable level) even if it wasnt intentional i still think thats a cool little detail!!
No ability to have the fuel??? Word salad aside... Gotta love someone, discounting the possibility of an imaginary space flight, using footage from a video game...LOL!
You know, you could use KSRSS at stock scale (you can configure it easily from the configuration.cfg file) so that you can actually use mars, but with kerbal DV. I made a tutorial on my channel.
That was really cool! One question I have is about the second capsule, that re-entered soon after entering LEO. What was its purpose? Looks like the only thing it did in the video was to pull the lander out of its storage place on top of the 3rd stage.
Glad you enjoyed it! That pretty much was it. I was thinking that it would cost too much to create an entirely new top of the rocket so they would just use old proven tech to save some money.
I have an small but important issue, so this Space Station looking thing was not accessible thru a flight to Mars stage at all? It was a hughe waste os space and resources then.
In theory they could have started inside the station. They just wouldn't have windows. And the LES would be useless. The dockings could have been remote control.
Thank you for watching! I am back (maybe) to KSP! Hope you didn't mind wating 3-4 months for my return!
well if only KSP 2 wasnt such a polished turd
Amazing!!!!!!!!!
That must've been an incredibly cramped journey for the kerbals being inside the Apollo command module for the whole first leg of the mission
Let's just imagine that they could get to the hab module through the fairing 🤫
....it's a cartoon 😮
@AphelionBeach...Pretty sure it's a video game....
Kerbals can transfer through fuel tanks so I don't think they suffered too bad.
@@znatrix Presumably there could’ve been an alternate design where the CSM would dock to one side, the MMP and CDR would EVA to the LM, and dock it to another side
"Do they still have those double decker cheeseburgers-"
nice for all mankind reference
This mission profile would ensure the crew arrived sick, weak, psychotic, and dead. Nice work.
The perfect combo! 😁 (btw read the disclaimer in the intro)
If bugs bunny landed on the moon, why not NASA animations 😮
@AphelionBeach...Third times the charm??
It's a video game, not a cartoon, not real video footage...
if this was an actual launch, we would have colonys on the whole solar system by now
even on jupiter!
Seeing the LM land on Mars is the most Kerbal thing i've seen this month and I love it
even more kerbal is forgetting to move the kerbals to the proper station until you arive
This was really great!, as always great job

apollo 23 if the workers didnt ask if theres still double decker cheese burger
I can hear the Grumman guy from Apollo 13 in the back of my head after that ascent: "How bout that LM, huh? How bout it!"

Red stripe on the Mission Commander's helmet was a nice touch.
Great work! you are getting better and better
I've seen an Apollo mission to Venus, but not to Mars! This is insane!
your videos are so well put together just amazing!, has that retro vibe!
Wow, thank you!
Would've been cool to see the C-8, but this only makes me want to build one!!
Great videp as always though!
Love the video, it’s very well put together!
This is just like Capricorn One only without the government cover ups
The moon lander coudnt land on the Mars, unfortunately 🤪
absolutely beautiful work, keep it up!

Huh, is that Saturn V stretched? The tanks seem longer. If it is, nice bit to make it a little more believable!
It sure is! Both of them even. They also have more engines to increase the thrust (not on first stage).

I really love the modified Apollo hardware to go to mars. was this based off of any actual plans for hardware configurations?
I'm glad you like it! I didn't base it off anything however seems like there were some similiar ideas to do this.
there were proposals to use a wetlab for the third stage to do a crewed flyby of mars

NASA if they had a military budget
Just one question, the rocket that carried the mars station is the Saturn VI or a Saturn VB?
I guess it would be a Saturn VB

Have you ever thought of using KSRSS for your videos? (KSRSS stands for Kerbin Sized Real Solar System)
Yep, I have used it for a couple of videos however I find it looks pretty bad when you are at the ground of a planet.
@@znatrix I know that parallax tessellation works on every celestial, and the surface objects work of Earth, the Moon, and Mars
Why the leg of the lander leave the surface of mars whith the capsule only to be detached midfly?
So the lander has enough DeltaV to get into orbit. It is a modified LEM

It's some part from BlueDog's Design Bureau, I believe it is under Payload.
Could the LEM have survived mars?

Bluedog Design Bureau, or BDB
