phylum porifera
- Porifera means porus surface
- Pores are of 2 types
- Osteal small and many
- Osculer- large and few
- Body has two layered surface
- Outer layer ->pinecoderm
- Inner layer->choenoderm
- Pinacoderm has pinacocytes
- Choanoderm has choanocytes which are
flagellated
- Water canal system
- Asexual= Budding, Binary fission & Gemmule
formation
- Sexual ->Amoebide cells
- Produces sperm and ovum
- Skelton is spicules or spongine
- mycospongida without skeleton
