  • Jazz Fusion, prog rock and rockers ranging from Steve Vai, Eddie Van Halen to Tim Miller have all been inspired by the reed like lead sounds of Allan Holdsworth as well as his otherworldly chord and harmonic vocabulary.

When the Boss Katana is plugged into a DAW via USB or the new Stereo Headphones out we unlock a series of embedded possibilities. Our patches were inspired by several of Allan's iconic tones such as his smooth mid focused lead, his synthaxe, multi-delay and modulated clean tones and his Metal Fatigue like harmonized leads.
The short piece demonstrating some of the tones is titled "Bells for Allan". While Dr. Lausell is still recovering from his injuries he still wanted to record this simple hommage to one of his favorite musicians and human beings. In Dr. Lausell's his own words " Allan is the humblest person I have ever met".

Excellent work on these and others you have developed. Almost gave up on this little amp!

Thanks! They definitely got something going on. These amps remind me of what Holdsworth did with the Yamaha DG80 and DG1000 which were digital amps in the 90s except that these have a much more generous array of effects.
I do hope one day Boss decides to put a stereo out in addition to the USB port. They do have a stereo headphone out on the new version but it disables the internal speaker. If they sort this out you can plug into a P.A. and still get stereo imaging.
