There have been a bunch of cases where the unraveling of a fake school/work life ended with family members being murdered. Morality and common sense about the exit strategy aside, I do think the killers overestimate how traumatic or inescapable the shame of being exposed would have been.

What you’re saying about just stepping back and thinking about things in perspective is so true. I can imagine how someone lying about being in university or graduating could get in over their head, but killing your parents? Do anything but that. It doesn’t even make sense. Own up to things. For gods sake, just run away if you feel like you can’t ever admit what you did, but don’t murder someone. It’s like the people who don’t want to get caught robbing someone so they kill them; youre gonna get caught, and it’s gonna be worse than your original crime.
I don't think it was about that with him, I think it was realizing if they know he's got no real reasons not to work, they'd force him to. Running away would require getting a job to survive, responsibilities etc. He just wanted to sit and play videogames. He was looking for a way to continue that

Bro the comedic perspective you put on these situations where you can only assume what’s going through their heads is masterful. To find the funny in all these horrific situations is amazing to me, I’m always laughing my ass off at these takes
That fact that he decapitated his parents and then put their heads into the fireplace is just too much horror for me to wrap my head around. Imagine the visual experience and memory he must have of doing that. I guess it takes a real psychopath to not have any reaction to something as traumatic as that. SCHMEEDA!!!!
His parents and everyone around him obviously loved him and all he had to do was say what was going on. When I was younger and addicted I stole a lot of money from my parents, considered suicide, but knew if I just came clean they would forgive me. It gets back to normal quicker than you think.
@Rabbi Ezra Schekelstein What a strange comment from someone who poses as a rabbi online. Not everyone is as unyielding, cruel, and unforgiving as you. Most people believe in compassion and second chances- especially for someone as dear to them as their own children.
Almost same exact situation here. When I finally came clean & told them I was addicted to heroin (explaining where a lot of her jewelery went) it was such a relief off my shoulders. I mean seeing the heartbreak in my mom's eyes almost killed me at the time, but coming clean was the best decision I've ever made. It took time to regain her trust but we've gotten over that hump & are probably closer than ever. Glad to hear you also had loving parents that were willing to stick by you.
@Rabbi Ezra Schekelstein You can see every comment you’ve made on this page. You seem like the future subject of one of these videos. Definitely something wrong with your wiring.

What he said at 7 minute mark is something so many people need to hear. I thought that was so nice to be encouraging. When you are going through it you think there is no way out of it. There always is. ❤️
You may have mentioned this already Scott, but when Chandler's girlfriend Cat stayed with him at his parents' house right after the murders, he put a lot of planning into where they slept. He built an elaborate 'bed' for the two of them in the living room, by pushing two big sofas together. This was challenging and slow to get in and out of, requiring a big climb over the couch backs/arms. Somehow the two of them watched movies, ate snacks, had sex and slept together lying inside this artfully constructed 'fortress'. He'd never done this before and you might assume Cat thought it odd, but I guess it didn't ring any alarm bells with her. The couple usually slept upstairs in Chandler's room, where he had a perfectly comfortable bed and widescreen TV. The purpose of the two-sofas arrangement was obvious. It was so Chandler could keep control of Cat's movements throughout the night. He must have been shitting himself at the thought she might slip out of bed while he was snoozing, head down to the basement to get herself some ice cream from the chest freezer (as was her habit), and instead of finding 'Ben and Jerry's, find Bart and Krista's dismembered body parts. WOAH! I think she'd have lost her appetite for that 'Caramel Chew Chew' pretty quick, don't you? I also think she'd have found herself fleeing the house, with her psychopath boyfriend and his rifle in hot pursuit. The last thing a double-killer needs is a living witness, right? Guess he may as well make it a triple-killing. Not that Norman Bates would want to kill his girlfriend, obviously. Sawing up and dumping two human bodies was the most work the lazy shitbag did his entire life - he needed another inconvenient corpse on his hands, like a hole in the head.
The surprise visit of Krista's coworker on july 2 late afternoon must have shaken him up real bad. Like in the Joel Guy jr or Amato case coworkers reacted very quickly yet in his case he managed to avoid a police welfare check. There were calls to the cops though before he reported them missing. Then on july 7 after he returned from Cres farm (to check on remains or deposit the weapon maybe) there was this car waiting in front of the home when he returned. Turns out it was an air conditioner repairman (Bart had fixed this meeting a while ago and Chaz was oblivious to it) and at first he did not want to let him into the house. Just after the repairman left Chandler drove to the police station to report his parents missing.
@@TheMundusvultdecipi Wow! I do recall the air con man's evidence now you mention it, I didn't know the context though, how funny! 'Chazzie' must have been shitting his diaper. Amazing how these evil sub-humans have the guts to kill unsuspecting family members, yet totally lose their nerve during the cover up phase. Served the murdering scumbag right.

TBH I think the girlfriend was the motivating factor in keeping these lies going. Like it would exactly be pleasant to own up to the lies with his parents, but they’re family and it’s not like they’d disown him. The gf on the other hand, chandler probably felt like she was way out of his league, especially every time he would reflect on how much of a loser and a failure he is. To him, killing his parents was a better outcome than losing the gf, or even worse having her think he’s a loser
He was definitely on thin ice. A lot of the evidence against him came from her because she knew he was a liar and was mistrustful of him. I'm sure she had NO IDEA the severity of it all though.
She was 21 and he had an IQ of 21. She has two legs, he has two legs, but her legs work and his don't. The writing was on the wall, it was destined to fail shortly after her 22nd birthday.
This is the first case I’ve watched the trial for. There were so many gut wrenching moments when witnesses close to him were called to the stand. It’s always refreshing to hear your cheery intro and listen to your perspective of the case.
WHOA Scott !!! "what kind of 23-year old gets grounded?" - this made me suddenly think of Jennifer Pan (who was also "grounded' by her parents in her twenties ) - that young woman in Canada who arranged to have both her parents killed (her father survived, miraculously) and she too, had a history of lying, and had faked going to University and working (volunteering?) at a hospital for some years ? before her parents found out !
Scot is one of the very few people I've only seen on the Internet that I would genuinely love to meet in person 😁 Scot if you finally decided to put ads at least at the beginning and the end of your videos you could make more of these gems and I would definately let those ads roll...Great content anyway and I am very grateful 💖 Hugs to you and all the Schmeeda fam out there!
I'm with you...the ads would be totally ignorable, and I hope Scott will consider it. And yes, Scott is like a real friend, as opposed to the friends in old Chandler's life!
As the mom of a grown son, I find these cases such as Grant Amato and Joel Guy fascinating and disturbing. Who kills their parents? Why dismember them? What happened in the parent/child relationship that you think this is the answer to your problems? I understand that people go off and kill all kinds of people for all kinds of reasons, but killing your parents just seems beyond the pale.
A lot of these cases, it seems like the perpetrators are deeply, deeply disturbed. In this case, he's almost certainly a narcissist, and probably had some violent tendencies. The likelihood that he escalated to murder immediately is very low. I'd be extremely interested to know if he has any documented mental health history. It seems like he constructed his own personal hell, to the point where murder seemed reasonable. He must have had some side effects from the massive stress of managing his insane lies
@@Tibyon same, I wish they did psych evaluations on these people, like Chandler, Chris Watts, Jennifer Pan, Joel Guy Jr, to name a few then share their findings on here! They pass on the most important part!

every single time space aliens are mentioned i am reduced to tears. this is comic genius. i have to keep reminding myself that its a true story, not a pitch meeting.
I think that Chandler’s parents looked the other way over his lies etc for so long that he had no idea just how stupid he really was. He didn’t just start lying and cheating when he was of college age - old Chandler was a liar from the time he could talk.
Good point! He thought he could convince the police since he thought he could convince his parents of anything. What he failed to take into account was how unlikely it was that his parents were actually convinced of his myriad lies. At some point, they probably realized it was easier to nod their heads and pretend along with his BS than it would've been to try calling him out. He seems the type to throw a fit when confronted with his own dishonesty.
@@kingayy9267 I have a half sister like that, She is a narcissist and we found out she had been lying to and defrauding our dad for years, decades. I'm the only one who had the guts to confront her, but also as my dad was diagnosed with dementia I got lawyers involved to protect him financially. We found out that she had manipulated our father into making a will in her favour only, leaving all his money and investments, his house and his car to her alone. This was all reversed and an equitable will drawn up and I was made POA of his finances and his health and well being. You can imagine how much she hates me and I've had 5 years of relentless harassment and hate......18,000 abusive texts.....not counting the screaming phone calls and hundreds of emails.......
@@stephanie4698 No, personality disorders ca be diagnosed at 15 but not before. Which is often a mistake for bewildered parents who are given many diagnoses which are all wrong thus no help. In some cases psychiatrists etc know the child is a psychopath but are not allowed to tell the parents that until the child is 15......meantime the condition is growing out of control. One shrink knew and all he could tell the parents was that they were in for a really hard time. He wasn't kidding. He became an arsonist as a teenager caused caused massive fires and in some cases, fatal ones. He couldn't hold down a job for long so his father allowed him to work in the family business, against the mother begging him not to - she was more clued up about how destructive he was. So he ended up wrecking the family business and causing other long term employees to leave because of his violence and intimidation. He also ripped the business off and was colluding with their competitors. He ended up being caught for the arsons and got life in prison. And in actual fact a child's personality and temperament is fixed at age 6. A famous saying by a philosopher is "Give me your son till age 6 and I will give you the man".
These type of cases really enrage me. I would've given a piece of me to get an ounce of support from my mother. What an entitled brat. Thanks for the upload 😘
I literally just failed out of medical school. Things this semester didn’t work out due to mistakes I made and other circumstances. It was embarrassing and I’m very disappointed in myself. But I was honest. I told my family, friends, classmates and coworkers as soon as I realized this outcome was likely. No one shunned me or shamed me. The support I received from other students and even professors was so overwhelming. My part time job offered me a full time salaried position with benefits. While I recognize I am lucky and put a lot of work into making these friendships and connections, still, LIFE GOES ON. There was absolutely a way to salvage his relationships and turn his life around. But to do that he would have to be honest and take accountability… so here we are:
Medical school is really hard, I'm sure no one could fully blame you. If your professors, peers and your work all rallied behind you, I'm sure you are deserving of it
I failed out of life. it's ok you can still be a dentist 🦷 or an engineer or biologist. Hey why not be an engineer there's lots to discover, you could work for Tesla in the beautiful bay area right by Santa Cruz. Just ideas of course millions of things you can do.
The disappointment in friends and families faces when you tell them you have dropped out of university or left a "good" job is hard. BUT instead of killing em, just cut them loose.

I really appreciate your PSA advising people that they CAN get through something like this with their parents. I had a friend in this situation as well. Sure, things were uncomfortable at home for a little while but it turned out her parents just wanted her to find something she liked. She ended up as a nanny. Her parents were both successful in the medical field and she was concerned about not living up to their socioeconomic standards. No murders occurred. That was in the 1990’s and she’s still doing fine, married with three kids, and still ended up living in a “good” neighborhood.

@@harorider96 me too! I watched a whole bunch of the trial so have a good idea of the events but it is always interesting to see Scott run us through it all.
Chaz used COVID to help with his lies. He “worked” and did “school” from home… so, if he was in his room on a headset and sitting in front of a computer that was his explanation. That’s why Snapchat locations at home so much didn’t destroy his work and school lies.

Running away would require getting a job to survive, responsibilities etc. He just wanted to sit and play videogames. He was looking for a way to continue that
I can’t wrap my head around why he would kill the people supporting him the most. It’s clear he loved his laziness more than his own parents.
Well said!
@@bloodyneptune yeah but idk how going to jail would achieve that goal 🤷♀️ maybe he was just one of those people dumb enough to think he could get away with it, but I always find that hard to believe. Then again, I don’t know him and there’s definitely people like that out there

I have a feeling he was too lazy to participate in his own defense, but also to lazy to plead guilty so they didn't really have anything to work with.
If they put a tv and video game system up there that would have coaxed him up there 🤔😁
His parents and everyone around him obviously loved him and all he had to do was say what was going on. When I was younger and addicted I stole a lot of money from my parents, considered suicide, but knew if I just came clean they would forgive me. It gets back to normal quicker than you think.
Great comment, Schmeed. Glad you made it back from the other side.

Hear hear 🖤🖤🖤
holy cow
Lol you took all that from another video

Same here. I started to watch Scott awhile ago and stopped because there were no graphics. He doesn't need any. I'm so glad I gave it another shot, or shawt as the detective in the late Phillup Markoff said. TCL is my favorite channel now
There really is no need to check the pictures when Scott tells the story.
Same, Schmeed fam. Seems like a million years ago!
Scott is the best, been with him since the beginning
The GPS tracking expedition/search for body parts sounds like the worst scavenger hunt ever. 😱
You could be right bolt as I don't think it was just for the money it was so over kill

“What’s going to happen to me?” Jennifer Pan to her interrogator.
What a freakin’ piece of dreck she is!

@Reality Reviews if you notice in his interrogation they offer him aspirin and he says "I thought you said adderall ^
@@Tibyon same, I wish they did psych evaluations on these people, like Chandler, Chris Watts, Jennifer Pan, Joel Guy Jr, to name a few then share their findings on here! They pass on the most important part!

I'm imagining Chandler's weak legs suddenly becoming strong as he is about to kill his family. Like a super villain rising before he strikes.
I think that Chandler’s parents looked the other way over his lies etc for so long that he had no idea just how stupid he really was. He didn’t just start lying and cheating when he was of college age - old Chandler was a liar from the time he could talk.
A born psychopath.......there are signs early on, even as babies, but they can't be officially diagnosed until they are aged 15.
@@juanitarichards1074 I heard it was 25, because that's when the brain is fully developed.

I really appreciate your PSA advising people that they CAN get through something like this with their parents. I had a friend in this situation as well. Sure, things were uncomfortable at home for a little while but it turned out her parents just wanted her to find something she liked. She ended up as a nanny. Her parents were both successful in the medical field and she was concerned about not living up to their socioeconomic standards. No murders occurred.
