Florence Quivar is just one of those singers where you can just sit back and smile at the amount of spirit she brings to any music! Out of all the great voices, Florence is my absolute favoite for Spirituals, and such a beautiful person. What an absolute treat this was. Thank you for posting!
Thank you for posting this video. I was lucky to see Ms. Quivar twice in live concerts during the 1990s in the Atlanta area. At her concert at Spivey hall in Jonesboro Georgia she actually stayed and talked to me for about an hour. Just Chit Chat. She is an Amazing Talent and such a gift to the world.
Fame maybe not but she certainly reached their level of success. It is interesting to note she probably made more commercial recordings than Bumbry did
My friend it is hardly disrespectful to voice one's musical taste and preferences. However, you my statement declaring Quivar "better" is not useful. I shall choose my adjectives more carefully in the future.

Truly one can learn a thing or two upon Madame Quavir 's artistry.
It seems she never reached the level of success as Grace Bumbry and Shirley Verrett…does anyone know why?
The irony in that is that she was a better singer and musician than both Ms. Bumbry and Verrett.
