Renee Montgomery, co-owner of the Atlanta Dream, just sparked a huge controversy by basically telling Caitlin Clark supporters they're not wanted. But here's the real question: Is this just about new fans, or is there something deeper going on in the WNBA?
This is crazy, right? An owner pushing away potential fans when the league needs growth. It's like she's trying to stop the WNBA from getting bigger. You know what's even wilder? Montgomery actually said, "It's OUR League... You Are Not Like US!" Talk about making people feel unwelcome!

She said "people that don't tan". It was a racist remark by a WNBA team owner. There is no excuse in this day and age.
If the races had been reversed then she would have been forced out one league. Funny how blatant racism is considered perfectly acceptable when it is directed against “white people”.

She should be thrown out of the league for what she said like they did with the old owner of the dream thats my opinion
She (and many others) do NOT understand that the league belongs to the FANS. They are the reason you get endorsements, jersey sales, ticket sales, and PAID, the reason you have an indoor court to play on. The fans pay for that! No fans, no league. Otherwise you are just a bunch of people playing pick-up games. FOR FREE! Fans are the reason you get to make a living playing a game! The good and the bad. As I told my kids when they were young, "You can be anything in this world you want to be. As long as you are willing to put in the work, and suffer the consequences."
You can give Montgomery all the facts, but you can’t make her think. Poor business woman.
That is an owner that is destined to fail. They play in a 3500-seat arena. They made more money when their home game moved to the State Farm Center for one game than 4 or 5 home games. CC just about made them more money for the season than the Dream did.
This fiasco, whose the root? Where it started? Who caused it? That's what should be addressed, if not then more of this will come, it will not stop and cause more trouble in the future. The provoker must be sanctioned and punished and must be held responsible.
No league should target the fans whatever they are. The players, league officials, team owners they are so shellshocked after years of being ignored as a league.

In another video they were discussing the price of tickets for this year playoffs against last year playoffs. In last year you could purchase tickets for all the playoff games for around $130.00 total. This year just the Fever and CC tickets start at $131.00 per game. If those figures are true when they are playing at a sellout venues how much additional money has her fan base generated for the league. We're talking about millions of dollars. I'm pretty sure the owners get a percentage of the gate, so if I was her I'd shut my mouth and enjoy the ride she's on.
