Probably the most underrated player of all-time. When I hear people who think they know hockey talk about "the greats," people rarely bring up Francis. In a way, I think that's how he'd want it. He never tried to be bigger than the game or his team. He simply went out there every night to win a game with the utmost class and grace. NUMBER 10 FOREVER!
"Respect for the honesty and integrity of the game." Francis was taught it, said it, lived it. If you have a kid growing up playing hockey, this is the guy you want them to see. While Ron thanks his family hugely here, what he doesn't say is that his brother Ricky is a special needs adult and the two of them growing up together gave Ron some great human gifts and the perspective that hockey is just a game. I wish more people played these great thunderous games with his class and grace.
