Hey Chase, is it possible to get the same results with speedlights? I don't have the same budget as you do and don't have the needs for strobes other then for ski shooting. so it would be unnecessary to buy something and use it for a short period of time.
Chase, First off great job on the skiing video, but i want to know, How did you get the skier to do the repeating images, like where i saw 10-20 skiers all in a line? I thought that was cool, i have a Nikon D50, with a SB -800 flash. How can i get pics to do that? Thanks
Are you guys getting any motion blur from ambient? The flash freezes most of it I'm but when shooting in bright conditions how about the ambient side of the skier?
***** you best go back and re-watch the video. His shutter is at 250 max sycn speed on the Nikon. only way to break that is by hyper syn. and for that he would have to use pocket wizard and then he would not be able to shot that kind of sequence.
+Diego Lorenzo Jose Pretty sure it wasn't tag sharp, but mostly. And a lot of photoshop work to be done based on how the shot was achieve in the video. ; )
That is so great..! I especially love the last photo sequence with the yellow jacket (west I assume?) at dusk. The strobes really make it pop in that beautiful dark background. Beautiful. Plus, he looks pretty freakin' sweet in the air.!
when they tests if the broncolor can keep up with the frame rate.... why dos the strob seem to not have an even flash like it looks like half is lite and than only abit ????
All the recent major flagship mobile phones do this (HTC One, Samsung Galaxy S4, Nokia Lumia 925...). Of course we are talking orders of magnitudes of difference, but if you're only trying to post something to Facebook, that might suffix. Search for "htc one action sequence shot" on google images, for example.
Because it's not in sync with the video camera that's shooting it. You can get the same effect on your own slr if you set your shutter speed too high or beyond the max sync speed of the camera.
This is a photographer, I wanna have same skills. I am already owning my 3rd Nikon body. d40, d90 and d300s: -) . Maybe one day, but I am a graphic designer and a programmer at the same time. Go and google for Moroz Any Image Converter - opens even NEF Raw!
have to be careful which generator he uses there is pure power I believe and no pure...The pure power doesn't surge which can lead to blowouts...I know the honda's are used a lot and are very reliable however I am not sure whether they are the pure power or not
A photographer I assist screwed up one of his profoto packs using his lights on a generator. Im sure the Chase and the lads know what theyre doing with their one, but you have to be careful.
Is it just me or does Chase, when uttering slang superlatives i.e. "sick, filthy, nasty, etc.", sound like he just recently started using those words- like when an english teacher trys so hard to be hip with his high school class
pffff tu n'expliques rien du tout !! tu montres juste ton matos et je ne suis pas convaincu par le résultat ... A suivre .... Délire ! je vérifie l'expo en regardant le rendu de ma photo sur l'écran . bref sans aucun interet .
The reason I started following Chase all those years ago just the experience and it just excites me about photography and creativity
What can I say that it hasn't been said already? Truly amazing man! Just keep those videos coming for our inspiration!! Thanks again.

love the videos!
its nice when the pros show you how its done!
keep the good work up chase!
I have so been looking foreward to this^^
How do you focus your subject ? Did the camera stay in one position or did you pan the camera ?
Thanks
Wow! Fab work Chase!
Wonder if a long exposure with a stroboscopic setting on canons 580EX2 can do something similar? Interesting application!
Are you guys getting any motion blur from ambient? The flash freezes most of it I'm but when shooting in bright conditions how about the ambient side of the skier?
hes shooting over 1/2000 so i doubt he has any issues. ive had the same issues but i use speedlights and only sync at 1/160
***** you best go back and re-watch the video. His shutter is at 250 max sycn speed on the Nikon. only way to break that is by hyper syn. and for that he would have to use pocket wizard and then he would not be able to shot that kind of sequence.
Allan Chapman my mistake. his FLASH duration was 1/2150
+Diego Lorenzo Jose Pretty sure it wasn't tag sharp, but mostly. And a lot of photoshop work to be done based on how the shot was achieve in the video. ; )
what was the f number and how do you focus on the moving object?? thank you for the video
i love the sound of that strobe
Sick!! What sort of focus system were you using?
Chase you're a monster!!!!!
That is so great..! I especially love the last photo sequence with the yellow jacket (west I assume?) at dusk. The strobes really make it pop in that beautiful dark background. Beautiful. Plus, he looks pretty freakin' sweet in the air.!
Sweet. I like how you added I'm the stairs/railing at the end too.
@achaser123 what lense did you shoot the skiiers with that where going off the jump at night with the strobe light??????
P.S: Thanks for sharing. Chase is a god, he got the energy, I love watching those videos. ...
Peace.
Ahh I just love the sound of that broncolor flash head!
Wow... I am speechless...
Pretty dang cool Chase!!!
Why not. Slower framerate will help camera to write pics to the card and the sequence can be longer.
Were you using the 12-24 for this?
@RobyllPhotos
The D3S is way better than the D3, the new sensor has made the images way less grainy/noisy compared to the D3 at the same ISO!
How do you guys make the single pictures you take into the one final one at the end???
question: Why are they strobeing? coundt they just use a continuous light instead??
how do you set up the strobes? i dont get it? do i put my d90 with long exposure? Thanks
That was sick!
How do I combine 8fps images into one! Like at the end..u see all the action! Thank you
what lens was he using?
I like how the sync cable come undone :) But yeah. amazing shooting. How many hours Scott is doing postwork on one that kind of image?
Keep the camera steady on a tripod. Shoot strobes like seen in the video. Then in photoshop or gimp combine all the images and Bingo!
Off the charts, inspiring!!! Awesome
COOOOOL
I like your channel.
I'm a photographer from Belgium
Your a role model for me=)

when they tests if the broncolor can keep up with the frame rate.... why dos the strob seem to not have an even flash like it looks like half is lite and than only abit ????
can you shoot like this at 4fps but stick like 2 sequences together ?
Thanks for the inspiration Chase .... More notice when you come to NZ next please :)
spectacular

How did Chase combine all the photos to get 4:40?
Nice work! It's amazing
Because it's not in sync with the video camera that's shooting it. You can get the same effect on your own slr if you set your shutter speed too high or beyond the max sync speed of the camera.
sweeeeetttt images at the end!
What fisheye was that at the start?
Omg, this is sick))
sorry this for noob question. anyone knows how to achieve that effect at 4:43. THANKS! :D
what' with the beeping sound then??? i wonder how he set his AF.
Honda Eu3000is produces very clean power. I have one.
Awesome, can you please tell me how do you merge the photos?
there are millions of tutorials on that. search action sequence photography

I guess it was 14-24. But I may be wrong because I'm using a canon gear.
i want that photo at the end for my screen saver
Which lens did you use? the 24-70 mm??
have to be careful which generator he uses there is pure power I believe and no pure...The pure power doesn't surge which can lead to blowouts...I know the honda's are used a lot and are very reliable however I am not sure whether they are the pure power or not
Yeah, I found the money part wasn't cheap. But thanks for the comment anyway
So, the athletes didn't get epileptic attacks after repeating this so many times? :D
BRONCOLOR = WIN!
that was cool... (:
The athletes must be epileptic by the end of this session
its not a fisheye, its the 14-24 2.8 nikon
i seriously doubt it...
Dude dont run that equipment on that Gen Set your CRAZY there is equipment to protect and clean the power
Results? Looks good on the video, but where are the photos??
Hes a pro. He obviously didn't do that for demonstration purposes. He made it for a client...
I still want to see the photos. Photographer vs. cinematographer.
D50 doesn't have a high enough FPS to do that.
@tim66214 learn how to edit! i have made a few videos explaination of how but when there is twenty it take a good while
unless you have the 7D, 1DX or the D3s, you can't

Nice work. Gave me so many Ideals.
Must be lucky to have Ashton Kutcher on his team.
i don't think he panned the camera... but it's not that hard.
@reignofthpro Photoshop.
in the end u still u use photoshop !!!!

wtf kind of shirt is that???
Try that with a STROBE 5000 pack! Not even a 1000k with a booster box on it.
The more mature amongst you will know what I mean!
Good post.
There is an android app to do this in one click.
seriuosly who put negative feedback on this comment?
