- This block finishes at 9". A great way to use up scraps. Simply cut squares and use the stitch and flip method to piece these star blocks. And the best thing about this method is you never cut off the star points! have made many Quilts of Valor using this method.

So missed your block speaking tutorials Carol, much prefer them, you have such a grand way of teaching, and love the accuquilt suggestions too. Please do more :)
Thank you so much! I plan to do more in the coming year! Thanks for watching.
Thank you for making quilts of valor! My sister works at a home for homeles vets. A while ago they got a bunch of quilts in, more than enough for each resident to have one.
And one of the ladies said, "And they're NOT red, white and blue!" I got to see the quilts, so many nice color pallettes, and scrappy ones! The case workers snd psychologists working there were all thrilled with the color choices.
My sister told me that a lot of veterans really would rather have a quilt in their favorite colors, rather than red, white, and blue.
Of course, they are always grateful for any quilt, especially up North where winter is setting in.
I have seen so many quilts of valor being presented, and all the Veterans are so moved by the quilts. I don't think they mind the colors or the quality of construction. It is the act of receiving the gift that's important, I think! But I have to admit that I love the red, white and blue!
