    You really are a sewing magician, Cath. I haven't worn a skirt for 15 years or more but when I was younger (and thinner!) I used to love short pleated skirt with an oversized roll neck sweater. I absolutely love your brown Estuary skirt and it reminded me of that outfit. I have just bought some fabric to make a sweater so I am going to buy that skirt pattern to go with it and to hell with a few extra pounds!!!!

    I love every skirt you made and they all look amazing on you. What great idea to shorten the estuary skirt. I made one in a chambray and I feel quite frumpy in it so I think shortening it might be the way to go. You’ve also inspired me to make changes to another skirt and a dress. Thank you for sharing 😁

      Thank you very much for watching! I feel much more comfortable in a shorter estuary skirt, I love the midi length on others but it doesn’t feel right for me. I’m so glad to have inspired you 😊

    Loved this vlog. Really interesting to hear your favourite skirt patterns. I don’t wear skirts very often but all your versions are beautiful. Love your Camden skirts. It’s making me want to try the skirt - I’ve made a few pinafores xx

    Have you tried spraying and ironing starch into a slippy fabric? I haven’t tried it myself yet but I believe it helps quite a bit.

    Thank you sooo much for this vlog it literally came at the perfect time, as I’m making a olive pinafore in a heavy cotton, and have a small amount of fabric left - perfect for a winter skirt :) I was so confused, but thanks to you, I have decided to go for the tulip skirt.... wish me luck 💛

    Hi Cath, that was such a useful and helpful vlog 👌😁. I really appreciate these types of video and love seeing your favourites and versions that you have made 💕. I love them all but I think my favourite is the Nina Lee Camden... I adore the pocket and fit. I'm definitely considering that one and also the Moss skirt by Grainline Studio 👌. I haven't made a zip fly yet so might give a skirt a go first in perhaps a cheaper fabric to start with. Would you say the Camden had the best instructions for the fly? Thanks so much for all your work explaining everything so well and really looking forward to seeing your next five favourites 👍😁💓😘

    • @madebycathcraft
      @madebycathcraft  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks so much Sally, I’m so glad you found the video helpful! 😊💖 I really love the shape and the pockets on the Camden too. It has an invisible zip at the back, rather than a fly zip. I found the moss skirt instructions good for a fly zip, or another pattern that has really great fly zip instructions is the chi town skirt & shorts pattern by Alina design co. I’ve only made the shorts from this pattern so far but the skirt is a bit similar to the moss skirt and their instructions are super detailed for a fly zip. Thanks so much for watching 😊💕 I’ll hopefully be doing another 5 favourites once half term is finished 😊🤞💕

      Thank you very much! Oh that’s strange re the free tutorial as the link in the vlog notes works for me 🤔 It should come up if you google ‘Megan Nielsen elastic waist skirt’. It’s page title is ‘beginner sewing projects: how to make an elastic waistband skirt’ it’s a blog post from nov 2009. Hope that helps!

    I made the mistake of lining a skirt in Muslim. After pulling the lining down for a winter I made sure to use a slippy fabric the next time.

    • @madebycathcraft
      @madebycathcraft  Рік тому

      Oh no! The type of lining makes such a big difference doesn’t it!

  • @rosyclaire
    @rosyclaire 4 роки тому

    Please, please, please can you also list where you get your fabrics from. The lining fabric for the rust coloured corduroy skirt sounds very interesting as polyester gives me a rash.

      I’ve just updated the description box below to include where I got the fabric for each skirt. Some of the fabrics were bought a while ago so might not still be in stock but hopefully it will help show where I like to source fabric from 😊
