My first car was the minx blue with black roof which was a factory option. Same year 1966 only mine had holes in the floor which came in handy to let the water out due to really bad leaks. 1725cc it went like a rocket. I originally bought the car for £15 and the chap who owned it had lost his license so part of the deal was to give him a push bike. Happy days 1974😅
Believe it or not, I have one in Pennsylvania in the Poconos. Mine is the same color and LHD with a weird little automatic transmission. It’s pretty slow, so it mainly goes to weekend car shows occasionally 2:03 . It’s name is Daisy after the “Keeping up Appearances” character.❤
Autotransmision is a BW35 conventional 3 speed automatic Earlier Hillmans had the option of a semi-automatic that used a ferromagnetic electrical clutch. With this earlier transmission it is absolutely vital the DC generator and battery are in first class condition
Hillman Minx, there was also the more upmarket Singer Gazelle and sporting Sunbeam Rapier. Probably the type of car Margaret Thatcher was driving in 1966 long before she became Britain's first woman prime minister.
It is a 1967 not a 66. The engine will be the later 1724cc. Rootes lost sales when then went from 1592 to 1725cc because it put the car into a higher insurance group. This why the Arrow range was sold in both 1500 and 1725 models
WOW this car ROCKS had many now classics and wish this was mine
It was the only Hillman Minx that I really liked prior to the arrival of the Hunter in 1966.
My old neighbour here iin Glasgow purchased one new in the late 60s in a light brown colour 😮 but a niceky styled car all the same.
Stunning

Bought my light blue 1725cc Minx in 1976 for £50.
