As the Deer written by Martin Nystrom
Lyrics:
As the deer panteth for the water
So my soul longeth after you
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship you
You alone are my strength, my shield
To you alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship you
You're my friend and you are my brother
Even though you are a king
And I love you more than any other
So much more than anything
Chorus
I want You more than gold or silver
Only You can satisfy
You alone are the real joy giver
And the apple of my eye
Chorus
Alternate New Verses (by anonymous) based on further meditation of Psalm 42 and the original tune. These are being used in a few communities in northeastern Massachusetts:
Based on Psalm 42:5:
When my soul is weighed down with sorrow,
I put all my trust in You.
All my hope is in You, my Savior,
So I lift my praise to You.
Chorus
Based on Psalm 42:8:
Day by day You send forth your love,
And it waters all the earth;
Night by night Your song within me
is my prayer and my rebirth.
Chorus

As you can see, it is in the key of D major.
I transposed it up a fourth to the Key of G, one sharp.
Since I recorded it on a C trumpet, the highest note becomes a "G".
It's a nice piece.
Soli Deo Gloria
Very nice!!! Thank you.
I feel blessed to discover your channel sir. Greetings from a Tanzanian brother.
A soul that seeks unification with spirit❤️
Mr. Moke...I've been listening to your "out of this world" playing for the last two days, and
the melodies you play stay in my head till I can hardly get to sleep! Thank you for the great explanation you wrote describing how you moved this up a bit so that what can hear that great "G"!!!!! May God BLess You Richly, Mr. Moke! BRAVO! Thanks to all and YT too!

Oh the energy of spiritual songs❤️
Not a religious person but I love religious tunes and choral music. Sometimes makes me weep and think of sad times past and I wonder if there's anything more!!
Shot in the dark but does anyone know of a website/have the pdf for the trumpet & organ part. It seems the link in the description no longer works :(
I posted the link in the "show more"
It's a nice piece.
Soli Deo Gloria
God Bless you fellow trumpet player. Best Wishes in your life.
Lovely piece.I got sheet music and play it on clarinet. Doesn't sound as ethereal and out of this world though.
Hi Tim I was wondering if there was a way of obtaining a pdf copy of this beautifully played arrangement for the organ for my wedding. I could not follow the link above to find one.
knicksloverr Here it is: www.onlinesheetmusic.com/as-the-deer-p170112.aspx
or here it is (this is the easier website, but will not be able to transpose to a higher key - I play it up a P4 in the key of G - I play it on a C trumpet). If one uses a B-flat trumpet, the key of concert F major may be better which puts the B-flat trumpet in the key of G) : www.musicnotes.com/sheetmusic/mtd.asp?ppn=MN0144341
Timothy Moke Thanks so much Tim!
I would love to walk down the aisle to this song. Where can I buy this? Can't find it on i-tunes. =0(
