To be perfectly honest? Leviathan was the final straw for me. I really like how No Step Back looks, really tempted, but I am still so blindingly pissed over how EU4's team handled that entire fiasco and the HOI4 team actually having the audacity to jump in and add their unsolicited opinion that every time I have started to buy it I find an excuse not to. Small correction, unless I got a free pack or something you can lend lease in the base game and the ai can too, you can’t request to be lend leased though
IMO, no matter what game you play, after 1k + hours it will become a love-hate relationship. It's just inevitable, the more you play the more waisted potential you notice, the more frustrated you become that the devs are being slowpokes and making weird decisions. It's not like RDR2 (which I like, but has objectively shallow gameplay) where you finish it once, maybe twice and just move on, forget about it.
I never really thought of it like that, I suppose it's true. Cause even my fav. games I don't have a 1000 hours in. That's an interesting observation and unfortunately I think you may be correct.

There's so many repetitive mechanics and "features" that the game may as well be held together with super glue and duct tape. Which is a shame because it used to be a fun arcadey game you could get into, but now its absolute garbage.
I ironically bought this game for Fallout and MLP mod, a decent decision I must say considering that base game isn't that much interesting when you taste the mods. Besides No Step Back, this shit is actually really good
Takes that long to learn all the different mechanics and just about the time you think you have a clue to what you are doing in all phases of the game a new DLC will drop that changes everything and you need to learn the new stuff and forget half of what you had learned for earlier versions.
The Allies should have a more accurate war support mechanic which forces conditional surrender after 6-7 years of war. I still can’t believe they haven’t done anything about that.
I am honestly a massive noob at this game, even with 100 hours, mostly watching other countries fight, I simply don’t even know how to build factories, maintain frontlines, manage units or make new researched equipment, not to mention I don’t know how to make divisions. I can only make spearheads and and try but fail to get used to the various mechanics.

ive played eu4 and managed to enjoy maybe 2 runs in a few hundred hours I have yet to be able to do anything in hoi4 I cant convert my brainrot it genuinely fucks with me
I also hate historic multiplayer games. LIke if i play as germany, i HAVE to invade poland by 1939 and france by 1940, it's like shut the fuck up. It's called a strategy game for a reason. I want to not go to war against the allies so i invade everything early. Or even better, invading the uk in 1937.
In fairness sometimes Spain or Italy will naval invade uk. I think Spain prepares invasion and just waits indefinitely tell naval balance shifts for even a sec.
In my first real game, I played for 18 hours straight without sleep, and I didn't even realize how immersed I was until I checked the time. No other game has done that to me in years. That being said, I'm beginning to hate it just as much as I fucking love it. It's gripped me so hard.

I started 2 wars after intensive researching on how I start a war and after the war I got completely owned even though I have 65 more troops then they do. my troops keep on complaining about supply's even though I have 50 supply planes doing nothing but the game doesn't seem to let me use them. then the game pops up with notifications that has no explanation, its just the name so I don't what the fuck they mean. my army's seem to have a mind of there own and sometimes doesn't want to do what I want them to do. sometimes I accidently order them but I cant delete the order because of some odd reason. And navy seems retarded and I couldn't care less about it. this game needs to help the player more and btw this was after I watch a 4 hour long tutorial (So um currently I have 1,200 hours in this game. I have played every single major and explored every single feature. I have done a aircraft only game, tank only game, and navy only game. and I'm gonna be honest with you. Dam this game is good. though I would never recommend this game as a roleplay game. Its strictly numbers, logistics, and strategy. When you play this game your not a story teller telling a story but a leader or commander. Leading you country into victory with precision 10/10 would play 1,000 hours more)

Spanish Civil War is like the main event before WW2 begins so yes it's always gonna be a big part of any playthrough and other civil wars are also integrated if the conditions are met.

You say that, but CK3 and 2 are even more DLC reliant. Also, the minor nations are really fun to play in HoI4, even moreso than the UK and America. I like Hearts of Iron the most because the games are quick, compared to EU4, CK3 and Imperator's massive campaigns which you get killed by a major power anyway.

In HOi4 you need mods or DLC to play as estonia and have any fun at all. I honestly didn’t even know CK3 HAD dlc so I would disagree with you that CK3 and Hoi4 have the same level of dlc dependancy. Hoi 4 with no dlc is way worse than ck3 with no dlc.
