You literally just described my experience for the first meeting I brought my son to, to sign him up. 🤣 not what I expected at all and I ended up walking out of there as a den leader. Our first den meeting is tonight and I'm so nervous!
Hi Kat, im a new Den Leader for my sons Tiger Den. How did your meeting go ? Ours is at the end of the month. I'm nervous too !!!
Same! Came to the first meeting to sign her up and now I’m being trained to be a lion leader! 😅
you made eye contact with the pack leaders! rookie mistake :D Yep, me too, second meeting tonight as a den leader. Oops.
This literally happened to me tonight 😂 brought my son to the first tiger den meeting and was asked to be the den leader. I said let me do some research before I commit. Here I am.
exacly totaly agree that i need to see what scoutleadership looks like
exacly what i feel is going on in my position right now im thinking about it but not knowing what im getting into
nice video Doug, thank you.
You are right about not being experienced that you lose half the den in the first six weeks. I saw it happen.
Great advice. Thank you!
I just signed my son up for the lions a month ago as of mid week we're the only family.... the cub master keeps telling us that more are coming but our first meeting is on Tuesday and I'm kind of freaking out lol
Greetings Lea, In many cases, the first 2 weeks of school is when a Pack will host a Signup night. This is a huge push and most packs see between 8 - 12 new Tiger & Lion Scouts join in. If you live in a small community or your Pack doesn't have a lot of experience with big promotions then it is possible you might be the only one. Your son could easily join the Tiger or Wolves (depending on size of the pack) for all of the fun "Go & See It" Night and Pack events. I would also encourage you to talk to the other parents in your son's class and see if any of them enjoy the outdoors and invite a friend.
Recruitment without screening? No thanks!
