All good I did beauty pageants for 2 years and was miss Pennsylvania both years, traveling to flordia for the miss america pageants both years, before quitting to continue pursuing bmx racing, basketball, baseball and bowling! Lol Parents saved years to give 1 mind blowing week long trip to Disney World (They drove 2 days, to save on flying fees for a fam of 6). And even that paid . They stopped to show us south of the border, among many other things otw, to entertain us on such a long trip ! Hell, they even put a cb radio in the van, so we could talk to trucks we passed who would honk and enterrain us ! Every other year they'd save all year to get 1 good week trip to Ocean City, MD (A friend of my dads had a trailer right on the Delaware line . So, we were able to swing it without hotel fees, again... for a fam of 6 !). They'd even set up the grill, put hours into phone calls and fliers with other parents, to coordinate who could bring what food/snacks/drinks/desserts. What items to send with their children, to accommodate their needs. Be it swim trunks, overnight stuff if they were staying over, mecications, whatever . Then fliers would be printed across the county and boom . Every year, at the end of the school year, it was time for the famous "Out of School Bash" . The local police would show up every single year to visit, patrol and hand stuff out to the kids (VOLUNTARILY I may add) and even the freaking NEWS showed up every year and would air it !!! They'd... Lay tarps down in the yard, for a slip and slide . Whiffle ball in the bottom half the yard . Baseball field across the street for a huge kickball game, followed by a walk down the hill to the public pool, to swim it out for the rest of the day . Back to a huge cookout, video games set up all throughout the house, drinks on the deck for parents (lots of parents chose to accompany their kids . Cause, who wouldn't want to 😂). Hell... Just so we could afford to go to Hersheypark every year, the newspaper (yk . When that was still useful), would hold some crafting contest or something, where you could win Hersheypark tickets ! Idr exact details..... but, my mom would turn the playroom into a crafting room. She'd invite whatever friends we wantes and then help us all at once with paper mache or whatever the theme was that year and then deliver them all to the newspaper office and got ALL of us our Hersheypark tickets ! I hate reading books on yt . But, this was worth every bit of annoying(ness) that came with typing on a huge tablet and having to delete/fix typos NONSTOP, for this long, just to relive those memories and share with others !
