CMC stands for Cooperativa Muratori e Cementisti - di Ravenna. It is an Italian construction company that was contracted by the derg to build a residential complex in that area for expatriates in Ethiopia. The complex still stands, but the residents are mostly Ethiopians now. CMC also built the newer conference hall at the UNECA. They used to have a big presence in Ethiopia, but not any more I guess
