  • New roof installation : In this video I took the time to record one of the most difficult areas of the roofs, The Valley area, step by step I tried to explain the way I do it .
    It might not be the only way , but it works for me and it's has proven results for the last 50 years at least or more , again stick to your building codes and have fun on the roof .
    Eric.

    Only true craftsman pays attention to details, excellent job bro. Being the fastest roofer doesn't give good details. I really like how you take your time to give such details. You will always be on top, keep up the good work bro.

    You are definitely the type of guy i want working on my house
    I've seemed to attract all the ones that don't care for some reason
    My gc was bragging how good his roofer was because he was so fast, I'm too scared to go up and inspect his work now, but i will have to eventually anyways.

    Details and leaks are what makes a good roof. You a tell you care how the finish product look down to the small details like painting all your roof penetrations. I agree with you 100% speed is for the field valleys, chimneys, skylights all the details can bite you in the ass in the end. I personally like weather watch or roll roof in the valleys but only because I live and worked in NY where ice a snow can be a problem. But nice work

    Have seen several of your video's and I like them very much. One thing that I've seen in most of them is that, it appears when you paint the metal & vent's upon completion, that there is paint 'overspray' on the roof itself. Would this be considered a 'detail'?

    what type of Valley can be done for the presidential shingles

    • @Garciasroofing
      @Garciasroofing  7 років тому

      George Leal ...you can only do valley metal, get a piece of wood batten 1x2 and run it along the valley to do your cuts, they come out perfectly straight

  • @billygraham5589
    @billygraham5589 6 років тому

    Why not use starter strip down the valley flashing instead of using shingles for that "California style" treatment of the the valley? Seems the shingles -- the split between the shingles -- on that valley flashing could act as a channel to draw water back under the shingles to the membrane -- and not that the membrane would leak, but . . . using a starter strip would eliminate that situation. (Well, maybe the split between the shingles is pitched slightly downhill, so water would not be drawn back under the shingles, but on a low pitched roof . . . ? Would not want to do the "California style" with actual shingles in a snow area, where water pressure could develop and really ram water back up the split between the shingles. Would do this "California style" in a snow area with a starter strip -- that would seem to be very safe to do, and even on low pitch roofs.)
    And at the end of the video, this guy is right about the speed of the roofers, speed is not really an issue. And I would NOT like to see guys going fast, because I suspect short cuts are taken. I don't do much roofing, but I can tell you on framing work I don't like when the subs I hire go fast EVEN WHEN THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING, and leaving me to fix their mistakes.

    How many weekends would it take two rookie people to replace a 13500 square foot roof in sections with the right equipment I want to do my grandparents roof with my cousin over the weekends. We are going to use architectural shingles. And yes the roof is 13500 it is huge!

      What are you talking about how is that a short cut? Closed cut valleys are much faster. Also if you're thinking of a woven valley you are wrong. That is only for 3 tab shingles. Not recommended for laminated/architectural shingles. That would be the only thing slower than this.
