I remember getting my dear old mother of 70 years old to watch this with me live on New Year's Eve one night. She ended up loving every minute of and brought us so much closer together🎉
"The Hangout Festival"? Whoever christened it that is a genius... I was just looking up Flaming Lips Live clips and this came up. I have no clue of the set list or what happens, I'm just really looking forward to it :) And I have to say, happiness and fun and being free is contagious... so much friendliness and good vibes surrounds the Flaming Lips. Let's all keep being this awesome and spread this fantastic illness further :D

Saw them for the first time this year at the all good festival when they held it right next to my house here in Ohio. I’ll never forget it they blew me away. Crazy to think that was 12 years ago now and I was only 17 then. Now I’m 29 with an 8 year old daughter. time really flies lol 💙
This was the best darkside set i've ever seen from them! The first few songs they played of theres were amazingly perfect too. Ive seen them over 50 times and this was definitely something special. Love life live like you know your dying tomorrow but living forever becoming the power of love!
I remember recording this on directv when it was live in 2012. I watched it afterwards for the first time and I was blown away. Obviously they are not Pink Floyd but damn this is pretty good. I lost my recording when I upgraded and we all have been through that. Lol. Found it again on you tube without the high video quality but still I love it.
I got the chance to interview Wayne for PBS before this show at Hang Out Fest. I actually was the first to inform him of the solar eclipse that was happening while The Lips were to perform Dark Side. So, I am the astrological expert Wayne refers to about 40 minuets in to the show! to check out the pre show interview check out the you tube channel MPB All Access. What an amazing experience!

Keep your crass opinions to yourself. Music is an artform in which like all art the beauty of it is in the eyes and ears of the person watching or listening to it. If you don't appreciate the Flaming Lips then please do not bother going to any of their videos. Go and listen to something which you like and leave those of us who enjoy the Flaming Lips in peace. Thank you
Just bought Clouds Taste Metallic. Its got some great songs on it and is often overlooked. I'd probably say my favorite is embryonic though. I just like the rawness and obscurity of it. I remember reading something about how they recorded it and you can totally picture them all jamming out together and coming up with ideas.
"The Soft Bulletin", because it's simply the most complete, and at the time it was released pointed to a sharp new direction for the band. Everything since built on that foundation. Not to say that the stuff before that wasn't great, as much of it was, it was just a different aesthetic they were pursuing up until then. Many critics regard this album as one of the best albums of all time.
@@chrisdaniels7760 oh well, you knew what he meant, obviously. Lol. But I guess it doesn't hurt to be informative and what not :) I sooo hate how it really is difficult to tell if someone is being pretentious and not picky and what have you, or if they really are just solely trying to be helpful and spread some knowledge. That's why i feel like I need to put a smiley face in any comment or message I write to someone that I feel could be misunderstood for something douchey or passive aggressively shady and shit, as far as tone and attitude go, I don't ever wanna come off as being rude when I am not intending to do so! Not saying I thought you came off as any of those things (the ones on the more negative side that I described above), you probably we're just letting the OP know the true name of the song, lol. It's just so crazy to me how difficult it is to accurately pick up on someone's tone or the purpose and intention behind their words, when it comes to texts/comment/direct messages. I know I already mentioned that and all but it's just so frustrating when someone maybe perceives that i have some kind of attitude in something I may write to them, or passive aggression, or just like....an all around COMPLETELY different perception of the meaning and the intention/purpose than what I had been intending. Crazy.
sp co Talkboxes actually don’t work off vocal cords, they just pump the sound from a soundproof amp-pedal through a tube into your mouth, so you just have to mouth the words... then that gets picked up by your vocal microphone onstage.
Really? I have theire oeuvre... and been working my way through them. I really love Transmissions from the Satellite Heart, but that's probably because I'm a newbie. I've liked Do You Realize since I first heard it, and I love their direction now... kind of a focused, organised love generation with a sky high weekly confetti bill. I'll take the time and listen to Soft Bulletin, thanks for the feedback :) Have you seen the vid on here where Wayne explains the motive/ ideas behind the 6 hour song?
I recently got their entire discography after I saw an interview with Wayne Coyne. It was a super cool/ funny/ interesting interview permeated with little clips from music videos they've done over the years. Didn't hear one song I didn't like, so absolutely getting into all their stuff! What's embryonic? I don't think I have that one. How did they record it then?! (looking forward to hearing about that!) :) Do You Realize is a song I want played at my funeral. Beautiful and really original.
Watching the yeah yeah yeah song. It got me thinking, How much could taking a or the pickups out of the 6 string side and making room for them on the 12 side have? I want to assume itll grab more sound, but my gut tells me there is probably more detrimental side effects that either makes it worse or junt dosent seem to do anything. Any takers on this one?
Just because they're there doesn't mean they're selected. the EDS-1275 allows you to select either the 12 or 6 string side, or both together... but being magnetic pickups and humbuckers, there would be very little effect from selecting both, even as far as interference on a high-power live stage is concerned.
Is it just me or is it weird that three guys called Chris & two specifically called Chris Miller commented on the same post? The blank picture 'Chris Miller' made a comment 5 years ago right under my own comment. I thought perhaps it was a profile of mine I didn't know I started. But nope, seems to be a real profile. Two Chris Miller's commenting on the same post, both 5 years ago 🤔 Quiet a coincidence I'd say 🤨 And it is written the exact way I write it too... "What is the name of the first song? I think it is the bomb!" Is profile real?
jaketaz She is Lizzy Allen from Vitamins and is classically trained and does a lot of country backing vox sessions. Probably didn’t have a good monitor reference onstage, or just can’t sing that song. Bear in mind all the other singers are off too, hard to beam in on the key if they’re in 3 slightly different ones.
i have seen them 6 times live and every time is life changing. best live band ever, imo
I remember getting my dear old mother of 70 years old to watch this with me live on New Year's Eve one night. She ended up loving every minute of and brought us so much closer together🎉
I was at this show, and got closer towards the end of the set. Ran into Wayne leaving the festival that night. All of it was freakin awesome
Ive seen the Lips at least a dozen times, their shows are so colorful and fun. If you cant smile at Lips concert, you have no pulse.
i'm amazed by how good the covers are, the lips never fail to amaze me

Yes, introduced by Tony Clifton. That's awesome!!!
Great visionary design on Dark Side Of The Moon...done by one of rocks great visionary bands.
I was up front for this show. My first time seeing these freaks was 1988.
This was my first time seeing them live. Had a ton of fun
They did the same for me at the Firefly Festival in Delaware in 2012. Best experience I think I've ever had watching a band.
Saw them for the first time this year at the all good festival when they held it right next to my house here in Ohio. I’ll never forget it they blew me away. Crazy to think that was 12 years ago now and I was only 17 then. Now I’m 29 with an 8 year old daughter. time really flies lol 💙
All I want in life is to jam Dark Side with freinds. This hits me in my soul

tanner williams no you don’t. Honesty, think of that crowd. Unless you like to piss in a diaper it’s best enjoyed on you couch
I was at this show. Caught a dollar that was in one of the balloons tossed out during "money" way cool show.
I actually really like the flaming lips dark side of the moon stuff. It's so raw and a totally different spin on it.
Drumming so Perfect!

Better than pink
As soon as they start jaming out you can instantly tell that's Kliph. Nice. Only one able to do it nearly as well as Steven.
I was right up front for this show
I discovered the band Phantogram from watching and re-watching this set frequently and I'm really glad I did!

That concert looked incredible. The stage we demolished after the first song.
Ok grandpa. They are awesome and fun as hell live.

agreed. in my opinion, the greatest album ever made.
Dark Side starts around the 39 minute mark. Good, good shit.

Tony Clifton??!?!?
Hey I
I don’t don’t want you to do to know know
That third balloon full of money was always meant to stay on stage! :)
Steven's eating the mic the whole time hahaha
Judson Kolk it's a talk box...it works off of the vocal chords.
I know monk, I'm jus kiddin 😉

Most bands avoid singing the song that made them famous but the lips dont even care

Ditch the intro that old dinosaur can't even use his own jokes.
Is there any possible way that's actually Bob Zmuda? doing Tony Clifton?
and actually Breathe/Speak to me was very very good
You're amazing dude... do you have a link to the interview? (Assuming it was a filmed interview) Seriously that's awesome... and is he a nice chap?
