From what I understand, the thin neck cases problems for battling with them, as it's a weak point, I actually think it's great of them to offer a "display" neck and a "battle" neck as they could go with the thin neck and just say "whelp, sorry" when they break. I can see the perspective of wanting to display it with a blade, but only kind of, because you're not gonna have it on all the time, and with a plain white blade, unignited, it's more of an eyesore personally.
Not true. Custom thin neck blades are battle tested.
@@ralphbrewster3241 They still are known to give out over time, especially during saberlocks. Dueling with thin neck sabers has never been recommended. Thin necks have always been more about display.
@Ralph Brewster tis true. Every "battle tested" video I've seen is extremely light hitting. My friends and I go hard-core when Dueling.
No one should be dueling with Hasbro/Disney Park sabers in general. Any saber with the LED’s in the blade should never be dueled with for the sake of reliability. There are much better 3rd party options out there that are hilt illuminated and can hold up to dueling. The reason these sabers have a thick neck is because Disney/Hasbro can’t be bothered to engineer a new interlocking blade system. It saves them money at the expense of quality and accuracy. Its the unfortunate reality of being greedy and lazy.
I might be an outlier but the thick neck adaptor doesnt bother me very much, but might be because I grew up with the master replica force fx which were all thick neck for Luke and Obi Wan with the blade permanently attached. the thin neck and adaptor is definitely an upgrade on what came before.

I am so happy that we we finally finally got the episode 3 / Obi-Wan Kenobi show version of the lightsaber.
It looks pretty good. The motion effect is not too bad compared to the older legacy sabers. I bought the Vader legacy saber beginning of last year and the swing effect is not too good.
Would like to know how much just the hilt alone costs when that it is released.
When I am combat training with other Jedis, during heavy saber lock, the thin neck light sabers are known to buckle from heavy use.
You cannot have that if you ever encounter a Sith.
That's why I love my old Texas Custom Sabers Luke. It's very primitive compared to the Custom Saber options nowadays, but the thin neck is one solid piece and ever so slightly thicker than other Luke sabers and I speak from experience when I say that it holds up very well in a duel.
Leia's is also a thin blade and comes with a usable adapter

cool design kinda disappointing that the adapter exists but still cool looking. I'm going to disney soon and I'm going between the skywalker legacy saber and kylo rens saber.
I looked at both when I went, the Kylo saber honestly feels & looks the most accurate imo. Plus it has the dual phase activation for the side blades which I thought was super cool. Definitely feels heavier/more durable than either Anakin’s or Luke’s
Isn't that misleading publicity, disney....? Hasbro do show you it has a thick neck when the blade is put

Getting a sense of déjà vu here, since it feels like we're getting a re release for Luke's lightsaber with the top remover and all. Ironic considering the fact that Luke's lightsaber design is based on obi-wan with a different color scheme. Still great unboxing looking forward to more.
The saber is good but the price of it not so much and if you listen really closely to the sound to the of the lightsaber they are the same ones used for the 30 to 40$ lightsabers. Overall I feel its to much and I would rather wait till they like improve with a simple hilt like the ones at dok ondars where it's just by itself
james, you should review all of the shopdisney lightsabers. i have 4 of them already and just ordered obi wan and ahsokas
These Galaxy’s Edge sabers all look a bit goofy with the extra girth. Still no idea why they can’t build them to scale. Electronics can’t be the excuse as nearly all bootleggers build them to scale and are designed to store electronics (and to use blades) as well.
It's to keep all legacy sabers universally compatible with the blades and having them sit as far as they do in the the hilt makes it sturdier.
Disney needs to figure out the thin neck sabers. i have 2 luke sabers both of them able to keep the thin neck even with the blade installed. other than that, beautiful saber

@Night-Hawk hmm I feel like mine looks pretty close to the box and like what he has here in the video. Disney released the 3 Saber box set. That comes with the episode 1 and 2 Saber. The episode 3 and obiwan series style Saber. And then a much more Grey and scratched up episode 4 version that is only available in that box set.
@@CaseyPriceForsakenhero I’ll have to look at mine. I managed to get the box set that has all 3 lightsabers. I recall the episode 3 lightsaber looking a little different then the one pictured on the box? I’ll have to look at in the light tomorrow to refresh my memory.
@Night-Hawk the middle one should look exactly like the one I got and is featured here. But the episode 4 one looks different. Me I would have preferred if I got the box set. That one of the sabers look brand new. It's kinda weird that one is weathered and the other is extra weathered.

I feel like Disney should raise their legacy lightsaber prices by $50 and add smooth swing. That goes a long way and will get way more sales.

Hello,.. quick question.. I know you visit galaxys edge offen and check on the latest merch to buy. Every time I visit Black Spire it's on a weekend.. is there a day in your experience going there you find more items in stock?
I really do like the push in and twist blades. So there won't be a problem with the blade flying out. Or dealing with retention screws. But those fat necks are SO unappealing. I'll stick to Neopixel and retention screws.
Why do I have the feeling the sound is better on this but the bs fx saber hilt will look nicer

when it comes to the neck i would rather the obi wan and luke lightsabers be packaged in a pack like these with their own blade BUT in this case have a specific blade that works with the narrow neck. I mean these things aren't cheap and i would assume most people know not to hand this to a kid and tell em to "go to town" with it. These sabers aren't the best when it comes to "battling" with them, there are others out there better made for that. If they warned customers on the packaging not to "battle" with them then problem solved, anyone who does and it breaks well thats on them.

Hello, I have a question, did you know that Galaxy's Edge is releasing the Jedi version of Dooku's lightsaber? If so, do you plan on reviewing it? Because I'm planning on buying the lightsaber and it's actually going to be my very first Legacy Lightsaber I ever OWN.
It took me a hot minute but i only just noticed the Darth momin saber hilts on your rebel pilot suit. Are they just empty hilts or any plans to do a lil reveiw on em?

The only complaint I have with the saber is one of it’s clashes… one of its clashes does a 2 clash sound affect which I really am not a fan of. It really annoys me a lot

Hello SirJames. I’m planning a trip to Disneyland with my family, and I’m looking into the different sabers.
I’m leaning towards Luke’s Legacy saber, but I understand it requires an adapter that will take away from the screen accurate appearance.
I’ve also seen videos of other Neopixel sabers, and ones that have unique ignitions.
My question to you is, if I’m looking for an accurate, top of the line saber, where do you recommend I look? I will continue watching your very informative videos.

To be true to the saber and blade, try Yue budget companies. Disney mainly makes sabers as novelties or collectibles only dude
It's just too thin. They can't make it that thin without the possibility of it breaking under pressure and they know people will try to play heavy with these

Still disappointing they haven’t ditched the thick neck for blade-in, but for the price point, its fine.
I think it’s too much money. I’d rather have a RGB w/smooth swing than disneys crap led blades with no smooth swing. No reason at this point they are still milking old tech.

It’s a legacy saber so it works like any other blade except for the Darksaber one
Did you notice if Savis is still offering Elemental Nature? I saw a recent vid where someone only had choice of the other 3 and had some parts blacked out unavailable. Must be running out the leftover stock before the new parts etc. Do you think we'll get them before Xmas?

I think worse than having the adapter is NOT even having the option of the original hilt to display! They could have just given us the adapter as is and not make it interchangeable at all. lol
If they only have the thick one literally no one would buy it. So this should be expected. Also other companies use better tech than disney sadly where theres smooth swing and you can insert the blade on obi wand and Luke’s when it’s thin.

I just received my Black Series Darth Vader Force FX Elite saber. I understand it's modeled after the Obi-Wan Kenobi series hilt which is why seeing the activation box for the first time took me by surprise because I thought it shipped unfinished (I owned a master replicas Vader hilt years ago and remember the sides of the activation box being silver and diecast, sadly it was stolen from me). Anyone else notice how cheap the black plastic parts feel on the new Vader hilt from the Force FX Elite line?
The thicker handle may not be ‘screen accurate’, however, it is more ergo dynamic for lightsaber combat. The original design is pretty poor for actual combat.

All movie lightsabers are very poor for combat, in movie, they don't count with blade weight, but in reality, you need somehow acceptable point of balance and hold it as close as it's possible to plade and your other hand put on pommel as if it was actual sword, not a toy like most of lightsabers are. Unfortunately saber cores all have very badly placed activation button, so it's hard to make ergonomy of the saber good. Also, most of saber cores are 1" in diametr which makes handle diameter like 32mm and that's too much for a smaller person or woman, it's not that bad, but smaller diameter would be more comfortable. I really wish someone finally made lightsaber where ergonomy and point of balance really makes sense, people who design that have no clue about sword fighting, how to hold and and how sword should look, when you want to fight with that, you have to think about that as it was really sword, which manufacturers don't do, they still think about that as if it was just toy or something on shelf.

I honestly don’t mind the thick neck I usually keep my sabers as display but when I do use them I can live with the inaccuracy when it has a blade in it

Ok serious question. A few of my brothers and I are going to Orlando here soon to get my first lightsaber and I'm planning on getting the RotJ luke skywalker's hilt and I'm willing to pay the full price of it but I have no idea how much the separate blade would cost. I'm desperate for answers as google isn't very helpful 😅 thanks!
Separate blades cost from $40-$50.
The 36 inch blade which is the longest one, is $49.99. I think the 31 inch blade may be $39.99. The $49.99 price
