Opinions vary.....The grandfather brought it to me to lower the horrible action. Then I pointed out the fret thing. Pitty brand new. Some people pay extra for relic work.... :)
Is that a pancake body with a maple neck??? My 71 has a pancake body and mahogany neck. I thought the pancake body disappeared when the maple necks started. Wow, ya' never know.
Because they stay in tune better. Original Gibsons from the 50-60s had a similar but slightly harder molded nut. The strings did not stick. Gibson has also started using nylon on the Historics. I have been using them for a few years now. There are a couple videos here showing how you can bend strings and return back to pitch. Plus they just do not wear. I will look back through the videos when I get the chance and direct you to them.
Try this one....ua-cam.com/video/jI__DLst3iI/v-deo.html while you are at it watch this one. It is a 5 yr old video, horrible quality but you will get the point. ua-cam.com/video/fT9EBGzW8bw/v-deo.html
@@guitarc.p.r.9675 I can't imagine it was so bad to have butchered as bad as he did. Some people... That Les Paul turned out beautiful for a 79 and almost turning into kindling!
Beautiful work as always my friend!
Thank you!
Looks like Grampa used a 3/4" flat file on the Squire.
I may have nightmares about that diy fret dress you had to fix on that Squire.
Good looking SG, looked like mine at first (2014 Gibson, walnut). Les Paul looks like a '78(?). Some interesting situations here.
Serial # says 76
The kid with the Squier Tele should have just gone to The STRATosphere and bought a new neck.

I also have a 72 in the shop currently all mahogany, 3 piece neck pancake body.
BTW why would you prefer a nylon nut for the LP?
