ANTI-STATIC brush does nothing for static but good for removing dust. Save yourself some money all you need is a spray bottle of distilled water spray it on the record use a brush or microfiber cloth to spread it around and then to wipe it dry and the static is gone.
The only thing that worked for me was the Milty zerostat gun, it's around $100, but well worth the price.
i dont get static when i clean vinyl in my ultrasonic or any clicks anymore ,best 200 bucks ive spent for my system ...
Yes! Love Hudson. Rice paper sleeves, great value. I’ve got the Style record cleaning system and I’m really interested in the Hudson cleaning are and kit. 🎉❤
Those popping sounds on your side two sounded like record damage, not static.
That’s not exactly a new record.
Yeah, it sounded more like a bad warp issue at the beginning of that record.
I agree. That's not static, it's dust and record damage. The cleaning helped with the dust but the damage is still there and probably visible if you look closely. Static is also a problem if you build up a static charge yourself with carpeting, dryness in the house etc. That's why you need to ground yourself when working on computers etc. And yes, the anti-static brush does nothing for static but is good for cleaning.
Best way is to clean the record, use a rubber mat, a poly lined inner sleeve, and Magic Eraser to clean the stylus after every side. Beyond this enters into the realm of extreme OCD and voodoo rituals. If this doesn’t work? You just live with it: I have dust brushes built into my Stanton and (2) Shure 97xe’s. They are not a panacea.
The Hudson anti static brush arm thing actually added static for me. Tried multiple ways, checked continuity etc. Really wanted it to work. To check static see how the record attracts a piece of toilet paper hung. The Milty zerostat gun works. But any brushing of the record adds static.
I knew someone years ago who would 'clean ' vinyl records by rubbing them on the living room carpet!!, can you do a video on what happens when you 'clean ' records on carpeting !? Thanks 😊
I bought the Hudson tone anti-static arm brush and it did NOT help with static. At all.
Den mitlaufenden Antistatik-Plattenbesen habe ich und kann ihn sehr empfehlen!
How about a person in front of a turn on on the side
The liquid bottle with Stylus cleanig, i don't reccommend that, etiher does Ortofon, you know, they're glueing the tip on the couterlever, liquid may loosen up that glue and the tip may fall off, so from Ortofon: never ever use liquid on a stylus, you may use that spunge to dip the needle in that's allright cleaning method on a stylus. The rest of the video it's allright, i clean my records with spin clean (it's a manual washer maschine from project) it works just fine on light dust, but if the records need deep clean, you've to use an ultrasonic maschine:))
Back in the 1980's the device to use was the ZERO STAT on records.........for Anti Static!
Hi from sunny Brighton, England. Great video. I use a mix of 1% Isopropyl Alcohol and 90% distilled water in a small spray bottle. I spray a record each time I play it and wipe it over with a velvet block. This works for me, but I'm gonna also get an anti static brush from Hudson Hi Fi and one of those gel stylus cleaners. I already have a platter mat from Hudson and love it.
The anti-static tone arm won't fit on my Fluance RT-85 with the dust cover closed. kind of defeats the cleaning purpose if dust gets re-deposited.
Question : i have a few records that play 2 times one the normal time and the second is a little behind and a quieter sound and also its only the lyrics, i have a victrola suitcase player.
I use the spin clean record washer I clean my records
Hi
I always wondered what would happen if you used pledge spray its supposed to repell dust isn't that anti-static? Just a thought.
No, no, no! The wax from Pledge will build-up in the grooves and accumulate on your stylus. Don't even think about doing something like this.
