At 6:01 this is true, however if you have already been impaled by the bomb lance projectile you can not save yourself by entering a choke bomb. Once it is in a player it will always detonate 100% of the time
I've heard that if an explosive hits something before hitting the choke cloud it will still go off, same for throwing things into water if it hits something else before the water it will still detonate

Regarding the killing immolators with a bomblance without taking fire damage: it has nothing to do with the range. Currently, if you oneshot an immolator with melee, you will not take fire damage, even though the explosion animation plays (presumably this is a bug). You can confirm this by killing an immolator with a world or combat axe, as long as you hit its head, you will not take any damage, regardless of how much in your face he was.
This is accurate as seen on 2 different streams on twitch (that i wont mention here for the sake of not advertising other content creators) They killed immolators with both bomb lance and axe. Would be cool to do a series of videos on the weird jump locations. Spots where you can hop on fences and get to odd peak angles in each compound. Since Hunt has full air control, you can really do some crazy stuff. Like at darrow, you can hop (not vault) on the broke fence above the hole in the ground then jump onto the fence and run north so you save a ton of time. I killed a guy one time doing that. You can also hop and crouch midair on to window sills and immediately turn and shot someone hiding beside the window. if you vault you have like 2 seconds of locked animation time.
Pro Gamer tip, there are some trees that are half fallen over, braced by another tree. You can sprint jump all the way up to where the two trees meet, and get some nasty angles. Examples are right outside pitching towards Healing, near the path that leads down to the water, and right across the river from Alice
For the water crossing you need to jump twice. The first bit of distance doesn't matter as much as the second hop. It prevents you from being slowed down for usually half the rivers distance, also making you a more difficult target.
Not sure, if you did the deep water jumping test correct. Isn't the trick, to jump right at the point, when the slow caused by deep water would start, when traversing a river or so? Hence the second test, I figured in the first one the water was not deep enough to make a big difference. I'll probably still jump TBH, it's just habit now and if id doesn't slow you down, it at least makes you a harder target for a split second.
my friend and I were tackling the assassin and we set off two oil lines in his area. He just kept staying in bug form doing circles from one fire to the next until he died.
The key with the jump in the water is to do a second jump timed well as you hit the water, to keep your momentum going. Only those 2 jumps though, by the third you have lost any meaningful momentum. I do believe its actually faster in water where you get the deepwater slowdown animation specifically. My team doesnt jump and I regularly catch up with someone 10-15 feet ahead of me when I double jump into the water, getting to the other side at the same time as them. I could be mistaken, but definitely feels repeatable in my case.
I have some suggestions that have been bugging me. I remember hearing thag decoys can do all sorts of things from clearing traps to opening doors and even killing mobs but it just doesn’t seem to work for me. On the topic of opening doors without actually opening them, what are some of the ways to consistently open them? I had some success opening them with dynamite but it doesn’t always work. I saw people melee doors to open them before as well. That would be good to know. I also heard that there’s a silent way to take out a meathead, and also the butcher, using melee weapons, specifically the dusters. Is this true or should I stick to using bomblances and stick grenades? I noticed a lot of people do a strange motion while reviving someone or healing themselves. Does this increase the speed of revival and healing? There’s a strange glitch with throwing knives and hitboxes, probably because the hitboxes are at fault. Sometimes when I throw a knife right at the scalp of a grunt it misses, and throwing them at players also sometimes misses them conpletely even if it looks like it should have hit. Is it lag, or are they that bad? I wonder what would happen if someone threw dynamite or a frag first, and then once on the floor someone deployed a choke grenade, would it stop it from going off? I also heard that a waxed stick of dynamite can lift hunters’ bodies up from below water so you can burn them with the liquid fire bomb. I know that’s a lot but Hunt is such an interesting game there’s always something new to find about it
I heard that shooting a hivebomb thrown in water sets them off. Also that it will actually spawn multiple hive swarms if you shoot it with a shotgun. Like each pellet that hits the bomb counts to breaking it, creating a swarm.
I think jumping before a deep part for smaller/average sized rivers is faster than moving thorough since you remove a harsher the slow down effect for a mild one.
I would be interested in seeing the water crossing experiment repeated where you aren't falling into the water from a ledge. If you notice, by walking into the water off the walkway you don't appear to hit the water until 0.8 seconds versus 1.2 seconds with the jump.
I never did serious testing for the whole running thing but I noticed you don’t fully regain your stamina when the lung icon disappears. I wait about 3-4 seconds before sprinting again to fully regen and 2 if I have determination
Hey, thanks for these videos. I got one myth to be tested: Today I saw Hinksmon (PS4 Hunt creator) to play with two single Uppercuts. He was able to get pretty high rate of fire by swapping the pistols instead of cocking those guns. He even got multiple shots off, as the gun automatically cocks during the switch. Is this possible with all revolvers? Probably Uppercut/Pax are only ones worth doing this with for fast close-mid range shots. Fannig takes care of the super close range.
This was a reasonably decent loadout prior to 1.4.8, however since then the speed on swapping weapons after a shot has been reduced, and pistols also gain high sway after switching, but yes, this works with any single action revolver combination. Unfortunately these days it's pretty much outclassed by a nagant carbine on winfield.
Hey Ascendance. I am looking to publish a guide that does a bit of a "deep dive" into some of the lesser known game mechanics such as what you discuss here. More of the numbers and nuanced things. Would you mind if I use some of the information in your videos with reference?
4:50 - unmm, no, you don't have to do any of that shit. Just hit him in a head with the arc, and he dies instantly, playing explosion animation but without actual damage. And you can stand as close as you want, as long as you hit the head. I do that all the time.
You can kill an immolator with only an axe without taking damage. If you're having trouble getting it to work, I do this: aim for the head and jump backwards during the swing.
@4FS Gaming , could you please do a 'close look at iron sights' a comparison of different sights/scopes etc of correct placement for headshots.... eg. Do you aim level with the bar or have it appear like a matchstick poking up above horizontal bar as you aim etc. Many Thanks.
Myth #7 is working as intended, but there is a bug that sometimes allows people to detonate barrels so long as they are in the chokebomb cloud with the barrel. This bug has happened to me a couple of times.
Heres somethin you can add to choke bombs, Evidently on the store page it says that Waxed Dynamite sticks can still fuse and blow up even within a choke bomb smoke. Ive never seen any1 actually use the wax against the choke bomb
@@4FSGaming for real? The range is the same as normal knife and you stab faster with it. Can’t remember how many hunters I killed with knuckle knife. It absolutely doesn’t put you in an inferior position when fighting a hunter with knife. 2000+ hours 9000+kill with 3+ KD, I’m not the best but there is definitely some credibility in my words.
Can you check to see if any of the skins have a different hitbox? I feel like with The Researcher or Mountain Man there seems to be more to their model.
Psst.. If you jump twice in the water ("bhop") - the advantage gets much more substantive. So much so that you will catch up your teammates about 3-5 lengths/widths of a hunter ;)
9:44 Objection! I have believed for a long time that if you have the fanning trait if you fire while aiming down sights then stop aiming down sights the much shorter fanning hammering animation will have your weapon ready to shoot faster. You than aim back down sights and it feels faster than waiting for the aim down sight hammering animation to finish.
I want to know the difference of waiting for stamina when you are using Determination and Greyhound/only 1 of them each. I have a feeling the difference will be much bigger and you are going to be extremely fast waiting compared to not.
If there are holes in the walls, even small ones then damage can get through, and most wooden walls have these cracks. Frags will cause bleed through cover, but not really damage.
For the water one, you have to jump right before the slowdown happens, not right before the water. Then you can clear the water by 2 meters before the slow begins, Also you need to b-hop immediately when you land giving you another 1-2 meters. You can probably lead 3-4 meters compared to walking straight into water.
@@4FSGaming The second test the non-jumping and the jumping one hit the water in the same location (so no real advantage here). The the jump is suppose to go further since you do not get slowed down in the air (for the first jump). The first test isn't valid because you jumped before you hit the water instead of before the slow down. You need to jump before the slow hits (before reaching knee deep as opposed to ankle deep). If you look in the first test you can clearly see your bottom character not slowing down even though he touched the water. He walked ~1.5m before slowing down. For this instance the jump should take place 1.4m (or whatever the actual distance is) into the water which will prevent slowing. Also Hunt also has a delay for when the slow down registers, so you can bunny hop the first land and travel a few steps before slowing down.
I'll have another play around with it, but I'm pretty confident the second test demonstrated that the time difference is negligible. Thanks for your observations!
idk if people still ask questions about hunt, but id like to know if meele kills with guns lvl. them up too and if guns you don't have unlocked yet still get progression?
I kill immolators with the bomblance al the time, you just need to hit their heads with it, you can be close to them and kill them without taking any damage. Did it plenty of times, try it.
Myth 2: in short water areas i do a little bunnyhop, often not being slowed down at all (if i dont f it up) Is this just placebo and short water areas dont slow you down? (im new and dont know)
Have any tips for us Low skill guys that always end up in matches against 7+ KDA opponents? We cant get better when we just instantly die from out of the blue every match.
Don't be afraid to use your knife when appropriate. If you're fanning at close range slow it down a little and aim your shots. Try to pincer and flank whenever possible. Use your explosives, they can swing a fight completely. Keep your headphone volume high to listen out for footsteps. Train your aim, sometimes before a match I just go into the training mode and move around the map as fast as possible and only allow myself kills with headshots. Teaches you to get your sights on heads quickly and accurately. Lastly don't be discouraged, you'll get better. A lot of the skills in this game are hard to pick up fast, knowing when to push or retreat, when to heal vs push your advantage etc. You'll get there my friend :-)

Can you test this. I have tried testing it but maybe you can figure out better ways of testing. The flash bomb. There seems to be a staggered effect.. also I have heard throwing it and turning away stops the flash. I think think this has worked. Perhaps you can confirm this. And also at what ranges the intensities differ, with and without looking away. Also hahah ..are all objects equal in stopping the flash?
Awesome video, but I'm not completely convinced the jumping into the water trick isn't faster. The whole point is obviously to delay the speed debuff you get when you hit the water. In your video it looked like you had gator legs, which means for you, there wasn't any speed debuff to delay.
Can you test this : Downed people burn out instantly if they left the game (session they are in). I noticed that sometimes people burn out instantly (even when they never got killed before and it took me 2 long ammo shots to kill them), so I assumed that when they burn out instantly : it means that they are no longer in the server and left the game.
@@NickHunter As i said, I have seen this happen on people who died from 2 torso shots, which tells me that they have some chunks left. Today for example, I killed a guy with Lebel + Uppercut, 2 shots to torso. We decided to burn him after searching for his missing teammates, and he just instantly stopped burning. My theory is that : body stops burning when player leaves the game session (or server/lobby). And if body keeps burning : it means that player is still in game session with you.
dusters are still better than the knife as an over all utility tool. but i use the bomblance pretty much every game now so i doesn't matter much lol. you can also use a trick with the bomb lance to destroy the butchers project tile somewhat consistently.
It's not maybe a myth but more like a bug.the other day i was hiding in a toilet and i had equiped a springfield 1866 marksman and i noticed i could see clearly the open field which was behind me through the reflection of the scope(not scoping just sitting still) while i was inside with door closed and a fence behind.
Myth #2 baffled me. I always jump into the water and once in the water, my brother never does and whenever I am behind him when we reach water, I can see myself closing some distance. What is going on?!
For myth 2 i did that normally to make noise for a shorter amount of time with the water and didnt even tthink about the speed cause water running is way louder than normal running Both r still super loud tho
You did the water test incorrectly. You're supposed to jump just as you're about to enter deepwater to avoid the movement penalty and it is much faster if you do it that way. As for the bomblance test, the regular attack has the longest range by far but the heavy attack is beaten by the basic knife heavy attack. Speaking of the basic knife, I'd love to see you test the heavy attack for it. It seems that while your knife is extended after the heavy attack you can swing your character around and still do full damage with the tip of the blade. You have to be very quick to hit something before your character pulls his arm back of course. Would be nice to see if someone else can pull it off.
In the second jump test I did so off a boardwalk straight into deep water, which in theory would provide the biggest advantage for the jump. The bomblance arc is really odd, the right side of the swing has massive range, but not so much the left. Melee stuff definitely needs a whole lot more testing!
@@4FSGaming When you jump your character doesn't move any faster forward. So jumping straight off of the boardwalk into deep water won't change anything. But if you jump to avoid deep water then you won't be slowed. Hence why the trick only works on the small rivers and not the lakes. Also yes, melee is incredibly strange either due to how the engine works or how hit boxes are coded. Hell you can even see in your bomblance test that you don't even hit the immolator and it still dies.
Jumping cross water is definitely faster and your test did not convinced me. Many times I got quicker through the water by doing this than teammates who just run into. Also when I see people jumping but doing this too early they do not get any cons from that, you need to be in the water but jump at the moment when you are still in the shallow water just before stepping into deep water. Many times I line up with teammates when I was behind them but did water jump better and we left water at the same time.
I tested it twice as shown, first time jumping from a bank, second time from a boardwalk straight into deep water. I can't detect any speed advantage. If you can test it and find that it is faster, I'd love to take a look!
I jump before crossing water because it takes a little longer for Water Devils to agro than if I just charged straight in.

I know that’s a lot but Hunt is such an interesting game there’s always something new to find about it
videos like this is why i love you
I heard that shooting a hivebomb thrown in water sets them off. Also that it will actually spawn multiple hive swarms if you shoot it with a shotgun. Like each pellet that hits the bomb counts to breaking it, creating a swarm.
For your hive fact, I will say, you will often fight bees when you have your knife out clearing a compound so it’s good to use both
For the water jumping one, u could of taken another 3 steps before jumping.
Is there a way to destroy the lamp above dogs and chickens without killing the animals
Wow I feel like an idiot for always jumping before crossing water😂 Great video as always dude! Keep up the amazing work!
I never did serious testing for the whole running thing but I noticed you don’t fully regain your stamina when the lung icon disappears. I wait about 3-4 seconds before sprinting again to fully regen and 2 if I have determination
Yeah that's the case, I wait four seconds before resuming sprint.
Actually the Nagant precision has three slot rifle butt damage on a two slot frame so it should perform similarly on the hive swarm. Good vid btw.
Hey, thanks for these videos. I got one myth to be tested:
Today I saw Hinksmon (PS4 Hunt creator) to play with two single Uppercuts.
Go for it!
good shit, but for the fanning one what if you un-ads to cock it with your hand, is that faster for a follow-up shot (hip fire or aimed) ?
You are locked into the ADS view until the recoil finishes, so it doesn't make it any faster I believe.
only the other way around to secure the second shot
1.hip + 2.aimed
@@4FSGaming got another one, do melee attacks give you weapon exp (like with the romero hatchet)?
@@FlavorTown9088 yes. iv leveled guns by only using melee before.
@@robertharris6092 thanks!
4:50 - unmm, no, you don't have to do any of that shit. Just hit him in a head with the arc, and he dies instantly, playing explosion animation but without actual damage. And you can stand as close as you want, as long as you hit the head. I do that all the time.
it looked fishy from the get-go, seeing him try it only once and in a very scared-off manner ^^ Thx for clarifying!
@@Fischly007 You're welcome. I did it today in one of my matches and it works like a clock. Again - YOU NEED TO HIT THE HEAD.
8:30 the knuckle knife is better in every way except for fighting hellhounds
Not for PvP unfortunately, which is arguably the most critical role of a melee tool when it comes down to the line.
What a beautiful game.. So underrated..
You can actualy kill a immolator with a normal axe and for some reeason you dont take any dmg at all (with the heavy attack that is)
Can you check to see if any of the skins have a different hitbox? I feel like with The Researcher or Mountain Man there seems to be more to their model.
Great video! I was asking myself, what happens when you throw a waxed dynamite into a choke bomb next to a barrel?
And does it help to wiggle the mouse while reviving to avoid a headshot?
Love this series good work mate
Can you test if dead hunter feet point in direction of killer, saw it from reddit
Big if true.
awesome videos. question and i know this is almost a year old but what about a bomb lance shooting a barrel in a choke?
The immolator myth, I just stand there with the bomb Lance charge attack aiming for the head and I'm perfectly fine without any repercussions.
Can you test if jumping sideways over a low fence (getting rid of the crossing animation) gets you there faster?
Psst.. If you jump twice in the water ("bhop") - the advantage gets much more substantive. So much so that you will catch up your teammates about 3-5 lengths/widths of a hunter ;)
Myth: using the concertina trip mine and a poisonous barrel you can set both of at once! Similar to alert mine and red barrel
Can you pick up an extinguished throwable after using dauntless?
Another chokebomb perk is it will stop alert tripmines from going off when you trigger them.
Good shit man , keep it up
myth #1 gets boosted by determination and greyhound.
Does determination help regen sprint stamina also? I thought it was only melee
@@NickHunter oh you are right. But still, with greyhound you sprint for even longer after walking to replenish stamina
I want to know the difference of waiting for stamina when you are using Determination and Greyhound/only 1 of them each. I have a feeling the difference will be much bigger and you are going to be extremely fast waiting compared to not.
Thank you for the fantastic videos! How about this: Do frag grenades and dynamites deal damage through wooden walls?
If there are holes in the walls, even small ones then damage can get through, and most wooden walls have these cracks. Frags will cause bleed through cover, but not really damage.
For the water one, you have to jump right before the slowdown happens, not right before the water.
Then you can clear the water by 2 meters before the slow begins, Also you need to b-hop immediately when you land giving you another 1-2 meters.
You can probably lead 3-4 meters compared to walking straight into water.
Hence the second test, that's a jump straight from a boardwalk into deep water, which should produce the maximum effect.
@@4FSGaming
The second test the non-jumping and the jumping one hit the water in the same location (so no real advantage here).
Great work!
for Myth #2 I make it to make not so many watter nois.
I kill immolators with the bomblance al the time, you just need to hit their heads with it, you can be close to them and kill them without taking any damage. Did it plenty of times, try it.
I've got a new one to test with the choke bomb. Does the choke bomb block or remove the fire from the new incendiary ammo?
Myth 2: in short water areas i do a little bunnyhop, often not being slowed down at all (if i dont f it up)
Is this just placebo and short water areas dont slow you down? (im new and dont know)
Have any tips for us Low skill guys that always end up in matches against 7+ KDA opponents?
We cant get better when we just instantly die from out of the blue every match.
Move a lot, take shots frequently, rotate around cover and never peek the same angle twice in a row.
@@NickHunter True and once you'll master all of these things, it's gonna be the best game ever and be so addicting! 1000H here already ;)
Overall... Just be as less predictable as possible!
Practice in quickplay so you can go nuts on practicing mechanics without worrying about money when you die. If you're not comfortable aiming the guns yet, shoot every zombie you see until you are.
Do some matches run around like mad man practice headshots with weapon of your choice there all good I'm at 4k kills I still play few games running around like mad man practice
Do you know for a fact they hadn't been downed and revived previously?
@@NickHunter As i said, I have seen this happen on people who died from 2 torso shots, which tells me that they have some chunks left.
Today for example, I killed a guy with Lebel + Uppercut, 2 shots to torso. We decided to burn him after searching for his missing teammates, and he just instantly stopped burning.
My theory is that : body stops burning when player leaves the game session (or server/lobby). And if body keeps burning : it means that player is still in game session with you.
@@qzzqz4963 Ah sorry, didn't think about that part and you said it to make the point lol. My head's up my ass!
Stab hive in face with Hard stab must be faster?
Why didn't you test the bomblance vs the mosin bayonette???
dusters are still better than the knife as an over all utility tool. but i use the bomblance pretty much every game now so i doesn't matter much lol. you can also use a trick with the bomb lance to destroy the butchers project tile somewhat consistently.
Did your hunter got gator legs, while testing jumping or not jumping the water?
Hunters had no perks for any tests, unless specifically stated.
i wonder if in the fanning test if the specific weapons have any varations in ROF
Does shoulder aim make you slower than having your gun down???
Great vid, as always!
Myth #2 baffled me. I always jump into the water and once in the water, my brother never does and whenever I am behind him when we reach water, I can see myself closing some distance. What is going on?!
thank you for the info. now we need a vid on the best ways to kill bomb lance users ;)
I asked myself that many times, until I used a shotgun lol
Tip #1: Shoot them
Great content. Well done ^^
Choke bomb doesn't stop flares, but it stops the explosive crossbow bolts? Why tho
For myth 2 i did that normally to make noise for a shorter amount of time with the water and didnt even tthink about the speed cause water running is way louder than normal running
Both r still super loud tho
It would make a tangible sound difference with lightfoot
i love the bgm.
I love these videos
Yoo what's that skin at 8:15, never seen anything like it before...
It's the phantom.
For the melee attacks against the hive swarm, isn't a bomb lance heavy faster?
I'm sure it is, but I'm wanting to discover what is the best "go-to" method, almost every loadout has a knife/large slot gun.
Can you survive a throw from a blunt weapon with hornskin
Does anyone know if a choke bomb can stop the burning effect caused by immolators or firebombs?
Can you explode a barrel in a choke bomb when throwing a waxed dynamite stick in it?
the frag explodes in the gas too
For the first one, your controller also vibrates a bit on console!
Myth #13 - If Crytek nerf QS,players with 0.5 kd will start destroying
It doesn’t matter how far away the immolator is with the bomb lance you won’t take fire damage at all... unless the immolator is on fire
Not true, i lost a health bar doing this
@@silviomx6553 hmmm, idk it must just be my terrible wifi lol to where I can just dodge it without taking damage lol
