Well sacrificing their own life is quite easy for heroes. It’s only losing others that would break them and inflict pain/suffering. Either way, both have suffered more than anyone deserves. But I feel that pain and suffering doesn’t depend on what the level of they experience because different scenarios affect them each at different levels.
Flash is the literal definition of “being powerless even when you have the power to change anything.” Like he can literally be a god, run back in time and prevent his loved ones from dying, but it comes with a heavy price… Grant Gustin was one hell of an actor. I hope he’s chosen again to be the new Flash actor in James Gunn’s DCU reboot. If Grant is gonna be the Flash, then it’s gonna be incomplete without a Tom Cavanagh’s Reverse Flash and Wells…
Like Batman's story isn't that sad, like his parents died... That's it, but Barry got his whole childhood ruined from Thawne, and his Dad got falsely accused, Barry went back in time to save his mother but decided not to, then Zoom killed his Dad after he got out of jail, Savitar killed HR, then if we skip over into Season 6 Barry sees a million timelines where everyone he has ever loved dies, and there's probably more that I'm not remembering
If Oliver knew everything he knew that Caitlin wasn't really dead but just wanted in control so he just let Barry spend months suffering and mourning Caitlin's death for nothing.
Which makes it that most impressive when you learn that he is the heart of DC, the paragon of love in his CWverse, and the person who keeps the Justice League together.
I wish Ralph had come back in the last episode to help Barry one last time. He didn't fully die because he came back and went out to explore the world with Sue. But it would make the fans of Flash happy to see the one guy who saved barry's life multiple times (Ralph)

Barry is basically just like Spider-Man in the way he suffers. Their lives have tons of terrible timelines and events. Every Flash/Spider-man, all the variations of them all suffered heavily to be the hero they are today

He was suffering all time, iris die in future, his mother dies, his dad dies, losses his friend cisco, lost all wells, lost green arrow, caitlin and frost died and more, he deserved his family
this is the reason most people with powers turn evil or bad because they can do everything in there power to save there family but hero's always gain pain and suffering because they try to do good and they succeed most of the time but loose the most in other ways
