This performance has single-handedly (to be honest, I did see the original R. L. Burnside - Live 1984 before this one) brought me out of a productive slump. What I owe you is priceless. So I'll abstain from anythin but the simplest, and hopefuly deepest, possible: Thank You!
By anyone's standards, that was a guitar clinic. Luther Dickinson is an incredible talent, and the least of it being his time with the Robinson brothers. They neither appreciated him, nor deserved him.
Agreed, he's awesome. Even his time in the crowes his talent stood out. He gave them a different edge and the way that band was developing with him was a pleasure to listen to. Easily rivalled the call and response guitar style of Ford and Robinson. Can't wait to see what he does next.
I saw him with Chris at Wakarusa, and I realized, he’s a world class guitar player. I’d been watching him around Memphis since he was about 18 or 19. He made it.
@Ken Bar. Amen on Luther with the Robinson's. They couldn't let him sing one or the band couldn't cover an NMAS song? I read somewhere he turned down an invite back. Not surprised. Last NMAS show was last year and it was three hours with no set break for like $30.
Has anyone got a cover of North Mississippi All-Stars covering Higher Ground? I heard it about 15 years ago on NPR Saturday blues and can’t find it anywhere....
It don’t get no better than this
Such a grooving song. Band is tight as hell! Hill Country Baby
that hill country blues style. it's mesmerizing

Sometimes you can catch Cody looking at Luther with this “dats my big bruh” grin on his face. Can’t blame him, and Cody’s no slouch himself.
