This is one of the few times I have left comments on a video and I must say this is one of the best videos for people looking to really break into the profession. Well done!
Black Hills Information Security for those not coming from a tech background looking to expand their networking skills. Is it worth pursuing the Cisco CCNA?
Certs def have value (though they're not all that and a bag of chips) and the CCNA has value, but it's very specific to Cisco networking, and unless you're specifically going into that it might not be the best broad overview. Just depends what the goal is :)
Howdy there man! I'm a college student going into my second year, and I can't even begin to describe how helpful this was. Like you mentioned early on I'm still looking for that environment where I can grow, but this was a great resource to help guide me on the right path.
In school right now at a tech college for cybersec. By minute 15 I’ve gotten so much validation in what I’ve already learned and the path I am on. Discussing labbing, which I argue is the best method for learning well. Stuff like packet tracer, how to set up dhcp servers, domain controllers etc. this is a great resource you guys have here! Thanks from the south !
The best video I've seen on this subject. I'm a Blue Team guy and love it. I get asked alot when I'm going to work Red Teams? I have but just enjoy Blue so much more.

What makes powershell tougher to pick up than bash? powershell is fun pick up and script with-- its like programming with hand grenades instead of sniper rifles. its relatively slow but its super powerful and semantically intuitive. had a blast learning powershell This video inspired me to hunker down and learn bash (among other things) more thoroughly. I remember seeing commands like 'du' and 'nistbladmti' and like 'crontab' and began to appreciate what an entirely different beast that Unix is, lol. Time to get proficient.
Great video and clear blueprint. I found good references for most of the Year One core concepts, but could use some recommendations on the Windows portion. Any books or forums that folks would advise on?
CISSP has been a career booster for me (although what does it mean really?) - the SANS GWAPT was a refreshing change in the typical multiple choice crap. I could bring the material we were given in the class to the exam but the time was running out! I had to make an index to quickly refer to areas of particular books. I nearly ran out of time even with the index, to be honest.
I actually found out today that you can add a UA-cam Channel to Podcast Addicts as an RSS feed. Sadly cant download the podcasts for offline viewing :(. I do a lot of my podcast listening in the subway/train.
If im looking to come into this field from a non tech/no IT background, can i still follow this path? And then at some point get the certs needed to get past HR?
Yes, also, highly recommended you watch the follow up video here -> ua-cam.com/video/iB_xCLsgQZI/v-deo.html It's updated and probably answers other questions you might have!
Why do you consider certifications to be so bad beyond for getting passed HR? What certifications do you believe actually have vlue beyond getting passed HR? Could you elaborate or direct to a video where you ranted about this?

As an Augusta native, I find it highly entertaining that you mentioned it so many times.
:)
Still amazing advice to follow in 2020 and for many years to come.

That's great, we need passionate people on both sides of the game!
Why do you like blue more than red?
