    WOW!!! you have educated me so much. Retired now, needing something to do. Doing the ship and boat I served on. Also my buddy's grandfather's ship, the Iowa BB-61. It's the one that needs a diorama. I walked her teak deck in Philly in 1981, as our ship was in the yards. Also the Des Moines, and the Intrepid. Got chills. Thanks for the tutorial brother. Carry on.

    Very interesting how you do water. I tried it a few times using this thick liquid I got from a store that sells rail road trains stuff. The tin foil is a great idea. Did you ever try using cotton balls with Elmer’s glue to shape the waves? I’m working on a 1/350 scale destroyer IJN. The tiny little brass acid etch parts are really making me blind. But the model is really looking sweet. And your great idea to make it look like water has inspired me to try this out when I get done with my model ship.

    While doing this I found out that you could use a Mixture of glue and water and cotton o make the wake of the water just do the same Procedure mix PVA glue with a little bit of water then press or dab the cotton on to the layout Basically just do the same thing with glue water mixture and cotton then you could skip the step of re painting some of the toilet tissue just ask me if you have Any questions

    nice !....i built a 1:700 destroyer , i wont ever again, but i tried to encapsulate with epoxy resin, it didnt turn out well, i forgot to adhere the ship to its base and it floated up when i poured the epoxy in the mold, when the build dried there was bubbles all over, couldnt barely see the ship, but this was my first attempt ever, i wanted to get into modeling but i wanted the ship to be fully submerged so noboy could break off a gun, or a mast or a flag or a signal lamp, or whatever could break, people touch things, especially kids, but its in and set, i wish i could remove the ship and try another pour, but alex great tutorial and beautiful work, very talented, thank you

  • @fingerfeller

    let me ask you a question and get your opinion if you can help.. if you wanted to fully submerge a 1:700 or a 1:350 ship on a small diorama ocean with a mast and flags how would you do it ? my failure is a 1:700 destroyer with masts and wires and flags, it is 10 inches long, 3 inches wide and 3 inches tall, i changed my mind and will do another 1:700 , would you do the pour in layers or one large pour ? my fail did really harden fast so i just need to work on bubbles , the mold i used made a crystal clear square block with the ship inside on a small blue diorama with waves created with putty and paint, i did this project days before i saw your projects, any assistance would be appreciated from the viewers as well

    Great well done video and the basis for my seascapes now. Just one question why go to all the trouble of painting the waves near the ship and wake and then cover them with tissue paper and paintover that. Once the tissue paper goes down everything is covered up ?

  • @N2NDF
    @N2NDF 4 роки тому +1

    Very nice! But in my research I’ve found that now waves from large ships are in a arching pattern at there terminus. Due to the ship traveling faster than the wave and the ships displacement.
    Again very nice!!

    • @fingerfeller
      @fingerfeller 3 роки тому +1

      he did say the ocean and waves were done in your perspective so arching them is your interpretation , i also notice arches in wakes from large ships , then they come back to the ships stern as a side arch or half moon shape, both sides,
