    I have a similar system except it's a 3.6kW Hybrid inverter & same 9.5kWh batteries x 2. 10 x 420w panels ESE & 5 x 430w panels NW. Zappi & an Eddi too. Don't use the Eddi much now because of my new tariff.
After switching to Octopus Intel Go I totally changed my strategy of trying to use as much generation as possible. Now, I charge the batteries every night irrespective of the next day weather. I also charge the EV & run any appliances overnight at 7.5p/kWh. Come sun up the batteries are pretty full so, after a short top up from solar, I'm exporting any & all of my solar, excluding any house load, for for the rest of the day @15p/kWh. For me May was the 1st negative bill month of the year & June will be the same through to probably late October. After that we will rely on the batteries for daytime power. I still have a gas boiler which is only 5 years old so not worth me replacing yet with Air to Air or A2W heat pumps. I have an A2A system in our conservatory for cooling & heating. Mostly used for winter heating.
I have also had a few issues with my GE batteries. BMS over temperature warnings & State of Charge reading errors. GE did a remote slow calibration which seems to have settled it down but I still get the odd BMS over temp error come up now & then.
The GE Community Forum is a good place to get information & ask questions but I guess you already know this.
My only regret - not getting a larger capacity inverter. My 3.6kW Hybrid can easily be swamped if too many appliances are running at the same time forcing extra power to be used from the grid during the daytime. I'm still trying to educate my wife that having the washing machine, dishwasher, iron & kettle on all at the same time is not good.
Hope you get your batteries sorted.

Thanks for sharing your setup and usage also.
GivEnergy already did a remote slow calibration, which helped for a couple of days, but then back to the issue, so I am hoping it gets sorted with the next visit.
I agree regarding the 3.6 kW limit of the inverter, but as I have the Tesla Powerwall 2 as well that can also discharge at 5kW its not so much of an issue.
Regarding the wife educating :) Been there, we have an old iPad on the wall that displays the solar info, so I tell her if there is solar fill your boots, if not only 1 thing at a time :D

    Thanks for the update.
We're just about to have 3.8kWp of solar installed. Once I get me smart meter installed (I'm currently on an old wheel meter), I'll be trying to export as much as possible.
Eon are currently paying 16.5 Pence per unit on export, but charging 6.9 Pence per unit for 7 hours cheap rate. So it's better to send the excess energy to the grid at 16.5p per unit, and heat the hot water at night for 6.9p per unit.
Until the new meter goes in, I'm expecting to see a huge reduction in units recorded by my old meter, as it'll be counting backwards when the panels are producing.
Charging the car will mean I'll not submit a negative meter reading, even through the rest of this summer.

I have the debate with export vs consume with myself often.
I am happy to export, but I am also somewhat conscious of the number of cycles a battery can do (regardless of warranty).
Those rates from EON are great though.

Hi, im in the process of having panels and a 10kw battery installed. Im leaning towards the Jinko Tiger Neo N type panels, is that what youve got and are they a good panel? Also do you think 7kw invertor is too big for a 7kw panel array? I cant seem to get a straight forward answer :)

      @SpectrumGeeks  9 днів тому +1

The Jinko Tiger Neo N Type panels are what I have and they seem to perform really well so far, and when I researched them had good performance stats and longevity.
Regarding the 7kW inverter and the same sized array, it can depend a little bit on the brand of inverter you are using, if there are any optimisers, any micro inverters, etc. It also depends on the direction of your roof and how often you can fully maximise the solar generation fully.
Hopefully your installer could do you a generation estimate with the same array and a 5 and 7 kW inverter and then you can see the difference and worth the cost.

Hi Dale I hope you get the issues sorted with the battery. I was wondering if you have started to get your export MPAN and if so what was or is the time frame octopus energy gave you ? . Also I was wondering how the ev mower if I can call it that is going any issues? Cheers

When I made the EXPORT request with Octopus they said it may take 6 - 7 weeks, however I made my application on the 5th June and was all sorted to be paid to export by the 13th June. I am not sure if it happened faster as I was already in touch with Octopus about some billing issues, but for me it was a pretty smooth process.
The ATCO electric mower is still working really well. I use it to cut the grass obviously, as well as tow things around to make my life easier, its a little work horse.
Only change I have made is buy a faster charger, but this was only because I had the original one stolen, so was an opportunity to pay abit more for the faster charging capability.
