- Resolution to Protect Imam Dr. Taliat Yunus Ayilara from Harassment and Intimidation*
WHEREAS, Imam Sheikh Taliat Yunus Ayilara PhD is a respected spiritual leader and grand chief Imam of Ogbomosoland and the chairman of all chief Imams of Ogbomosoland, Oyo State of Nigeria.
WHEREAS, the grand chief Imam of Ogbomosoland has been subjected to harassment and intimidation by HRM Oba Pastor Ghandi Olaoye Orumogege, Soun of Ogbomosoland and a section of disgruntled and polytheistic Alfas in Ogbomoso who in collaboration with a section of Ayilara family members who lost out in their bid for the Imamship. These harassment, blackmail, intimidation and cyberbully are unacceptable and contrary to laws, our values of respect, inclusivity, and compassion;
BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Muslim Peace Initiative join thousands of all Muslim Organizations particularly MURIC to condemn all forms of harassment and intimidation against Imam Taliat Yunus Ayilara and demand that the aggressors cease and desist from further acts of threats to his life, intimidation and harassment forthwith.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we commit to creating a safe and conducive for the grand chief Imam Ogbomosoland and all his supporters free from fear, intimidation, and harassment.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we support the grand chief Imam in his spiritual awakening , mentorship of the young generation, purposeful leadership and appreciate his intellectual contributions to the Muslim community in Ogbomoso and throughout the whole world.
WE HEREBY DECLARE that in as much as light and darkness cannot stay together, any Oba who practices or condones Isese has no moral right or authority to appoint or discipline an Imam because one of the missions of Imam is to warn against idolatry which the Oba is promoting.
