Egghead was hands down my favorite arc post timeskip. The immense amount of payoff and emotion surrounding Kuma still leaves me shocked. You can tell Oda has been wanting to tell this story for a long time, which makes it even better. I’m grateful every day that I caught up so that I’m able to experience moments like this year for One Piece.
I also think Kuma's backstory meant a lot to Oda personally as a father with a daughter as well. You can really tell in the way Kuma interacts with Bonney and how he's willing to sacrifice any and every thing for her.
I think as Colon is Oda's tribute to Vicki the Viking his dad wore an eyepatch so I think his dad will wear an eyepatch and will be that pirate that Oda has wanted to draw for the longest time
That Kuma backstory has done irreparable damage to my heart, I still haven’t fully recovered, then next year it’s gonna be animated, and we gonna be feeling it even worse
Apparently the anime's composer (name escapes me atm) was touring around with the One Piece Orchestra earlier in the year and stated that he was working on the piece that will play during Kuma's flashback with the intention of making everyone cry. I'm both excited and scared lol.
Absolutely goated two years in a row with Egghead's chaos along with Kuma's and Bonney's backstory combined with massive lore drops. Huge emotional payoffs for both Bonney and Robin and the incredible intro to Elbaph. It really is a great time to be a One Piece fan!
Gotta say I appreciate the wrap up of the series in the past year. It puts into perspective how fast and how slow the series can go in a way that can be easily overlooked and unintentionally taken for granted. It puts a much needed context on a real life timeline that I don’t often get which is very helpful. Plus it’s done with a bunch of great artwork and a totally 100% accurate retelling that I enjoyed! Nice job
One of the things that stand out most to me is The Iron Giant ( I refuse to call him anything else ) Leave it to Oda to introduce me to a character and make me emotional in the span of just few chapters over his rotten state, lamenting over people long gone but still wanting to protect others in the name of his best friend.
The phrase "Ripley's believe it or not" makes total sense here lol Did we just find out the fruit that made the Giant Straw hat I love the Elbaph drip for the Strawhats Loki gonna be the Arc princess now 😂, seems like the God Knights will be the antagonist of this arc
2:07 Tissine, you have captured the essence of Kuma's story in this art piece. I'm emotional all over again seeing his agony as his last thoughts run through his mind. ❤❤❤ At 3:50, I love what you did with Bonnie's eyes. ❤❤❤
This wrap-up was really helpful. I feel like there's often a black hole in my OP memory in between the current anime and the most recent manga chapters 😂 Stuff will fall through the cracks just like *that*. Great idea to repurpose the artwork too!! They deserve to be seen more than once
Tissine is great. I love her artwork. Her perspective and eye for visual design is on point. Also really dig her use of color. You made a great choice choosing her as your artist.
Wow, thanks for the recap. It's nuts how much Oda packed into one year, especially with the longer than usual breaks he's been taking. He's delivering solidly on the Final Saga thus far.
Thank you for the amazing recap 🩷 so many great moments and new information this year. I’m excited for this years physical volumes to get translated, everything connects so beautifully when you can binge read
I think Colon's dad is Millet Pine the Roger Pirate with a broken horned helmet who became an expat on Elbaph after the Roger Pirates disbanded or that Millet Pine is Mosa the shaggy guy mentioned last chapter as he is a fan of giants & Elbaph culture.
Just can we let the crew rest and see some wholesome hangouts for another chapter or two? Lets get some training montage style scenes maybe for getting some needed crew level ups for the final stretch.
I think will be hard to overcome the last year. We were with the best of egghead with kuma past and all the stuffs outside egghead, the gear 5 and end of wano in anime and the live action. 2023 was the best year for the fans.
One piece was so incredible this year, I'm so glad I have caught up to the manga and reading up to date since end of june, I cannot wait for the anime egghead arc 2nd part this will be so incredible I can feel it
I like this idea of having the highlights of the year! I feel many people are to negative and complaining about the flaws of One Piece that they also omit a lot of the good things we see throw the year. Thanks for your video ❤
All that was just this year? There is just so much to process, I don't even know where to start. Egghead was incredible from start to finish, and Elbaph seems to be going the same way. A bit of controversy with the returns from the dead but both Saul and Vegapunk make sense to me. And they both serve a purpose, is not like Pell coming back to be a background character, they have things to contribute to the ongoing story.
I think the female god knight might have Maria's intended devil fruit called the Obi-Obi no mi or is a variant of the paper martial art used by CP9 or is the bandage devil fruit
Good year of OP for sure. Feels like 5th gear Luffy blew open the door to the end of the series and everything big since is an effect of the dam breaking. In a meta sense, not a plot sense. I expect it to only keep ramping up as we go, which is exciting
This has nothing to do with this video-however I’m currently reading “Of Wind & Truth” and I happen to be on pg 384 and there is a certain word in Italics, I will not utter that word here. That Brandon Sanderson is a pretty cool guy by putting that in there. I’m sure he thinks himself quite deevy
The end of Egghead was anticlimactic. Oda erased the impact of most of the deaths. Emmeth was very interesting but little was revealed about him. VP's monologue dragged and did not reveal much about devil fruits or the void century. The beginning of Elbaf seemed like an anime filler to kill time while Oda visited South Africa. The Saul stuff was good but feels a bit like fan service. 2025 feels like it's going be about the Holy Knights and Scopper. Should be fun!
Bonney and Robin are the highlights of 2024
Also "Dragon looks east" , "Zoro's a liability" 😂
Dragon looking east got nothing on chapter 1100 with the famous "... thought bubble".
Like he legit thinking about 3 dots.
@@vento5314 He’s known for looking East with the “…” bubble. Pretty sure the original post is referring to the same thing
damn you miss the best character in 2024 Kuma

It's best to caught up to One piece now before the reveal of the One piece
Facts!
I also think Kuma's backstory meant a lot to Oda personally as a father with a daughter as well. You can really tell in the way Kuma interacts with Bonney and how he's willing to sacrifice any and every thing for her.
Egghead was a top tier arc and it seems the same with Elbaf too. Final saga will go down in the history as the pinnacle of storytelling.
I think as Colon is Oda's tribute to Vicki the Viking his dad wore an eyepatch so I think his dad will wear an eyepatch and will be that pirate that Oda has wanted to draw for the longest time
Thanks for a wonderful year of sharing your joy with our joy. What a wonderful One Piece year.
The Tissine Kuma art at 2:07 is my favorite One Piece anything of the year!
That Kuma backstory has done irreparable damage to my heart, I still haven’t fully recovered, then next year it’s gonna be animated, and we gonna be feeling it even worse

You know One Piece is life changing when we get annual summaries like this
Thank you for sharing your journey with us this year, nakama! Here's to a new year full of adventures 💕
Thats a really cool format
One of the things that stand out most to me is The Iron Giant ( I refuse to call him anything else ) Leave it to Oda to introduce me to a character and make me emotional in the span of just few chapters over his rotten state, lamenting over people long gone but still wanting to protect others in the name of his best friend.
Best year of one piece since started reading the manga
The phrase "Ripley's believe it or not" makes total sense here lol
Did we just find out the fruit that made the Giant Straw hat
I love the Elbaph drip for the Strawhats

Great recap. Thanks for the work to do it.
This year for One piece was SO enjoyable! I enjoyed pretty much all the chapters. Thank you for the recap!
Thank you for this amazing video! This Final Saga start was insane
This is a lovely recap of the year, thank you for it. 😄
That was quite the concise recap of the entire year, appropriate considering how much time passes in world. Excited to see what 2025 brings
What a great recap of the story, it all sounds so silly but knowing the rest of the story it hits so hard.
This was spectacular. Thanks for all of y’all’s hard work. What a way to celebrate the year.
Have a happy new year Merphy Napier
I just love the mini outburst about Vegapunk's head in the middle of an otherwise very calm and collected narration 😆😆
Tissine is great. I love her artwork. Her perspective and eye for visual design is on point. Also really dig her use of color. You made a great choice choosing her as your artist.
"*God Bless Everyone Take Care All Long Lives 100 years and above all*"
God I love out-of-context summaries, makes the story sound more insane than it actually is haha.
Awesome work!
What a year! And keep in mind there was a lot of breaks.
Great review! Excellent year for One Piece!
Wow, thanks for the recap. It's nuts how much Oda packed into one year, especially with the longer than usual breaks he's been taking. He's delivering solidly on the Final Saga thus far.
So many revelations this year! Lore is getting crazier can’t wait for 2025!

I would be interested in seeing a video for each year of One Piece manga in the same format.

All the art that came from Kuma and Bonney were amazing. It’s gonna be rough to see that animated
One piece was so incredible this year, I'm so glad I have caught up to the manga and reading up to date since end of june, I cannot wait for the anime egghead arc 2nd part this will be so incredible I can feel it

Nah that’s just some online spaces man - everyone in the real world knows how much kindness and love there is
Jesus Christ, first panel and I'm already crying
I can't wait for that Kuma punched to be animated. It's going to really hit.
I really hope it gets the Luffy punching Charlos treatment or better.
09:56 I agree that Emeth is best boy of 2024, he was an amazing robot with a good heart 😍💖🖤

hehehe, this is the best recap ever. "An uncanny bird harasses a cheeta. Luffy loses his scars, takes up baseball."
04:42 Luffy makes a pizza, Kizaru takes a nap 😏🤣
and four more demons arrive, next comes chaos 😱🥶
One Piece in 2024 was great!!!
I think the female god knight might have Maria's intended devil fruit called the Obi-Obi no mi or is a variant of the paper martial art used by CP9 or is the bandage devil fruit
nha you cant come in here kicking and becoming my favorite one piece tuber, thats kinda criminal
And here silly me, was waiting for jojo stone ocean part 2 review from last 3 weeks :')
I promise it’s coming! I missed a video because of Christmas and it’s thrown my schedule off
@merphynapier42 thank u for the kind response.
Can't wait to see ur reaction to the conclusion of your favourite characters 😁😁💀
Can't wait for the OP Legos in august
"Dragon looks east" Okay, when did she officially get indoctrinated?
My first year end since starting one piece
that was a great recapof a great year
13:08 Vegapunk Stella will still live thanks to a new clone, and new people have arrived in Elbaf, so that means all the good feelings are over 😒🙄🤣😅
Are we getting chapter 1135 review this week ???
She follows the official release so no

NO LEGOS?!?!?!?!?
Out Of all the crazy stuff that happened this year, Vega punk's huge disgusting brain is what made you break character lmao
I'm surprised you showed the swampy fanboy panel and didn't say Nothing Happened

It's obvious that Vegapunk doesn't understand good and evil. How exactly is Lilith evil? Greed, as it always turns out, is the root of all evil.
