Ironically, the film Alexei refers to (the original 1956 "Invasion of the Body Snatchers") was itself "censored" to neuter that powerfully downbeat ending with the man who's speaking the truth and trying to warn everyone being dismissed as a raving loon. It had wraparound scenes added to reassure audiences that an offscreen event had conveniently verified his story, so he _was_ believed and everything will be fine. The original downbeat ending is probably closer to what would happen in reality.

You don't need a dictatorship to have fascism. You just need all your main parties and acceptable to the establishment parties to represent private wealth, corporations and capital. The liberty of a democracy is not safe if people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than the democratic state itself. That in its essence is fascism: ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or any controlling private power. Franklin D Roosevelt

Yes Alexei - citing the source. Throughout my long dalliance with Yotube's jejune algorithms, I've stood my corner in just about any and every echo chamber bar my own. Never demoralised in the face of spineless wonkers - because I'm their antithesis. I think it means they went sheep-shagging with my grandparents or something like that. I'm not really given to care about the sundry carnal fetishes de jour, to be honest: I'm an old fashioned 'lezdom gymnastics and opera glasses' kind of guy. I recall, back in 2017, committing to challenge head-on the illiterati consensus which unwittingly parroted the state-sanctioned blitzkrieg on our Jezza's character. My aim was to encourage them to reflect on the source of their opinion but they tended to become strangely churlish and obtuse about thinking off-piste. If it's not on the bullet point crib card, it's not up for discussion. And then triumphantly Rumplestiltskin-esque when I asked their voting intention. A full tacit confession, your honour. Checkmate, ker-plunk, without a cluedo. Credit where due, Yotube's algorithms have improved in the last year or two - presumably since the algae have evolved beyond relevance of the spotty-ersed wenises who conceived them. An apolitical vague conspiracy exhorter uploaded a vlog last year in which he cited (effectively) 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' (1978) as the original. Donald Sutherland's fine in his own unique way but ... Alexei: circumspect. (No lazy stereotypical assumption intended.) Ironically (in light of Alexei's citation), the leading thesp in 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' (1956) is a fellow by the name of McCarthy. Kevin McCarthy. Shaken, not snatched.

Many people compare the present to 1984, and with good reason, some to the first Cold War with likewise good reason. But I see even further back - one hundred years exactly. In 1923 people in the West were happily joking, partying as if nothing was at risk, totally unaware of the unimaginable terrors to come. And they even had an oppositional press. Feel free to imagine the world ten years from now. I'm unfit to advise anybody, having long ago lost all hopes in this dystopian nightmare. However, if anyone puts hopes in the young people, know two things about the Left: - we are way too few. Even after a revolution (which will inevitably come), real socialists will be below ten percent. - The Left has shot itself in the foot by being absorbed in narcissistic identity politics, having completely lost the greater picture, and especially lost interest in global affairs and geopolitics. Of course I wish you all good luck, anyhow.
Nah, the left didn't shoot itself in the foot at all - it just wasn't ever intellectually developed enough to see the problem, which was a result of the design of education by elites. I say the left just to use your words, but I really mean the working class.

I so want to see Alexei back on our TV screens.
Thank you Crispin and Alexie
While we have air in our lungs let's scream NO!
Surely the censorship goes against the ECHR ? Freedom is speech is a right . There must be a process available to make a case .
Great show. Thanks Crispin and Alexei.
Starmer and Labour have turned off the light at the end of the tunnel and ive never felt as pessimistic as i do today,
The Tories may be loathsome, lacking compassion and obsessed with personal wealth and self-interest, but at least they don’t make much effort to disguise that; and now, they seem to have lost interest in actually governing anything. But I actually fear an incoming Starmer government because they’re already giving off a real ‘thought control’ vibe. It should be possible for Labour members to take a critical position on the Israeli government without being erroneously labelled as ‘anti-Semitic’, for example.
That can be applied to the political class everywhere, there is no difference, and its going to get a lot worse.
I read an article donkeys years ago that claimed that the UK was a decade behind trends in the USA.
Looking at our politics now it seems truer then ever!
You're next!! YOU'RE NEXT!! The body snatchers analogy is spot on👍🏽👊🏽.
If only we had a government of people like Alexei!

Since its inception, the Labour Party has been an uneasy alliance between Social Democracy and Democratic Socialism. Under Blair, Brown and now Starmer, we see both those streams rejected along with all every semblance of the core principle of DEMOCRACY and democratic accountability within the party. Sic Transit Gloria (the) Labour Party
Great to see Alexi here! 👏 I hope it is a turning point, but, frankly, I think we have a way to go yet! 🙈🙊🙉
The germ within the labour party is mandelson, he is the link between Blairs new labour and starmers new blue labour. He's the one pushing buttons behind the scenes.

Exactly. Let's make this film available without any discrimination, including those of us who are physically unable to get to a screening.

i terminated my labour membership the other week. the cancellation process didn't even involve asking me why i was leaving. i was shocked for a moment and then not shocked at all. starmer doesn't want to know what people think. especially what they think about him.
All captured globalist businesses, political parties, NGOs, institutions etc are bankrolled by the globalists.. Underwritten if you like. While all this was going on I bought a book on McCarthyism, it should be interesting to compare that era with now.

Your workplace targets censorship at particular videos on youtube ?
Next time try saying something remotely believable. More likely they want you to do some work. Nasty, those bosses.
I'm not lying. @timg1246 - stick to politeness in future. Sarcasm isn't the best way to introduce yourself to someone.
My workplace has "restricted mode" on You Tube. I work for a local authority in a pretty bog standard job and often listen to Not the Andrew Marr show whilst I'm working at home. It was the youth that got Corbyn his success in 2017. As Alexei says, it’ll be the youth again. Hence the efforts to get it stopped at Glastonbury.
Glastonbury is a music festival and should not be polticised. And of.
End of
Glastonbury? Packed with middle class clowns calling for mass immigration while safe behind a 30 foot fence.
By the 1979 remake he's still running and warning "they're here!".
Love me a bit of Alexei!
At the height of all the smears about AS being embedded in the party I saw one of our elderly 90yo members crying standing by the newspaper display in our local shop. I asked - she wept "am I anti semite? I never thought I was. I dont want to be one. Am I anti semitic?"
That broke my heart.
Alexei Sayle was embedded in the party?

The Green Party? That sounds like a wasted vote in most parts of the country.
Greens are right wing warmongers in Germany and Ireland.
Here in Suffolk greens are outright running the council no vote is ever wasted if its for what you want.
The false optimism of the left, I can say I disagree, but it's still depressing to think about. Good luck to the younger generation, they'll need it for sooo many reasons. Thanks for this video, always great to hear Alexei Sayle
It stuck because Jeremy didn't push back hard enough against the accusations
Yep, if only he had the wit of Mick Lynch. Shouldn't have to be so, but most people dont do rational discourse.
He allowed himself to become a punchbag. He was not able to fight back, because he lacks a sense of humour and possibly, he was always a punchbag. If you are constantly being bullied and you don't fight back, you get crushed.

Keep it up folks, but you have a long uphill struggle.
The Leftfield 'activist' tent at Glastonbury was weird. My sons first time at Glasto... and he kept asking to go there (it was quite quiet and shaded and he learned absolutely nothing). The poutine chips were great though really enjoyed it! My sis is a maternity matron in Manchester. She went to the NHS debate, which was a joke. The panellist first question about what they'd like for the NHS was 'spa treatment'. True story. Sis went a bit red and shouted wtf. At least everyone had a great vibe thanking the BSL interpreter. Who of course was great, like the sound engineers or people who put the tent up. Still. Thanking the BSL interpreter was basically the best bit of content I saw.
Thanks for the report but most workers can they even afford to go to Glastonbury? We need to rebuild in workplaces and on the streets.
What a legend ❤

They work not for you......

When the 80s left are troubled by it then things are bad. The problem is the comedians from the 80s helped bring all this about constantly ranting on about the right and thinking they were so virtuous. It influenced the easily led which has opened the door to people who wish to control us.

For instance the excellent writer Colin Todhunter was a contributor to the Morning Star for over 10 years but during covid they refused to publish his articles because he warned of famine in India if lockdowns were imposed etc
Did he warn of UK economy crashing and cost of living crisis too? As I recall, the left loved lockups and repeated boosters and vilified anyone who questioned their rights being taken away. Many of my left friends left the left at this point.

(No lazy stereotypical assumption intended.)
Ironically (in light of Alexei's citation), the leading thesp in 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' (1956) is a fellow by the name of McCarthy. Kevin McCarthy. Shaken, not snatched.
Speaking of raising issues in comedy settings, where are the current gens’ talents like The Comic Strip? Remember “GLC: The Carnage Continues”? Would it get screened today?

It's back to the times of the Inquisition!
However, if anyone puts hopes in the young people, know two things about the Left:
- we are way too few.

I enjoyed Alexie's work on television when he was relevant, 1981-89. Now it's just sad to see these people in their death rattle phase after their idiology has eaten itself and shat out the inevitable.

Jeremy Corbyn has always been a politician with sincerely held beliefs, he has not sold out on his principles and retains his moral integrity. What Keir Starmer and the Labour Party have done to him is shameful. You are so right we need a new socialist party, Jeremy Corbyn, Mick Lynch and Rowan Atkinson should get together, I would definitely vote for a party with this trio at the helm.
I’ve voted Labour, I’ve voted Conservative so I’m sort of in the middle really but nowadays jeez, there is no difference and tbh I can’t see voting makes any difference because we get the same no matter what. Starmer is awful and as slippery as anything, that ‘Labour Files’ series showed me what goes on, all behind closed doors. Corbyn was stitched up, deffo.
Even with our voices we still get Liz Truss or in fact Starmer - democracy in the UK is a sham
