      @@gabrielmillan284 Soy Jody, No estoy seguro que quieres decir con banda de viento - es musica classico? Pues si es classico recomiendo un #2 con la caña 3 o 3.5 - si es musica popular recomiendo una abetura mas grande come 6 - 11 con una caña floja como una 2.

    For me Benny Goodman's clarinet sound has never been bettered for both classical but especially for full rounded sound for jazz ' I bought your latest Jody Jazz HR Custom Dark soprano sax mouthpiece with 5* facing and its clear tone satisfied me totally both for my classical and dixieland and other jazz style playing but I felt your Jody clarinet mouthpieces lacked warmth a little and brillance. With clarinet playing I feel it's the embouchure & natural sound of the player which can guarantee beauty of tone far more than necessitating the choice of your special mouthpieces good as they are .

      Hi Edward, Thanks for your comments - I'm very glad you like the soprano and I'm sorry we didn't make it for you with the clarinet. You can't win em all. But I was curious, what tip opening did you try on the clarinet and was it our new HR* clarinet that you tried? If it was a tip opening of 1-5, than I agree it probably wasn't bright enough for you, but if it was 6-10 I would be surprised if you needed a brighter mouthpiece. - Thanks again - I was just curious - Jody

    Great Demonstation. If you change from No. 2 to No. 6 you also changed the barrel. Interesting Barrel with No.6. I have never seen one like this. What ist the brand and what changes it while playing it?

    • @jodyespina8277
      @jodyespina8277 2 роки тому

      The barrel is our Kaspar barrel and it’s t has a little more projection than a normal barrel

    Thank you Jody. This seems to be an amazingly flexible mouthpiece. Larger openings allow more flexible sound, various articulations & effects. The only caveat is that the reed must be nearly perfectly balanced and worked on; imperfect reeds will sound ‘nasal’. Unfortunately, clarinet harmonics aren’t same as on the saxophone and while some bad reeds on a sax may sound passable, bad reeds on a clarinet sound really bad. On a clarinet, reed adjusting skills pay off big time.

      What sounds bad and what sound good is totally subjective based on the listener. Just like beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Sound is personal, and everyone is different and hears differently.

      Please, tell that theory of yours to the conductor or to the leader of the orchestra; you are guaranteed to have your bum kicked hard, and then kicked out.

      Hi, Thanks for your comments about the mouthpiece and the reeds. I’m wondering if you went a little softer on the reed if you would have an easier time with reeds. I’m not sure at all but just wondering

    Instead of using 1 to 10 number system, why don't you use 1000th of an inch measurements? Like .046" .059" .063".

    • @jodyespina8277
      @jodyespina8277 2 роки тому +1

      just a choice because all of our other mouthpieces use that system - why does vandoren call it a BD5?

    Hi Jody, I don’t want to be “that guy” but what type of clarinet are you playing? I switched from clarinet to sax years ago and have no idea anymore of what the clarinet market is but I’m in the market

      Hi, That's a Selmer 10G, but I always say try as many different brands as you can. And you might find that a good student horn doesn't sound different enough to warrant the vast price difference depending on what you are doing. For me, have a mouthpiece that you like and then test many clarinets.

    Is there a mouthpiece like the 6+ that is still rich and dark? Do we have to go to the brighter end to get more volume?

    I'm new to clarinet but I'm currently learning for the big band I play in. I've been playing the saxophone for over a decade, and love the Jody Jazz HR (6M tip opening) alto mouthpiece I got about a year ago. What size do you recommend for me? Absolutely looking for a powerful big band swing feel, although I am second alto so I don't want to be too loud. Thanks!
