Back when i browsed reddit I remember Terry posted there about his son wanting to have his own custom gaming computer and instead of just buying one (he was successful at this point) he wanted to build one with his son for fun and the pc building community over there shared what be needed to buy and he did and built it with his son but it wouldn't turn on.. After trouble shooting he resigned to bring it to the local Best Buy geek squad. They took the PC and found that they simply needed to flip the voltage switch on the power supply and then it worked beautifully. And it was a kind of funny moment that we could share as first time builders because it was such a incredibly minor detail that any person could have overlooked whether they were experienced or not. Anyway, obviously a genuinely good dude and good father!

Correct, It's so assine to think that way. Sexual and mental abuse go so deep that it hurts your soul! I never went through that Thank God but personally met a couple of people growing up that did go through that horror. The things that they went through as young kids was despicable and just made you go through the whole range of emotions it takes years of therapy and real work to come out the other side intact. Sadly some people do not make it out!!

The fact that Crews used his platform to advocate for survivors, knowing the ridicule that would follow, shows a level of courage that’s rare. He wasn’t just breaking his own silence-he was fighting to reshape how we see male survivors of abuse, especially in industries where power is so often unchecked. His story continues to serve as a powerful reminder that we have to do better in supporting victims, regardless of gender, and in questioning the systems that protect abusers. Crews isn’t just a symbol of resilience-he’s a call to action.

And it’s even more confusing if a woman is the attacker, many men won’t want to fight back for fear of how it will be turned back on them or sometimes they freeze bc they were raised to never hit a woman, so self defense can feel strange and wrong even when it’s not. I agree. I was smacked on my butt by a supervisor in front of 3 other men I worked with. We were all joking and laughing and the supervisor came up did it. None of t he other males ever touched me like that and we were all so shocked and didn’t know what to do. We just all stared at each other then went back to work. I was only 23 and didn’t know what to do. And this was way before people cared about sexual assault or harassment. A few days later he reported me for having a tongue ring (it was against the uniform policy) and if I reported his actions now it would seem like I was making things up to get put of being in trouble. I didn’t want to drag the other guys into the whole mess because I didn’t want them to have ro choose between giving a witness statement or retaliation by other Chiefs ( this was in the military and t the Chiefs mess will protect their own) so I just never said anything. All that to say yes, it’s a shock when someone violates you. And when people don’t help victims or give them a route to speak up, and hold the perp accountable , it makes them feel more empowered to continue their behavior. I’m glad things are changing.

Being frozen during after SA isn't a choice. It's the primal part of your brain that takes over. It happend to me when I was 14. Dude in his thirties groped me and I just stood there. I always envisioned myself to smack someone. I could be very mouthy and a dareall. I wasn't violent but I always stood my ground with bullies or when my loved ones needed me. But I couldn't move a muscle. He eventually walked away and then I could move again. I was so mad at myself. But then I found out it is a very natural occurence. It doesn't matter what gender or how tough you are. It does matter I guess how treathened or in shock you are. This perp was a powerful billionaire. I do think in a way it's the equivalent being 14 being groped by an older man. It's about power dynamics. But also about the initial shock. I'm a 39 female. I've been SA'ed so much that I do not freeze like that anymore. Cause eventually I sometimes even expected it. But still if the power dynamics are off I could still freeze I guess. You are just overwhelmed and can't process what just happend.

It's hard for the average person to comprehend because literally 1% of the human race knows what that world is like - the one where you have so much power that you can force and silence those who are not able to physically or financially defend themselves
Absolute power corrupts absolutely. It's sickening that Hollywood is as twisted as we all heard about. In fact, it's worse than we could've imagined.

You have more power than them in the moment and in person. Gaslight them the same that you tried to help them. Ya can easily match their lil games.

How many people have had to stay in a job with a crap boss because they had to eat, and didn’t have an immediate backup plan? Terry’s situation was that, but worse. All those that were making fun of him revealed how incapable of reasoning that they were.

This is a general problem for men who have been sexually assaulted, both my sister and I were raped by our parents in our childhood. And the reaction it gets is usually polar opposites, my sister is often met with sympathy and empathy when talking about it. Where I've personally experienced that I mostly get stupid comments like I liked it because my mom was "hot", how is it rape if I got hard or why didn't I fight back since it happened in my teen years.
I especially get the last one because similar to Terry Crews I'm a big muscular man at 6'7 and around 240 lbs and I train Kickboxing and Taekwondo, I think it's great that female victims are taken more seriously today I just wish that the male victims got the same energy. Terry Crews is one of my Idols since the day he stepped forward and spoke up, and he stood strong even tho alot of the public was mocking him throughout it all.

The fact that these so called men mocked terry crews is beyond disgusting. As someone who went through months of SA, grooming, every kind of manipulation imaginable, as a child, I can definitely say that Terry’s reaction in that situation would have been a response of almost anybody. When it happens in a public place, you’re so shocked, your body and brain doesn’t even want to believe or comprehend the situation as reality and so you freeze. And then your brain literally tries to convince you that it didn’t happen and then you face the guilt of “maybe it’s my fault” bc that way atleast you feel in control of yourself and reality.
It took me 8 years to convince myself that what happened to me for MONTH-AS A MINOR- was not my fault and gather enough to courage to seek justice.
