Beautiful conversation, thank you both! Rich, when you said Mud I had a visual of No Mud. No Lotus. by Thich Nhat Hanh, before you corrected yourself to say Mug. Works for me either way!

Thank you to everyone here who is vegan for the animals. I would like to interview Rich. I’d like to talk to him vystopia and veganphobia. Do you think he experiences either of them? I don’t. I think he never talks about the animals because he never considers them in his veganism. Am I wrong? Can someone point to where he has ever talked about their intense and never-ending suffering and our moral duty to be vegan for THEM (not for ourselves).

Finding like hearted humans, not like minded, who are coming from the same place of compassion and love and in the like heartness we can be open minded to different thoughts, ways, become comfortable with not knowing, grow. A total paraphrasing but still so golden and beautiful

God bless the NHS in the UK, the same standards of care are available to all regardless of income. Yes it's under resourced and Brits rightly complain about this, but may this core principle never be compromised!
Totally agree, his neighbor was a Doctor, M.D. and certainly made a huge difference in his care. That is Rare for most people. Many are totally ignored by the medical establishment with very serious illnesses. His experience is very rare and privileged. His corporation and his mentors offered amazing influence also. Most do not have that. This is not something any of us can expect.
100% correct. He obviously had elite level access to highest medical care. "Normal" would be stonewalled as a trauma case, not getting 5-star surgeons, being forced to accept worst case scenarios, languishing in substandard rehabs. And that's just the medical care. But he also had the private tour of Auschwitz and the executive coaches for his mindset.

Excellent interview, thank you. Visited Eva's museum in Terre Haute and remember her response in 2003 when the first museum was fire bombed. News folks were interviewing her and her response was, "I've had better days, but I've had worse" 💗
My Spanish teacher in college was big on meditation. She made us do breathing exercises during the first few minutes of class in order to calm our brains down before starting the lesson. I am so grateful for her teachings on so many levels.

Awesome episode. Michael is so full of wisdom, and his talk of "Heart minded" vs "Like minded" is absolutely brilliant. He is an intelligent, courageous, compassionate human being. It is a privilege to listen to him.
Rich - please know that whatever negatives that social media plagues each of your individual listeners as well as yourself with, are worth it because of episodes of work like this one you and Michael have gifted us all with here. Much thanks to you sir, and this amazingly "normal/everyguy" guest who was, in actuality - truly extraordinary. Together you have provided us with immeasurable value to continue with our day to day struggles and triumphs. Bless you two. 🙏
Much needed. I am currently one year into a slipped disc injury and this convo has helped me massively with dealing with the daily struggle of not being able to run indefinitely.

Ive been listening to podcasts since podcasts became a thing because I have been looking for like hearted people most of my life. I have always felt like a Buddha baby who was born in a swamp. 2010 was my wakeup year...as I see it now. After that I began funding glimpses of my true self in interesting ways. If you cannot find inspiration in your society the internet is a "Rich" source if you know where to look. This beautiful hearted guest...and your conversation Rich was one of the best I've ever heard. It has set me up for a beautiful day of joy and contribution. Thank you. ❤
THIS. This man is a gem. Thank you for this, I was able shift threw feelings I had as a wife of someone who was in an accident. We are from New York. My husband was doing the Mayors Cup criterium race in Boston in 2014. It was a beautiful Sept. day and we had our 6 yr old in tow who was used to watching daddy race. (we had just been up in Portsmouth NH the weekend before) so we were in the most historic part of the city on a gorgeous day. The race starts, and he was doing great. He was and still is obsessed with cycling. All of a sudden the race pauses,, and the hundreds of racers continue to go round and round but slowed. Someone yelled out that there was a "man down". So, not thinking much we continued to watch the cyclists looking for Daddy. "where is daddy" I said. I was really curious and not worried. My husband was a volunteer fireman always helping \, perhaps he's at the scene... so I walked toward the ambulance and scene. My heart stopped, my husband was being lifted up on a stretcher into an ambulance in front of the Old State House in steps away from where the Boston Massacre happened hundreds of years ago. We hop in the front of ambulance and the EMT said your husband has a "big boo boo" they looked really. pale and told me we were heading to Mass General trauma unit (which was a familiar b/c the year before we had the Boston Marathon bombing). I had no answers from surgeons. He was rushed to surgery. Long story short, they all went down in the peloton and his arm got caught on those sharp orange/ red barriers they put up for races. It was a super long surgery and nobody called me. I was alone in a city I'm not really familiar with. I had a 6 year old. I walked around not to show tear with her in the public garden looking at ducks. He'd been hit in Colorado bad once ,so Micheal made me laugh bought what his wife said initially. This made me cry, it was powerful. So relatable being the human experience and also cycling. They were able to save his arm.Mass General is amazing. I thank god, the amount of blood on the sidewalk was crazy. Blood at the Old State House. - surreal. We had to extend our time in Boston and I was hearing from relatives "how can you let him cycle after getting hit by cars and now this" this wasn't easy and I felt like people blamed me. Anyone who knows cycling, you cannot stop them from riding. bike was much bigger than people understood. lots of rehab, physical therapy and trips to doctors in Boston. He got back on the bike though, of course as soon as he could.i support him, took awhile but I get it now. We love Boston and visit all the time, I feel connected to the special city. Thanks for having Micheal on to tell his story.
There are 'martyrs' who give out of codependency. They give as away to avoid their own misery. They aren't happy, but just avoiding their own misery by focusing on others. I know because I have done that myself. Cults are similar.
I never write anything, but I'll make an exception this time. I make Michael's words my own. You and Julie are a MAJOR inspiration for all of us. You are high-caliber humans and we cannot thank you enough!
Wow my dad was killed by a drunk driver with a revoked license and 5 prior duis. Listening to Michael I see so many parallels to my own journey to forgiveness and understanding how to live life in such an unfair world
Loved loved loved this interview. I wish so much I could share it with my loved ones but most of them don’t speak English well enough to capture all of this amazing story, especially for over 2 hours long. The duration of these interviews is what permits them to be so deep and meaningful and therefore so special so incredibly powerful. Thank you SO much for this. What a great way to start the day 🙏🙂☮️🩵

Enjoying this podcast! Just what I needed today! this story has been very helpful to get my day going. Loved how relatable and parallel the mother relationship was to my own. The chase, the pain, the last bad days. Thank you for this!
Absolutely LOVED this podcast! ❤ thank you soooo much. Almost every time I do a breathing exercise, I start to cry.....probably means I need to do more and get stuff released.
So I signed up on the Pause Breathe and Reflect App. His comments on breath-work and meditation being granola hit home for me and I laughed out loud when he was saying that to Rich! I know that I need to be more present and mindful. Sitting meditating in silence is way too hard for me. Only a few days in on his format, but I like the vibe and how short these guided meditations are. I would like to have this guys chill attitude, even just a little bit. Love the concept about rippling, and PBR. I know that I have to “do the work”, but I’m really enjoying this format. The world needs more bridges, not more walls. This guy is building bridges! Peace.
This man is very much explaining my life. Lovely analogy of pebbles/rocks in your backpack. Average really isn't average! Thank you for this session. Good for the soul.
Nothing like a hard landing during a tough bike ride to add perspective. Some of us need this but I would not recommend it. 10 months in a neck brace taught me a few things.
There’s a known statement: “I love humanity.. it’s just humans I can’t stand.” It could be called the Humpty Dumpty phase where all the kings horses and all the kings men, cannot yet put Humpty (humanity) back together again. Well listening to Michael, this every day man I believe humans are full of possibilities after all. Thank RR. 🌱

Rich you hit the gold star with Michael as one of your most important guests to listen and learn from. You and Michael ARE the role models Humanity NEEDS to become our best version of ourselves. I highly doubt if Michael spends too much time on some irrelevant social media platforms or fills his heart and mind with violence watching porn. The BEST way to become a BETTER version of yourself is to learn from the BEST people on the planet who have the kind of heart you and Michael have.
Thinking further on this: It is unrealistic and immature even, perhaps, to think you are not going to have any more bad days. Of course you are. Loved ones will die, shitty things will happen. What is important is how you choose to deal with the bad things that life will undoubtedly send your way. Saying it is your last bad day is an impossible standard to uphold.
Not really. It’s just another way for of seeing the whole enchilada but I understand what you’re saying. Sometimes. We have to change our approach a little bit.
It feels hard to me, too, this concept, but I think he was saying that he grew into using a different gauge for labeling his life as bad or good days b/c he realized the metrics he was using were inadequate; limitation of only 2 narrow poles(good/bad;yes/no, etc), vs nuances of lots of moments in a day, so that was the last day he would use that narrow, knee-jerk metric➡& w/time he recognized all the peeps at the scene of the accident really knew their stuff & were part of why he didn't die or b/c paralyzed & that was a valuable thing in the day, etc➡Then he discovered a new way to evaluate & label his day➡ie: his loving & being loved by his wife & kids, the people he values/time w/people, etc vs judging his days on achieving promotions, winning races, material success, etc. He was not advocating for stuffing or pollyanna-ing➡just sharing how taking a moment to ask himself how he wanted to label/judge his situation, helped him side-step a knee-jerk negative downward, constricting spiral. That doing that instead opened up space inside him that made his life better.❤

Thanks for this amazing inspering Podcast, I have similar experience but actually wanted to died and was ready for it. When I woke up from Colon Ractal Cancer sugery at 20.5 years old , I was pissed but the Medical team made me appriciate and I turned my behaviour around and inspired others to cope with this illness as the outcome is for life, which is pretty disgusting but life goes on. I am grateful for everything. Just sadden by humans around me who judge me for the colour of my skin and I made the mistake of moving to Australia from UK which is a racist country and makes me wanna cry , I am very active , motivated, upbeat person and found some individuals are threatend by me without understanding me. So I keep away from these nasty Australians (not all)

Covid was a shock because we were used to having a cure or a vaccine that prevented an epidemic. It was a wake-up call in a sense. At this time, after accepting awareness that we are one, our country splits and we slide straight into either Democratic freedom or dictatorship and the King and his slaves. We are once again apprehensive about where our country is headed. Love and kindness again awaits …. ❤. Loved your podcast, it does give me hope and trust that common sense and kindness will win and become the new ripples.
I appreciate many use god as protector. I agree with this gentleman on “if that were the case, then…” events happen in life. Best to just take as it comes and try to keep thoughts positive. Spirituality , being connected to all and the earth is the best way to live.

If it were my world, I would send all teenagers to travel to a country if of a completely different language and culture, have them live with a family of another religious faith for a week or two. They would see how most cultures and religions are fundamentally the same. They want to be neighbourly, worldly , be open and kind, to be honest and help out families in need bc anyone could end up homeless, penniless. Travelling to Spain and living with a Spanish family opened my eyes. I wish that on everyone. My husband who’s Welsh went on a “high-school” 2 week cruise, publicly funded . They got the travel with fresh eyes. It’s important to feel vulnerable and get through with a smile and that vulnerableness to make your way, taking that risk. At least , students should be able to do these exchanges within their own countries. And taking care of all different types of animals…. All of the above is teaching empathy, which I feel is lacking these days :( The simplest, cheapest version is, talk to everyone from everywhere. Don’t be afraid. Everyone has a story. But it’s not my world.

This has been the hardest interview to get through. I survived something I shouldn’t have and really struggled. Rather than being grateful, I had a “f it, I shouldn’t be here” attitude which was terrible. I’m appreciative of this interview. The toughest ones are the most impactful. I still don’t know where I’m headed but I’m better for this. I would like to hear from people who didn’t go straight to a place of gratitude - or maybe that’s the story I tell. 🧐❤️

Agree, I have 0 relatability to celebs
So true. There's reg folk out there with much bigger stories, that will never be told
Indeed!
what's interesting is, I assumed with this kind of story and eloquence! Goes to show "popularity" means absolute zer0.
I agree!! I love shows like Rich’s but after a couple of years I realized I’m only hearing from “successful” (millionaires/celeb) people.

Can someone point to where he has ever talked about their intense and never-ending suffering and our moral duty to be vegan for THEM (not for ourselves).
Rich... You're an intelligent interviewer. You've found your niche. I needed this interview this morning
Just be kind folks. Kindness is good for you and your longevity

Thank you Rich for this interview. This one is one of my favorite podcasts of yours. Loved it so much. What an incredible human.
Love your podcast, been listening for years, but this was among the most inspiring, humbling, and grounding. Thank you.
Excellent interview, thank you.
Visited Eva's museum in Terre Haute and remember her response in 2003 when the first museum was fire bombed. News folks were interviewing her and her response was, "I've had better days, but I've had worse"
💗
My Spanish teacher in college was big on meditation. She made us do breathing exercises during the first few minutes of class in order to calm our brains down before starting the lesson. I am so grateful for her teachings on so many levels.
Awesome, the rocks in the back pack, why is this happening for me, and forgiveness. One of the best conversations ever. Love the idea of like hearted.

❤ I absolutely fell in love with this interview.
Much needed. I am currently one year into a slipped disc injury and this convo has helped me massively with dealing with the daily struggle of not being able to run indefinitely.

Thank you Micael and Rich for bringing much needed love and inspiration into the world. "Like-hearted." I'll take that nugget with me today.❤
Thanks for sharing your life incident/event. Bless you n your family.
❤❤❤❤❣😘
One immutable fact I've discovered in my life. It's almost impossible to be unhappy when you are either/both "Giving" or "Grateful"
Listening to Michael I see so many parallels to my own journey to forgiveness and understanding how to live life in such an unfair world
We are all in the same struggle on this big rock . Learn something new everyday . Always great shows . Thanks RR
What a wonderful podcast guys. Thank you. Both of you are so well grounded and epitomize the very essence of humility and courage.
What a great guest , thank you for the heart warming episode .
Love, love, loved this interview. Thank you for the wisdom and insight. Michael has this calm about him. Love that.
"Like-hearted" people. I love this idea!! 🥰
Excellent conversation. Thanks Rich!

Rich,
Loved your compassionate listening today. 😊
I cant stop smiling. Thank you for having this beautiful soul on
"We have all been created to carry forward an ever-advancing civilization."
To do this takes a lot of mindfulness.
Great interview.
Thankyou! 🙏🕊
This episode is ridiculously interesting. There is something about this guy. He is the personification of authenticity.

This guys is seriously the coolest. His story telling is on point. Already one of my favorite podcasts of yours, Rich.
Peace.
Really a terrific and meaningful episode. Thank you
Please do more Everyman/Everywomen/Every-them interviews… this was SO good!!
Thank you 🙏 I am 65 today and just chanced on this conversation. Yes I’m doing the sweet ripples of. LIFE ❤
Beautiful episode
This man is very much explaining my life. Lovely analogy of pebbles/rocks in your backpack. Average really isn't average! Thank you for this session. Good for the soul.
Nothing like a hard landing during a tough bike ride to add perspective. Some of us need this but I would not recommend it. 10 months in a neck brace taught me a few things.
Love ❤️ from 🇳🇴
There’s a known statement:
“I love humanity.. it’s just humans I can’t stand.” It could be called the Humpty Dumpty phase where all the kings horses and all the kings men, cannot yet put Humpty (humanity) back together again. Well listening to Michael, this every day man I believe humans are full of possibilities after all. Thank RR. 🌱
great interview that can teach us so much. Thank you both.

Fantastic conversation. Can´t wait to learn more about Michael and his work. Thank you Rich.
One of my favorite episodes. I may listen again!
Wholesome, Inspiring, Engaging dialogue, a total Value Add 💝
Love this!
Good talk! Thanks for continuing the podcast! I'm enjoying it!
It's amazing how this podcast just keeps on becoming more interesting and insightful, year after year, episode after episode. Thank you
Great episode! Rich is always great and loved Michael! Looking forward to Pause Breathe Reflect.💕

Great episode!! So inspiring and I will take a piece of this with me today and always!
So I keep away from these nasty Australians (not all)
Some of us Australians are just beautiful humans to
Keep up the amazing work. You are the true hero on this web page. My respect. 🙏

Love from Pakistan
May you be well.
I love this guy!
I appreciate many use god as protector. I agree with this gentleman on “if that were the case, then…” events happen in life. Best to just take as it comes and try to keep thoughts positive. Spirituality , being connected to all and the earth is the best way to live.
Loved this episode. Thankyou

Sehr toller Studiogast und ein interessantes Gespräch Danke und Gruß aus Hamburg
All of the above is teaching empathy, which I feel is lacking these days :(
The simplest, cheapest version is, talk to everyone from everywhere.

I resonate with your comment ❤
Micheal, did Danny Steinman deisgn the logo on your hat? Thank you so much for sharing your story!
This are the life of ordinary people. Of course most want extraordinary life which we have to work hard and smart to achieve it.
