If Nick could choose between meeting the love of his life, having $100million in his bank, or a workout with Jay Cutler... which body part would he train?
The chemistry and banter between the 3 of you is fantastic. 2hrs plus feels like 20 minutes. Makes cardio that little bit more enjoyable. I look forward to every episode to see nicks body grow and head shrink 😅.
This podcast has motivated me so much to stay on track for my goal of going pro. It's hard not having any bodybuilding friends. This podcast helps a lot
I was feeling super fkn shitty....this bro chat cheered me up...and I even went to the gym....and listened to this while working out...thank you guys!!💪🏼🐷💯
Relating to training light vs heavy - Me at 50 years old and doing lighter weight for more reps to failure, have gained more muscle than heavier weight/low reps. I don't have near the base muscle of a bodybuilder (I'm 6 ft/205 lbs/10% bf), so a bodybuilder may respond differently. But I'm enjoying the ride of slow and steady gains without any injuries. This channel is great, keep it up Fouad!
Fouad - Nick are you there, you look paralysed 😂😂 I don’t buy it, too many factors go into building muscle for me. For a study like this to be accurate everyone would need to be on a set diet, training program, same cycle, same rest and sleep times and external stress factors. I think there’s too many fundamentals of building muscle to isolate which is nearly impossible and the elephant in the room is all the studies are done on joe average natural athletes. Interesting tho 🤘🏻
The idea with the failure at various weights seems to be coincidence to what JP says in regard to training all rep ranges and getting strong in all. . .
Please do not hate me for my comment. Fouad did not exactly rephrase Brad´s Schoenfeld´s Studies, which might have caused confusion. Brad never wrote anything about 100 reps in a set. 35 reps at max. Limiting factor would be lactic acid. His studies however in my opinion have debunked the myth that there are "optimal" rep ranges, which is in fact individual, even different from bodypart to bodypart. Recommending someone to always have 8-12 reps for all bodyparts is in fact questionable. Trying different intervalls (6 reps, 10 reps and 20 reps) in a set and observing the results might be the way to go. @Jamie you are right. But Brad has always pointed out the same thing 😉. As a fan of JP I really love to see that there are also different rep ranges between the working set and the backoff set in the programs I know from JP. So fundamentally these studies are practically implemented already, even if there was a different intention before. Love both your contents. Greets from Germany ✌
@@MP-mz7un ah appreciate that man, I thought the same tbh that we were already putting this into practice in the sense we fail at different rep ranges, I agree fully that failure is failure but weight must be enough to stimulate the mechanical tension part enough for the muscle to fail before the lactic acid get's you like you touch on there :)
I enjoy the lower volume high intensity because it’s a mental thing when you only have one or two working sets, it forces you to really make them count and I feel like it is more adaptable to progressive overload without a crazy surplus of calories
After running a gym for the last 5 yrs, it's my opinion that no one system is better than the other. The 2 most jacked members I have train completely different. One is in there for 3 to 4 hours as he is a day trader and it's his social time...its his Cheers. He rarely lifts heavy and does a shit ton of volume. The other is a hard working, union plumber who is in and out in 45 or less every time, training with low volume to failure. To make things more contradictory, the dude training to failure with heavy ass weight is the one with the round, round muscle and flowing physique while the dude doing all the pump work has the rugged, Branch Warren type build. Genetics trump all I guess.
24:48 I think we've got to respect what Guy is saying here and remember that this high volume research has come out over the last decade. 1) Prior to this last decade this was not the way things were presented. Certainly was not the focus when I began in 2000. 2) Many researchers Fisher, Steele etc disagree with him Before all the nuthuggers jump in all I'm calling for is a bit of perspective
Fouad i have been ur fan since early 2005 , saw ur pics on facebook back when magazines were a trend .... all da respect for being soo humble and kool 🙏🏼
Great one Fouad, please get Mike Isreatel in with these guys for a podcast, he would explain hypertrophy, training, diet question in the best/easier way possible(He's a phd as well in sports physiology)Layne Norton ish quality of smart.
Made the mistake of watching this podcast with my son’s mom around. She absolutely loved it and now I have to wait for her to be around before I can watch new ones lol. She loves the dynamic between y’all and the topics
I know this is an old show but this one made me sub. I've only seen two others which were great as well but this one made me laugh out loud wearing headphones causing people to look at me like I'm crazy a couple times. The toilet plume just sealed the deal and I can't believe I just blew through damn near two and a half hours. I didn't even realize how long it has been. Thank you.
"if he dies he dies" had me rolling. These are honestly the best podcasts of the ones you do! The others are still good of course! edit: peakey blinders is one of my favs
Between this podcast and Bad Friends podcast......I never stop laughing. Damn you have come so far in moderating your show. One of the best for sure!!!
I love your podcast, and the one thing I learned today was to shut the lid on the toilet before you flush so shit particles don't fly all over my bathroom!!! NEVER STOP THIS PODCAST!
Fouad out of all the podcasts out you are by far my favorite...I love the guests you bring on and you just seem like a cool ass dood...very knowledgeable too...keep up the good content brother...🤛
Fouad respondong to guys challenege is the most badass hes ever come across as, the confidence is just amazing, and i love that its about cheat meals ahahaha
The application of what Brad was saying is that the mechanical tension ultimately ends up being similar if you’re doing more reps with less weight. Proximity to failure is important to properly stimulate the muscle to grow. There is also a presumed minimum stimulus as far as effort, so 100 reps of one plate probably would build about as much muscle as walking uphill or something due to the lack of tension put on the muscle. The good thing about this is training in both capacities is beneficial for hypertrophy, so sometimes it’s a good idea to spare the joints and other parts of the body the heavy load by using less weight but still approaching failure.
I don’t even look at the time stamps on these anymore, the entire podcast is always so fun lol
its the best combo
I’m just getting started. Can’t wait to watch on and off throughout my busy day 😀
Cheers to that
Didn't no he had time stamps lol
