Hi Neevesy! Great watch as always. Electric bikes, ho hum.. not a problem with them, for what they are! The problem is the government. Who can’t see past their own noses. Forcing, us onto EV’s. Never mind, tho. Keep up the great work.

Thanks Michael, great video as always, very enjoyable. Hope you enjoyed the triumph in Mallorca, I lived there for about 7 years from 2016, there's some absolutely beautiful roads, as you'll know. Had my V4 Panigale there, and a Honda Enduro, but also a super little 125 scooter, which was such a great little thing. Scooters are fantastic things I think, love them just for nipping around on. Cheers.
Hi Michael , love the channel you have taught me a lot around safety since coming back after 20 years so thanks, What is the biggest tip for safe riding apart from speed please ?
Hi Neevsey. I have been following your channel for quite sometime now and notice you either liked or loved almost every bike you tested long term or short. I believe modern bikes have more pro than cons. Is there a bike (production not custom) that you have ridden since the noughties that you truly detest, the absolute pits, you wouldn't throw your leg over ever again under any circumstance..?
Neevesy-did you rock up on the scene in time to see the heyday of the wild bike launches with all the attendant debauchery and wretched excess with bad behaving journos? Not naming names, but what were some of the wildest things that you have seen from the press in your time as a tester?
Hi Neevesey, more great content. Al Fagan rode an electric trials bike a year ago and he thought that was the perfect application for electric bikes, I can't think of another one, maybe motocross
Another amazing video, thanks a lot for all this content! Please keep it coming! Tyre question: what would be your weapon of choice to fit on a supernaked that is ridden mostly on dry roads, and does a track weekend once or twice a year? Would going down the sports tyre route with something like an S23 be enough to really enjoy a track scenario - as it seems like the modern crop of sports tyre are incredibly performant - or is it worth it being a little more aggressive by choosing a sportier option like a Rosso Corsa or a RS11 instead?
Hi Neevesy, a logistics question for you. You start a lot of these with 'I have been on my travels...' On those travels, how do you pack for your flights? Hand luggage or full check-in with helmet etc. Just interested on how it works and what you have found to be best over the years especially now as there are a number of fly & ride holidays popping up these days. Loving the channel, I even watched your drumming ones from back in the day!!
Thanks for watching...all of them! I pack all my bike kit, including my lid in my hold baggage. I carry my lap top etc in my carry-on. I've never had a problem with damage in all this time. If I'm only away for a night, don't need to write anything when I'm there (rare) and it's the kind of bike where I can use casual riding kit, I'll wear it on the plane and take my lid as hand luggage. Hope that helps? Cheers M
I remember riding on the PR3 tyres in torrential rain for over 800 miles and could not believe how much wet grip they gave. I've been a user of the Road 4&5 since then. Will put 6's on when the time to change comes around.
Hi Neevesy, really enjoying catching up with all of your videos having discovered them recently. Loads of great food for thought. Off the back of this discussion about riding in the rain, what bikes do you recommend that are particularly suited to life in year round very wet and hot conditions? I ask as a Brit expat living in Singapore, where chains seize literally over a weekend if you forget to take care of them and the humidity makes practically anything rust or UV rot. I’m currently riding a 2014 OC GSA - with its shaft drive, great finish and fairly gentle power it is faring pretty well. Previously in SG I’ve owned an FJR1300 (a bit of a handful in a monsoon), a Tmax (fantastically practical), a Duke 690 (seized two chains and the electronics did not love the insane rain) and have ridden loads of rental bikes like DRZ400SM’s and KTM EXC300 2 strokes. I’m mainly wondering about living with the thing and it not trying to kill me every time it rains. Thoughts? PS - My name is Al. I always feel for you when you have to try to make heads or tails out of load of jibber jabber usernames when telling us who wrote you the question 😂
Hi Neevesy, what’s your thoughts on fuel stabiliser for winter bike storage? My tank is brimmed, bike clean and treated with anti corrosion and up on paddock stands. But do you recommend fuel stabiliser? (2009 Repsol Fireblade). Thanks for all your videos
Hey Michael. Thanks for these great videos. Moto journalism sounds challenging. Hopefully it will pick up. Technologies change but great writing, presenting and expert knowledge are always valued. You look fit (not like that!). I’ve got three days on track in April. It’s usually only one and I would be tired after it. Any specific training I should be doing? Cheers.
Nothing specific. You don’t need to train like a racer for a track event, but the fitter you are in general, the easier it’ll be. It’s more what you do during those three days: eat little and often, drink tons of water and take your time on the bike. You don’t have to do every single session. And have fun!
@ Cheers. That is a good point on not doing every session. I noticed that faster / more experienced riders at my local track days sit out some sessions. And they always pack up and leave before the end. Thanks again.
Thanks for answering my questions about riding in the rain, funny u said about the front end grip if the bike is reluctant to turn in. My bike is a zx12r with road 6 tyres, I do sometimes experience the front end won't turn in, what can u do to increase the front end grip? I assume the road 6 gives plenty of grip even in the wet.
Hi Neevesy, love the videos, how well did you know Nikky Hayden, he grew up not too far away from me in Kentucky, but I never got to meet him, all I ever would hear is that he was fast and fearless?
Great video again. As for EV bikes in uk, it is pointless we are only 1% of road users, and emissions are next to nothing. Not to say evs are bad , but problem with small electric bike is passing test and licensing etc. That's why electric scooters and push bikes are popular with youngsters and part of the reason why not many young riders are coming through.
Plus man made global warming is a load of bollards created by a group called the club of Rome ordered by the banksters Rothschilds to control the population. Absolutely nothing of what the said has come true
In the wet, try lifting your bum slightly off the seat to react more quickly with your body balance if a tire slips. In wet conditions, I often end up looking like that meme of the rider with their knee down while the bike is barely leaning. It might look funny, but keeping the bike more upright is generally safer and better for grip in the wet.
I've been wanting an electric TMax for years. I live in a large spanish city and we have lots of electric scooters everywhere. They make perfect sense for the city; you can have a normal conversation with the passenger, they're quick up to legel and slightly illegal speeds, air pollution is a problem in the city and there are charge points everywhere. However, only BMW are making electric maxiscooters which is what I need for commuting to my job outside the city. An electric T Max seems like a no brainer. The BMW CE 04 has some luggage space and would have more if it had a TMax style design.
Hi Neevesy, love your videos, keep up the good work. I have a question on bike setup. Im trying to get my 2015 gsxs1000 to handle. Ive gone up to a 55 profile rear tyre and shortened the wheelbase. It turns into the corner nicely now, but it runs wide when i open the gas in the middle of the corner. Any idea on what direction to take with the suspension? More front rebound? I feel like Ive fiddled with the standard suspension as much as i can, but i appreciate there's only a limited amount it can do.
Get the suspension done, I've got an 18 plate and got a nitron shock and k tech fork springs it's night and day difference. Standard suspension is shite
Hi mate, I wouldn’t necessarily shorten the wheelbase or it’ll be too snappy and wheelie prone. You want to get it so the handling is nice and neutral. It might be nose heavy, in which case it can understeer, or if the rear shock is too soft it’ll drift wide on the throttle. Standard settings on the road (even with a 55 profile rear tyre) should be fine. Maybe go back to stock and start again? Check the tyre pressures are the recommended ones, too. Or as the helpful chap says, get aftermarket suspension and a good set-up. 😊👍
Hi Neevsey. What do you think about the 2025 CBR600R? A return to needle tacho, no driver aids etc. If demand continues do you think 90s/00s supersport has a chance of continuing on?
Broke my back in 6 places, shattered left femur at knee,& right tib/fib at dony in aug 22, both hands & left foot in 21 at dony, collar bone on the road in 20, ribs at cadwell in 18 😅. Back n legs one smarted a bit, but i recognised your description of your broken hand experience 👍 Dont think much to electric bikes 😬
Hi, got a quick question . If you get a speed camera flash in Spain does the fine/paperwork find its way back to you in the UK. Will be going next June.
Hi Neeves. A more career-related question, with your experience as a motorcycle journalist, have you ever considered making a switch to PR for any bike manufacturer?
'Are electric bikes the future?' Unless there is a leap forward, a breakthrough in battery technology with much increased energy density and/or far shorter re-charge times, probably not..... However, they do work incredibly well as smaller E-moto's... where a 30-mile range can be enough to have a good dose of fun on the offroad trails for a couple of hours. I own an MT09 SP and a Talaria MX5... and it's the MX5 that gets far most use at this time of year. I've had people tell me it's gay... or to get a real bike etc etc and I just laugh. What they don't realise is that I can take my MX5 almost anywhere without upsetting people and getting the cops called on me because it is so quiet and stealthy... and that is HUGE advantage to have over my brothers KTM 250EXC or any IC bike . The only place he can take the KTM with no concerns, is our nearest offroad centre. It's one of the most fun things I've ever bought and I hope to upgrade to to the new 25kW E-ride Pro SR next summer. Aprox 34bhp and weighing in at 83kg.
Broke my pelvis in my first and so far only proper accident. Also a highside, but at significantly slower speed on an old SR125, and in a straight line (I was 17 okay? I blame the drum brake). Not fun.
@neevesybikes Well I landed on a ford focus, which I suppose reduced the height, but yeah, I've heard it was a bit spectacular. My uncle said "At least you got the biggie out the way early".
Hi! I need to change my tires on my KTM 890 SMT. From factory it came with Michelin Power GPs. These were great, and overkill for road riding and wear out really quickly. I only drive on the road. I like to push it on twisty roads and keep good pace and lean angle. Would a tire like Michelin Road 6 be good for fast road riding? Or do I need to step up to Michelin Power 6 / Bridgestone S23s? I live in Norway so temperature is often just 10-15 degrees when i ride. From what I've heard S23s is the best overall tire now for sporty road riding. I want a tire that grips enough to push safely with confidence and feel, but also for the tire to last at least 10000kms
I have an MT09SP. It came on S23's, but I have used many Road 6's since. I ride briskly, often in the low temperatures that you do. Never had an issue with the Road 6, and it remains my go-to tyre. Excellent grip, good life, and a comfortable tyre. My last rear did 6100km (Road 6) and I only got 3600km from the S23's. Front Road 6 lasted 16'400km. I'm no Neevsey, but the Road 6's didn't feel like they had any less grip than the S23's.
@fred3527 hmm, interesting that the rear only lastet 6000kms. Everybody says the Road 6 tyres last really long. I would think it lasted longer. I suspect you drive very actively then . No track days?
@fred3527 My 23 MT09 SP came on the OEM S22's and my rear only lasted 4k km. The OEM S23's that your MT09 comes with are inferior to the retail S23's with less rubber.. I'd expect the superior retail version with its multi compound to last closer to twice as long judging from user accounts. I'll be going for a new retail S23 for the rear and would only consider going with the Road 6 if I was replacing both front and rear.
Leccy bikes... I believe they will become relevant within a decade or so. The UK already has tons of clean energy production and only uses gas-fired power stations to provide 'infill' during peak demand periods. New battery tech is moving away from using contentious materials (which are also used in car & bike production, but arse rags such as the Express or Mail forget to mention that when pasting oil company propaganda). Very soon cars & bikes will have the same range as current vehicles with smaller battery packs and ultra-quick charging. Samsung and CATL already produce 'future gen' batteries.
electric 125s in a nutshell: they cost twice as much as their petrol equivalent and go at best half the distance, a lot worse in winter; generally a lot heavier, meaning less agility when filtering; when the battery goes wrong, the replacing cost will be higher than the residual value of the moped; an italian magazine calculated in roughly 60k km the distance you have to travel before you return of your initial purchase investment, considering lower Emoped maintenance cost, energy and taxes, but sadly not including battery replacement. In my opinion, until they are at price parity FROM NEW with ICE 125s, EMoped still don't make any sense.
Thinking along the "put my money where my mouth is" lines that you have done with 2 bikes now. On a tangent from that, what kit would you buy ? Helmet, gloves, boots etc. Would it still be Arai and Alpine star, or maybe something different. :)
@neevesybikes go for it 😀 . its on my dream list too or the rs250 regiani colours Got the gsxr 750 gp now so i guess il keep copying you hahahha. Theres a company in Holland that sell lots of 2 strokes called vintage motorcycles. They have a few beautiful ones in recently and they come over to the uk quite regularly. Best of luck and cant wait to see one on the channel.... maybe wait til i get mine first of the prices will rocket even more like the gsxr750 did😀
Scooters oozed Italian style, mod dress & soul music, not long hair, denim/leather & hard rock. But we both rejected cars, conformity & mediocrity. Never had a scooter, but in 50yrs riding I've never passed one without acknowledging it.
MCN isn't lucky they have managed to keep themselves relevant, it's down to you lot making sure it does.

Ouch! It’s more the height you land from than the speed. Slow highsides are the worst!
@neevesybikes Well I landed on a ford focus, which I suppose reduced the height, but yeah, I've heard it was a bit spectacular. My uncle said "At least you got the biggie out the way early".
Kawasaki did a UA-cam 40 anniversary video about the gpz900r. And there were rumours about a new one. What happened?
Hi mate. I haven't heard anything. The only 900s they're talking about for '25 is the new Z900. A modern day GPZ900R would be very cool, though, eh?!
@Kristofferheihei I accelerate very hard and make extensive use of engine breaking. I have access to very quiet, winding country roads.
@@fred3527 lucky :D
@fred3527 My 23 MT09 SP came on the OEM S22's and my rear only lasted 4k km.
The OEM S23's that your MT09 comes with are inferior to the retail S23's with less rubber.. I'd expect the superior retail version with its multi compound to last closer to twice as long judging from user accounts.
I'll be going for a new retail S23 for the rear and would only consider going with the Road 6 if I was replacing both front and rear.
Hello, Mr Neeves. I was wondering is there a motorcycle that you would like 100% better overall if it didn't look so damned ugly?
Thanks. 👍
Hi Neevesy,
Is there a track that you haven't been able to ride on yet that's on your bucket list?
Thanks
I’d love to ride Laguna Seca one day. You?
I'm from Melbourne so Phillip Island is my local track. I'd love to try Spa one day
Leccy bikes...
Now wouldn’t that be good? 😊👍
👍
electric 125s in a nutshell:
they cost twice as much as their petrol equivalent and go at best half the distance, a lot worse in winter;
generally a lot heavier, meaning less agility when filtering;
when the battery goes wrong, the replacing cost will be higher than the residual value of the moped;
an italian magazine calculated in roughly 60k km the distance you have to travel before you return of your initial purchase investment, considering lower Emoped maintenance cost, energy and taxes, but sadly not including battery replacement.
Yep, definitely. Arai, Shoei or Astars for a racing lid, Shoei for touring lid, Astars for riding kit, except for Bull-It jeans. 👍
Hey neevsey Whats the new bike that your after ???
I fancy a Suzuki RGV250M...
Best of luck and cant wait to see one on the channel.... maybe wait til i get mine first of the prices will rocket even more like the gsxr750 did😀
Ha! I’ll look them up. Cheers bud 👍
Scooters oozed Italian style, mod dress & soul music, not long hair, denim/leather & hard rock. But we both rejected cars, conformity & mediocrity. Never had a scooter, but in 50yrs riding I've never passed one without acknowledging it.
First !
Ker-ching!

Blimey, 21 years ago. Good find!
Personally think electric bike's are shocking 💥
Have you had a hair transplant?
Ha! If I had I’d want my money back 😄
