    I think a longer barrel has more air efficiency because the air is pushing on the paintball for a longer time. This video was also very helpful!

    • @howtoplaypaintball
      @howtoplaypaintball  2 роки тому +2

      I’m not sure that would help efficiency. It’d be interesting to investigate.

    • @RileyPierce_

      @@howtoplaypaintball Ok, the reason I thought it would is, since one reason firearms have a long barrel is to have more time for the expanding gas to propel the bullet. a paintball marker's barrel may have a different reason for air efficiency. Yes, some tests would be neat. Basically the expanding air pushes the projectile, the longer it pushes that projectile down the barrel, the more speed it gains.

    • @howtoplaypaintball
      @howtoplaypaintball  2 роки тому +1

      With paintball it also isn't going to be aerodynamic like a bullet which may hinder efficiency in a longer barrel. I'd have to test it all out though.

      @@howtoplaypaintball Yeah, the paintball's shape may hinder efficiency, and maybe a video titled "Does Barrel Length Matter? (part 2)."

      @@RileyPierce_ firearms utilize burning and expanding gasses which propel the projectile for longer amounts of time compared to a paintball guns single burst of compressed gas. I believe 8” is the optimized length for a control bore (look at freak xL, Stella, parabolic, PE and dyes barrel backs, with 14” overall being the longest length overall before you start losing velocity to friction.

  • @acabello72

    Main thing about accuracy is the quality of paint you're using, not so much the bore length or barrel even. The bore length has more to do with acceleration and stabilization of the paint (think more consistent over the chrono).
    If your paint isn't the best quality, old, dimpled, poor quality etc...the air won't pass equally around the paintball and will cause it to spin unevenly and effect accuracy. Bad paint = poor accuracy. That's about it. You could lessen this effect by using a slight underbore. Example, your paint is boring out at ~684-685 then you use the stella 680 back with the 689 front. Thos will keep most of the air behind the ball and not around it.

    • @howtoplaypaintball
      @howtoplaypaintball  8 років тому +1

      I disagree. I don't believe in underboring with paint. I don't want to put any unnecessary stress on the ball. Fragile paint will break and you won't be able to shoot.
      As for the consistency and accuracy yes it will be better with a better paint to bore match.
      Thanks for watching!

      +How To Play Paintball some people fee the same way about under boring and that's perfectly fine. Everyone is different. Tests have been done proving that paintballs actually handle the stress of under boring (to a certain degree) pretty well. The gentleman who designed the barrel your shooting uses a slight under bore as well. Helps quiet down the shot as well! "Bore matching" is actually worse for your chrono readings. No two paintballs are exactly the same, even top of the line paint. Some might be a tight fit some might be a bit loose in the barrel causing your readings to be a little all over the place.
      Either way you shoot what you like, as should everyone. Just get out and play. I appreciate your videos.

      I can see both you points. Perhaps the higher grade Paint could stand the extra stress, but it seems your getting pretty tight. When I measure my Paint I really don't see more then a .002 differences in a case of quality Paint (Empire Premium, Advanced grade, great through my A5). I know thats a small difference, but we are talking differences in the .004 for your changes. I'm waiting for the 14' Complete Freak Barrel Kit in Stainless Steel for my 2 A5s . This I believe has every bore size I could need from .677 to .693 in .002 or .003 size increase's. I'll try to give an update here when I have had a chance to use different brands and grades of Paint and matching the bore size. I have a Paintball sizer to make matching easier and accurate.
      Hope this helps... R.S... :)

      How To Play Paintball
      You can disagree all you want but Albert Cabello is correct. There has been extensive research done which thoroughly demonstrates that barrels actually have a negligible effect on paintball accuracy. The 3 primary gear related things that affect accuracy are paint quality, paint quality, and paint quality. Barrels are extremely overrated and the least important part of the gun.
      You are speaking from a biased perspective based on personal experience rather than an objective standpoint rooted in research and data. This video you’ve made only serves to perpetuate one of the many paintball myths born out of marketing hype through which millions of consumer dollars have been needlessly wasted on gun upgrades that don’t actually improve performance, and this sport has seen enough of that.

    I think the longer barrel also can equal out the weight a little (very little) and also it points better. But I still like 14" the best.

    a subject I never see info on in PB is the discussion about bounce shots, can u make a video about this?

    • @JamesSmith-gk8sz
      @JamesSmith-gk8sz 3 роки тому

      Definitely a line in the sand between a lot of players. If you're asking what it is, it's simply when a player shoots an inflatable bunker in such a way the paintball "bounces" off at an angle and then hits an opposing player. If you already knew that, my two cents (having played a number of years) is that it's virtually impossible to practice/train to to pull it off in a real game.
      You'll end up wasting tons of paints and probably miss "real" shots you could make in the process. I personally never try them because the statistics of a successful bounce shot are slim to none unless you've played a field before and know exactly how a bunker works.

    Thing' that effect the accuracy of a projectile. Shape of projectile (round is very unstable), 2, Length of barrel (IF IT IS RIFLED ONLY, even the large military cannons have rifleing!!), 3, Matching FPS to length of shot, i.e, it's load, The longer barrel only helps if 1, It's bore matches the paint your shooting (same with any barrel), 2, Due to rifling inside the barrel which Paintball Marker Barrels do not have, and wouldn't be effective anyway due to the shape of the PB. The only thing close to Barrel rifling is a Flatline barrel which adds back spin due to the curved shape and the roughness of the inside of the barrel which adds distance, not accuracy. An Apex barrle controls the flight by having just one small area of the Barrel that is rough causing the ball to spin giving it the curve the barrel in known for. I am always open to input that proves me wrong as I am always looking for ways to increase my accuracy at distance which will soon be taken care of (I hope) by the Complete Freak Barrel and Backs kit with 8 different bore sizes, in stainless steel!! Hoping it gets here today (4/15/17)!! Door is open and I'm next to it waiting to see if what Iv'e learned so far amounts to anything. LOL Hope this info helps you all.. R.S... :)

      Do you mean a sniper as in a sniper rifle? If that's the case a bullet is more aerodynamic and the rifling in the barrel will help with that as well. A paintball isn't as aerodynamic. The length doesn't really matter at all in regards to paintball barrels.
