Just imagine back in 1969… someone says "Hey you've gotta hear this new band!", and they pull out a fresh new vinyl record and put it on the turntable... they drop the needle... and BAM! This is your first impression of this new group... 😳🤯
John Bonham was an amazing drummer and his son Jason can bang them just as well as his father. When you put them all together you get an amazing group called Led Zeppelin.
One of my all-time favorites. I've been listening to led Zeppelin since 1975. Had the privilege of seeing them in LA in 1977 (I think it was '77). Could be wrong on the date, we were smoking a lot of pot back then. It's so nice to see that the band is still appreciated by younger people today
COMMUNICATIONS BREAKDOWN and GOOD TIMES-BAD were their first big radio hits. For decades, this first album was among the best of all first-albums. Here it is, 52 years later, I think it'd easily be nominated for First Album awards.
All due respect...while this song was on their first LP, it wasn't the opening track. "Your Time Is Gonna Come" is the opening track. "Good Times Bad Times " on vinyl/cassette is the first song on Side Two.
This was everybody's introduction to Led Zeppelin, song 1 of their first album. I remember when I first heard it my jaw was hanging open. Robert Plant was only 19 years old in this recording. John Bonham the drummer was also 19, John Paul Jones was 22, and Jimmy Page was 24.
Yes more Zeppelin!! This was the first song on their first album! Please do The Song Remains The Same/The Rain Song from MSG 1973 concert...you won't be sorry!
Yes the song remains the same/rain song live 73 Madison square garden but you HAVE to watch song remains the same first then it turns into rain song so much better live 73
The band’s formation was nothing short of miracle. I recalled Page contacted someone to join his new band but that person had committed to another band / session / tour, then they auditioned Robert Plant, then Plant said he knew a drummer, the drummer turned out to be arguably the greatest drummer in the world; John Henry Bonham
I've been listening to Bonzo's 16th note triplets on the kick/snare and still can only get them right every once in awhile and he was about 19 yrs old at the time...
Do enter Led Zeppelin Royal Albert Hall 1969 into UA-cam. You'll see them play most of this album live. A different concert experience to anything from years later. Thanks for the reactions Jayy.
That whole first album was great.. Glyn Johns as the engineer and Co-Producer and Page and a JPJ we’re both such accomplished studio musicians at a young age that they just made the mix on this album killer. One of the greatest debut albums ever… right up there with the first CSN a record.
Your 'Ooh!' at 2:29 was right on the beat and fitted right into the pause they left. It's like they were waiting for your signal before starting Jimmy's solo.
Hey Jayy, there is a little girl drummer from Japan named Yoyoka and she does a KILLER set to this song. I literally had goosebumps watching her perform-check it out!
Imagine hearing that coming out of your speakers in 1969. The number 2 song was Sugar Sugar by the Archies, and Led Zeppelin was in the wings getting ready to change the course of rock and roll.
YAY!! More Zeppelin!! Keep going..... "Misty mountain Hop", "Gallows Pole", "Bron -Y -Aur - Stomp", There's so much left to hear. EVERY SINGLE SONG IS AMAZING.... Love how you really get the "greatness" of these guys!!
Everyone gives Bonzo, Page and Plant respect, deservedly, but John Paul Jones was the catalyst that held it together, he was the true unsung hero of Led Zeppelin.
The first time anyone heard them. This song put them at the top of the charts. The first time anyone eclipsed The Beatles. People noticed. And what an insanely perfect first song.
You should do - you NEED to do - a reaction to Kashmir from the 2007 O2 Celebration Day show. It’s the only complete concert set the surviving 3 members of Zeppelin have done since Bonham’s death in 1980. And the coolest part? Bonham’s son Jason is playing drums. You’ve gotta do a reaction to that...gotta...and to see them 35+yrs after the Madison Square Garden Shows. You’ve gotta.... ;)
Yeah, this was our intro to LED Zeppelin, first song first album. Those bass drum triplets are amazing, and we all went nuts. I saw an interview with Carmine Appice, Vanilla Fudge’s drummer. Zeppelin toured with Vanilla Fudge on their first tour. Carmine said he was telling Bonzo how much he loved those triplets, and Bonzo told him he got it off one of Vanilla Fudge’s recordings. Carmine didn’t even remember he had done it. Bonzo had everyone’s attention with this song.
John Bonham does things on this track that not even Jimmy Page ( recorded literally thousands of hours of studio music for many many artists before Zep) had heard before, or even understood how he did it!! On the same album ( their first) , feast your ears on " How Many More Times" Jayy. You won't regret it, trust me!!
I was only 3 when Zep's first album came out. That makes me 54 now. So I missed out on a lot of cool shit. What I did do was what you JAYY are doing with you tube is the same as what I did in my teens with research and word of mouth to find new awesome music. I envy you for being able to just find it at your fingertips. That's amazing. The Saturday afternoons I would spend perusing a dozen used record stores looking for anything cool was a very enjoyable hobby. Keep diggin', there's a ton more out there. BTW, can you imagine what it must have been like to hear a song like this for the first time on the radio or on a turntable with really good speakers when you were 15 or 20 years old, My what a rush that era must have been. Cheers, the canadian Queen nut.
I read that this was the first album which was released only in stereo. None of the recording companies wanted to produce it, so LZ produced it themselves.
When, in 2007, the band regrouped to celebrate the life Atlantic Records boss Ahmet Ertegun, this kick-started the set; indicating their intention to recall the journey their music had taken under his watchful eye. The opening track on their first album and one of the few originals they had at that stage, it's a powerful statement of intent. It's not without reason that label-mates Iron Butterfly (whose name probably inspired their own) once refused to go on stage as headliners, after the Zeppelin had drained the audience as support act.
Yeah!! It’s Jayy and Led Zep - this made my day. Please check out “Achilles Last Stand” live at Knebworth ‘79. It’s intense, it’s amazing, it will knock you on your butt. 🤘🏼
I grew up with Zepplin. I know all the songs. I know what's coming and I love waiting to see how you are going to react. Bonzo started playing when he was 5.
You could go on forever with this band! Led Zep 3 has some great ones....Tangerine, Immigrant Song, and one of my faves...Out on the Tiles...Check them out when you can!
Yes!!! The first track of LZ1. 1969. Introduced the world to the Hammer of the Gods and the world would never be the same!!! FYI - John Bonham sings harmony with Plant on this one!!
Hey Jay show love you girl. Make sure you listen to Since I've Been Loving You studio version and Achilles Last Stand Studio version period and don't forget David Phelps to flip the switch and listen to a gift from God. Songs like just as I am. Water. Oh Holy Night. No More Night. Mio Bambino Caro. Nessun Dorma. And so many more and then Mark Lowry who wrote Mary Did You Know performing with voctave. I love to watch you jam it is the coolest thing would Led Zeppelin. Keep it going girl. I will be looking for you
When I looked at the music book with music to this song written down...the beginning of the song had the drum technique used....I noticed the tech on the high hat used is a choke...it was weird because it said "Choke" across the top of the page...and we know that's how Bonham died....Spooky
If you're listening to the studio version of this and you're on the headset or the headphones you got to listen to John Bonham's foot pedal it is so quick it's unbelievable check it out
There's a cover of this by the band Godsmack that's pretty good too. Also there's a young Japanese UA-camr who plays drum covers, her name is Yoyoka. She did a cover of this at 8 years old and nailed it, There's also a reaction video of Robert Plant watching her play this song and even he was impressed.
I love your facial expressions! Watching your reaction videos is a highlight for me everytime a new comes out. Have you ever reacted to good old Celtic songs? Some of them are so funny, I think you'd enjoy them! "Donald Where's Your Trousers" (I like the Irish Rovers' version) is hilarious, and so is "7 Drinken Nights" (many versions of this, and all funny, but Celtic Thunder's stage version is probably the most entertaining). And if you want to hear something absolutely beautiful, listen to Dougie MacLean's "Auld Lang Syne" (means "Old Times-Those Fondly Remembered")
I'm in Australia and I've seen most of the band's live, I was there when Ozzy Osbourne bit a bats head off , the Australian animal law enforcement agencies arrested him and he was sent back home
I was so hoping you would recognize the drumming excellence . Him and Bill Ward from Black Sabbath we’re the best rock drummers of their era. Maybe add Keith Moon right below them.
If you carefully listen to John bottom he's playing his right hand arm on a cowbell his left arm is hitting snare and the other tomtoms but the most he uses is the bass drum pedal he's got the fastest foot I've ever seen so you really need to listen he's amazing
Awesome! Hey Jayy.if you Led Zeppelin you should do a reaction to Robert Plant's solo albums especially his music video for "Tall Cool One" . Happy Cinco de Mayo!!!
Jayy , I know you are a lifelong fan now , check out the 2007 o2 arena version , I know you done Kashmir but just like this being first song first album it is the opening song of the show … They make one simple statement with that first song …..WE MEAN BUSINESS…Sublime ..
This is how you start a career, First Album, Side A, song 1 and the legend was just starting.
Absolutely!
The soundtrack of my high school career. First heard this in freshman year!!
i guess it's kind of off topic but does anybody know of a good site to watch new series online ?
@Zev Allen lately I have been using Flixzone. You can find it by googling :)
@Old Rock Geeser most powerful opening track from a debut album ever. Drops mic. Period...
Once you notice bonhams drumming you’ll hear it more and more in every song. Never heard anything like him and he’s been dead for 40 years. RIP BONZO!
The Big Bang that changed the world of rock forever.
Bonzo is killing it on the drums, everyone is firing on all 8 cylinders. This is why many of us love Zeppelin.
Page too
Just imagine back in 1969… someone says "Hey you've gotta hear this new band!", and they pull out a fresh new vinyl record and put it on the turntable... they drop the needle... and BAM! This is your first impression of this new group... 😳🤯
Exactly!
Fucking epic for sure! And still is to this day!!✌️
Don't have to imagine, l was there! Everytime they came to L.A. which was a lot, l went to every one 🤟😜 Biggest "Led Head" here✌
Kinda like hearing nirvana first time..but much better
I can’t even imagine. I was only in THIRD GRADE! Led Zeppelin. Always loved them. They’re chaotic and melodic all at once.
First song, first album. Groundbreaking, speaker-breaking stuff.
First album, side one, first track Led Zeppelin's debut song !
John Bonham was an amazing drummer and his son Jason can bang them just as well as his father. When you put them all together you get an amazing group called Led Zeppelin.
Track 1 on Zep I.
What a way to launch themselves on an unsuspecting universe....
Never enough Led Zeppelin!

That my dear lady was bonzo on drums the best rock and roll drummer ever........ZOSO
Liked how you referred to the drummer as “they”, as if there’s more than 1 person killing it back there.
First song on their first album ever! I am glad you are reacting to this.
All due respect...while this song was on their first LP, it wasn't the opening track. "Your Time Is Gonna Come" is the opening track. "Good Times Bad Times " on vinyl/cassette is the first song on Side Two.
this was the worlds introduction to John Bonham
This was everybody's introduction to Led Zeppelin, song 1 of their first album. I remember when I first heard it my jaw was hanging open. Robert Plant was only 19 years old in this recording. John Bonham the drummer was also 19, John Paul Jones was 22, and Jimmy Page was 24.
This song is about 52 years old now and I never get tired of it. It was amazing the first time I heard it and it still is.
I play drums and this is my favorite Led Zeppelin song of all time. Certainly the most fun to play.
Best bass drum pedal work in all of recorded history: - *"You better sing.....*

Ohh, I’m so pumped you’re doing Led Zeppelin!!! You can’t go wrong with this song or this group Jayy. Ty for your channel!!
1969, I'm aged 18. My friend Jim brings in his new album on vinyl , Led Zeppelin. Side one plays, Good Times Bad Times. The start of a fantastic era.
"Trampled Under Foot" is their funkiest song. Gotta do it.
Indeed! A musical orgasm.
Great comment on the drums, Jayy. That bass drum! Bonham just drives the song.
That whole first album was great.. Glyn Johns as the engineer and Co-Producer and Page and a JPJ we’re both such accomplished studio musicians at a young age that they just made the mix on this album killer. One of the greatest debut albums ever… right up there with the first CSN a record.
My big brother brought this album home when it came out and when my little kid ears heard this song it was my intro to Led Zeppelin.
How many other bands when they played this album shat their collective pants when they heard this
My guess is...alot!
It put a lot of bands out of business..... and knocked the Beatles out of the top spot in ‘69. Think about that.
Even now it makes me want to apologize to my instruments whenever I hear it
"I don't care what the neighbors say / I'm gonna love you every single day"
No wonder they thought these kids were trouble!
Your 'Ooh!' at 2:29 was right on the beat and fitted right into the pause they left. It's like they were waiting for your signal before starting Jimmy's solo.
Another fact John Bonham sings a little backup with Robert on certain parts of the song

@@JPMadden thanks for the link!
It's amazing. Jayy, if you haven't seen it already, it's worth reacting to. She's phenominal!
Have you seen Robert's response to her playing? It's great!
The triplets on the bass drum were groundbreaking and incredible. I can't quit you baby is one of the best drum recordings of all time. Period.
Imagine hearing that coming out of your speakers in 1969. The number 2 song was Sugar Sugar by the Archies, and Led Zeppelin was in the wings getting ready to change the course of rock and roll.
Respect for you getting the drums. Most girls don't hear that! Most girls hear vocals and guitar only. You are so good!
How do you know what girls hear? We hear the drums. We drool over the singer, and guitarist. Big difference.
@@sukie584 Sorry, I didn't mean all girls like I said in the comment. I love girls that can hear the whole record.
First song I ever heard from Zeppelin, and still one of my favorites! I LOVE playing this on stage!
Great!! only one more and you have done the entire first album, you like to hear Rob scream? check out 'How Many More Times"
Oh wait, forgot communication breakdown, I'm so stupid stupid stupid
You forgot Black Mountainside, which should be done together with Communication Breakdown, also I Can't Quit You Baby.
@@mr.knowitall6440 Thanks Mr. Knowitall

I’m the first finally.. hello from South Georgia your awesome girl
One of the greatest bands ever.
The first time anyone heard them. This song put them at the top of the charts. The first time anyone eclipsed The Beatles. People noticed. And what an insanely perfect first song.
This I my favorite Led Zeppelin song.. still sounds modern.
The music world was never the same after this.....
Greatest drummer to ever do it
I bought all the Led Zeppelin albums as they came out and the first one is the one I played the most and this song is one of my favorites.
The best era for music, ever! Will never be duplicated!

Pretty damn great for the late 60's. This band along with Pink Floyd will endure forever.
Jimmy employing the Leslie! Awesome opening track to a monumental album!!

Jayy, another solid banger from LED Zeppelin is "Houses Of The Holy". It has a tasty bass line to it.
Very hard to find a bad Zeppelin song is so true.

Beyond okay. The real vibe.
Well ,now that you have played just about everything from the first album EXCEPT ,Communication Breakdown ! Maybe its next ?
All I hear is drums. And please God give me more. Bonham is amazing!
He's actually playing drums with one hand cuz the other arm is playing the cowbell and you'll hear the quickness of the bass drum pedal
OK, that's loud!
Yep, just as it should be.
Tea for one by Led Zeppelin is another great song to react too. ✌️
I was so hoping you would recognize the drumming excellence . Him and Bill Ward from Black Sabbath we’re the best rock drummers of their era. Maybe add Keith Moon right below them.
Hello Jayy! Great reaction! If you like this you MUST listen to Communication Breakdown from the same album. ✌
Yes Miss Lovely Jay, he is Robert Plant, and that man can sing his ass off
